I really love servamp manga , the plot is so good, and plot twist are mind blowing. In anime they rushed out so much ...there is lack of emotions in anime than compare to manga , also they cutted out cute scenes of mahiru and kuro ( I mean scenes where they were together in the house , I thought it was cute ) and they also removed many funny scenes . But to be honest I fell in love with servamp after I watched anime ( actually the reason I decided to watch servamp was because I thought kuro was the main character, and also because I thought vampire turning into cat is cute and funny , but series series turned to be more serious than it is ) . I liked anime because of the good animation and Character design and ost . I personally think that the animation was good ( even through they spoiled the plot ) , the character design was also so good , and the voice cast was amazing , and background music was unique and nice . Later I found manga , after finding manga servamp became my whole life ❤️. It was 4 years journey, but now it's coming to an end soon . But I really hoped it continued for more longer ( as you know the plot became so twisted and left many unanswered questions and all) .

I would like know what did you think of servamp at first , how did you find servamp , did you read manga first or watched anime

Tbh I didn't watch all the anime, just some episodes. I liked soundtracks and voice acting too, they're really cool! Among osts I especially like "Sensei" and Tsubaki's theme "Omoshirokunai". Kenji Kawai is awesome and seiyuu staff did amazing job (and they continue to do so)! However, it seemed to me that some scenes could be animated better. But it's how it was when I tried to watch Servamp ~3 years ago (because I started from manga). Maybe if I try now, I'll think and feel differently. But it's a little cringe that they changed the plot 🥲 But one day I'll try ignore it and watch the anime.

As I said, I read the manga first. It was because of some posts from tumblr, one with Mahiru and Kuro, about Kuro turning into a cat when Mahiru embarrasses him, and another with mikutsuru arts, lol. Since it was in 2019, I don't remember clearly that I thought. I was really bad at the analyzing back then and my thoughts were quite woolly... Eventually, thanks to new people I met, I plunged into the plot & characters analyzing and references, it was a real fun. Servamp has really helped me to expand my worldview and a range of interests. I liked Servamp that much that I bought a graphic tablet and started to draw and even wrote some fanfics, lol. About character design... idk I don't think about it too much but I guess I like it, it's a pleasure to draw them~ I think the designes are very considered, from Hyde's chaotic one to Kuro's hood fur that reminds of cat ears (sorry I can't remember others now).

Looking back this whole time... it was a race between Tsurugi and Mikuni, but Tsurugi lost.

It almost feels like these references imply Mikuni wanted to make Tsurugi the Ninth Servamp because that was as close as he could get to 'fixing' Tsurugi. While yes, Tsurugi's body has the highest affinity for it. But with all the Jin around and all the magic users enhancing their own skill, it really didn't have to be Tsurugi. The Count just needed a vessel.

After her family perished in an accident she was taken by her relatives and has been taking medication in order to suppress the memory and trauma that followed. Her surname 'Alicein' is a reference to Alice in Wonderland and a character from the Servamp Series. Meanwhile her first name, Elisabeth or 'Lisa' is a reference to Lyssa, who is the Greek personification of Mad rage and madness.

Yes. She's based on American Mcgee's Alice and the Alice doll from LDD series (see below)

Oh I love Mahiru and Kuro's whole deal. Like especially now that we have Kuro's backstory him being annoyed at Mahiru at first is in a different light, because he probably recognizes how he used to be in Mahiru.

Yes! Yes, absolutely! It's not just that Kuro is lazy, it's that he was so much like Mahiru and it led to SO MANY deaths (and of course his own death as well). He knows Mahiru so much better than Mahiru even knew, because he used to be similar to him.

Honestly, shortly before the conversation that they had where Kuro calls out Mahiru's tendencies was SCARY. Mahiru pretty much decided that he was going to die and he would sacrifice himself, and although his surface level reasons were the obvious ("Need to save everyone else, so my one life being sacrificed is the simple solution"), but it was so much deeper than that. He was terrified that his uncle would be dead and he was looking into the possibility that he would be completely alone. Having to face that same situation where he's waiting for news of his uncle the same way that he waited for his mom to return home and she never did. He couldn't handle it and it sent him down in a spiral. Better to die for "good" and never know rather than to face it head-on again.

But the solution in Servamp has never been brute force. Kuro's willingness to fight could only happen because Mahiru sought to understand him, even though they seemed completely opposed in personality. Kuro and Mahiru don't want to kill Tsubaki, they want to understand him. Kuro is trying to reach out to him like an older brother, but they need to be stronger in order to do so. To reclaim Kuro's power, he and Mahiru need to work together and trust each other, and seek to understand his demon rather than subjugate it.

Of course, fighting happens, and you can't lose those battles, but time and again Mahiru's wins come from trying to understand his enemy and his allies. What did Licht refer to him as during the C3 arc? Something to do with sewing. Mahiru is good as sewing and mending things literally and he is good at it with people as well, although because Mahiru himself is in a bad place, this leads to him feeling increasingly isolated--but that's where Kuro comes in. He knows Mahiru, he used to be him (metaphorically), and once he finally breaks out of his tendency to give up in order to call out Mahiru on it and get Mahiru to properly lean on him, then Mahiru and Kuro's partnership can really go far

LIKE LIKE!! It can be something as subtle as squeezing the other's hand in reassurance, or to something more romantic like Licht kissing Lawless's knuckles,,, or just Lawless gently rubbing his thumb over Licht's hand when they hold hands.

Or to something as fleeting as a kiss on Lawless's lips from Licht.

Or to the way Lawless would wrap his scarf around Licht's neck when he notices Licht shivering.

To the way Licht would remember the specific plays Lawless tends to rewatch annually, and always makes sure to buy tickets so they can watch it together.

To the way Lawless would remember Licht's favourite drinks/pastries so he can make them himself.

To the way Licht composes songs for Lawless. (Or when he constantly draws his inspiration from Lawless, because he's his biggest muse)

Thinking about Mikuni and Misono both sharing a habit of referring to their servamps as "My Jeje/Lily" when they're feeling affectionate with them or want to communicate like

Like they have claimed you, and you are theirs, come hell or high water.

Really, it took Jeje a long time to realize what the word “my” means to Mikuni

like yes, this man is his, this little brother is his, this kouhai is his, aren't you jealous? Don't you want them, too? You can't have them. They are his.

And I think that the reason Mikuni does that in not entirely because he learned it from Lily, because Lily calls the people most important to him things like "my dear," "my love," "my beloved,” and "My Eve"

Like, it makes perfect sense for a man who has lost nearly everything that was once his to cling to what he has left, especially when what he has left are his relationships with people

Mikuni was cut off from those he loved for so long...

But even when they're within his reach, he doesn't know how to deal with that.

Why is Snow Lily called Snow Lily?

We’ve seen time and time again how important names are in the Servamp manga, and how every single character has one that relates to their role within the story in one way or another. There’s a lot of really cool posts taking a look at all these names, and while I’m sure Snow Lily has also been talked about before I love him and shall do it again. 

Snow Lily is given his name by a young Misono when they form their contract after Mikage’s death, on a snowy day in winter. We don’t really know why baby Misono decided on this name in particular - to a child like him it could have just been a pretty name for a pretty person he loves. (Though, personally, I really love to think that Mikage helped him come up with it when he knew his life would end soon.)

But I digress! This is, after all, the Servamp manga we’re talking about. Clearly, his name has some meaning. 

Snow Lily is obviously named after a flower, the lily. And while there is no species called a “snow lily” the name could simply be meant to refer to a lily the colour of untouched snow: White. And the white lily in particular has quite a significant symbolic meaning attached to it. 

As it is with flowers, many different cultures assigned many different meanings to the white lily, but those that come up time and time again are beauty, love, innocence and purity. Back in ancient Greece it was said that a white lily bloomed from drops of milk that fell down to earth from the breasts of the goddess Hera; a flower so beautiful and pure it upset Aphrodite, goddess of love and lust. In Christianity, the white Madonna lily is associated with the Virgin Mary, a symbol of purity and innocence, and from there on the connection between the three of them found its place among many Western cultures, that the Servamp manga has drawn from time and time again.

(Side note - remember Lily’s subclass, the sweet little twins? Their names, Yuri (which translates to ‘lily’) and Mary also play into this.)

All these virtues associated with the lily can be found in our Lily in one way or another: Beauty he possesses in abundance, love is a concept so important to him that his conflict and his choices, his character arc and its messages, his entire concept revolves around it. Purity and innocence, however… They seem to be a stark contrast to his title as the Servamp of Lust. 

Except that Lily is not his title! He is far more than just ‘lust’. There is a beautiful post that also makes this point and explains it a bit better here but I also want to put it into my own words: There is a part of Lily that is very much innocent and pure because that part of him is, plain and simple, a child. 

If you take a close look at Lily, at the things he does and the way he acts, you can see that a lot of his most prominent personality traits are child-like in one way or another. His cheerful disposition, his playfulness and how silly he can be at times play into this, just like how utterly scared he is, of being hated, of being abandoned, even of trivial, seemingly irrational things like his sister. There is a very literal child at his core, the little girl dressed in white; and the form he takes after losing his power is that of a baby. As Misono meets inner Lily, as he leaves her and she bids him goodbye, she asks him to take care of Lily, to “watch over this fearful child”.*

Snow Lily’s name acknowledges all of that. 

Lily has long lost his innocence now. We don’t know much about his life as a human, but from what little there is we can assume it was ripped away from him at a very young age. He never wanted to be a vampire, he hates himself for the things he did out of child-like fear, he feels such immense guilt for the pain someone else’s lust caused that he is convinced it will make Misono, someone who feels nothing but love for him, leave him. 

But a little child chose to call him Snow Lily, something innocent and pure. Misono chose to call him Snow Lily, even after all his truths had been revealed. And every time he hears his name called again, it’s a reminder that he is wanted, and loved, and deserving of it all.

*as you can see, I’m talking about the German version of the manga here, but I translated the relevant bits for you as closely as I could. I never actually read volume four in English so I’m not sure what she says at this point. I can faintly remember that it may have been “coward” so I elected to ignore that! And yes, Snow Lily is written as Snow Lilly in German and I have conflicting feelings about it.

I don’t know why but I latch onto the smallest things to ramble and make a theory.

Tanaka mentions a trial that will test Kuro and Mahiru’s relationship. We will likely see what Sloth has planned in Kuro’s inner world. The smirk Sloth had when Mahiru used Elpis definitely means he has something planned. It has been shown that Sloth can manipulate people’s inner world (such as how he created a pocket space in Mahiru’s mind when Touma shot him and he gave Mahiru a brief glimpse of Kuro’s past in the rose).

I have faith in Kuro and Mahiru’s connection so I doubt Sloth will be able to shake their trust. But I also know Tanaka and how she loves to hurt our children XD Please Tanaka, give them a vacation from so much fighting. Sloth might show Mahiru one of Kuro’s painful memories connected to when he was human thinking that he would call him a monster.

Then again, I could be overthinking things and Tanaka is simply referring to the fight with Sloth in general rather than a specific plan by him. Tanaka also mentioned the upcoming volume 16 of Servamp and the chapters yet to be serialized are 103-108. I don’t know if chapter 109 will be included in the upcoming volume.

I believe there’s only room for one more chapter or chapter 109 might just be super short. The chapters have a total of 157 pages (yes, I went back and counted). An average volume of Servamp has 180 pages. Each volume usually includes 3-4 pages of 4komas, 4-6 pages of official art and 2-3 pages for corrections to art/pages Tanaka sometimes make.

Sun Lily treats canon Misono with as much care (which is a lot) as he does with virtue Misono (although he has more of a reason to since canon Misono is more sickly than virtue Misono).

Servamp has completely taken over my life and in retaliation I started writing a cafe/college AU thing. It was for my garbage friend. And now it’s completely out of control.

Common Duality (This will be posted on my ao3 and ff.ne t) The cafes front windows were smudged with dirt and fog, the bitter air biting into the bones of every patron that wandered in past the swinging double doors. The weather had been in the records lately, with snow falling almost every night. It never stayed until the next morning but that did nothing to soften the sting in the air. Glancing up from the counter he was wiping down Mahiru caught sight of a seemingly familiar head of light colored hair propped up against the outer glass, the strands clinging to the moisture condensed on the panes. He sighed and looked over his shoulder hoping to see a manager. When none appeared he took a deep breath and began putting together a small sandwich and drink. The owner of the hair looked up slowly when Mahiru pushed open the door and peeked out around the frame. To say that he was unusual would have been an understatement and Mahiru was surprised to see that not only was he lacking a hat but also gloves, a coat, and even anything warmer than some beat to hell trainers. Soft hair fell haphazardly across his eyes and obscured what appeared to be dark, unfocused eyes. “Uhm, hi.” He began, casting about for a normal way to offer food to what was obviously a young homeless vagrant. “I think I’ve seen you out here several times now and I thought…. you might like a sandwich?” He tried not to cringe when the eyes only continued to slowly blink up at him. “Er, I mean, not to be rude but my manager is starting to get suspicious you know? Uh.” He ground to a halt again. “We can’t really have people loitering around out here.” The man on the ground finally reacted, heaving a sigh and levering himself up. He stuck his shaking hands into his pockets and turned to go without a backward glance. “Wait!” Mahiru cried. The man turned around again. “Won’t you please take this?” He held out the sandwich, wrapped neatly in foil, and the drink. “I just made them. They’re fresh and- and good for you!” An eyebrow raised skeptically and Mahiru was just beginning to wonder if he was in fact interacting with an apparition when the man finally opened his mouth. “Why bother?” “Why bother with what?” Mahiru asked slowly, confusion painted across his features. “You need to eat!” “It’s such a hassle.” The man (boy? he looked younger up close) said. “Just give it to an alley cat.” “Isn’t it simpler if you just take it?” A hand came out of a pocket and fiddled with a couple strands of hair before yet another heavy sigh escaped. “What does simple have to do with any of this?” “Well, I made them for you.” Mahiru said. “So, it stands to reason that you should take them.” He waved the drink around for a moment. The dazed eyes suddenly focused and widened fractionally. “You made them for me?” “Yes?” “Why?” The question was so blunt and emotionless that Mahiru struggled for a moment to understand what it was referring to. “Why… did I make them for you?” He finally asked, hoping for clarification. A pair of thin shoulders shrugged noncommittally. “Because you need them!” Mahiru exclaimed in horror. “Why wouldn’t I?” The man slowly lowered his head until the unkempt bangs obscured the rest of his face and breathed out. “Man. You sure are something else. Thanks, but I’ll still pass. See ya.” And with that he turned on his heel and slouched off into the blustering wind. Mahiru remained leaning out the door for several more seconds, watching the figure recede into the horizon, until a voice demanding counter service jolted him from his pondering. He frowned down at the sandwich he still held before tucking it into his pocket and planning on it for dinner. After all, he had paid for it with his own money. Oh well. You couldn’t win them all he supposed.

“I’m not joking Sakuya!” Mahiru insisted, twisting a pencil through his fingers. “The guy was seriously wearing a long sleeve tee. Yesterday. OUTSIDE.” They were both seated on the end of the back row in the lecture hall. It was the one class they shared and though Mahiru made many complaints about Sakuya’s inability to take anything seriously and its effects on his learning, he loved this two hour block when he could just relax and pretend that they were still in high school and all the stress of college and work was just a distant threat. Sakuya turned to face him with skeptical eyes and a light frown. “You know that tall tales are MY thing right?” Fighting back the urge to scream Mahiru closed his eyes and returned the frown. “I know. But this isn’t a story! It really happened!” “And you had to go butt in and try to be all heroic, of course. Why can’t you just leave well enough alone?” Sakuya propped his textbook up on the desk and leaned down behind it to keep talking as the professor entered the room and began writing notes on the board. “I mean, what if the guy had been dangerous?” “Dangerous?” He scoffed, ducking behind his own book. “Outside the cafe?” “Stranger things have happened!” Sakuya urged. “Remember just last week when that guy went psycho on the subway and ate that other guys face?” Mahiru rolled his eyes. “I really don’t believe that one. And even if it did happen, didn’t you claim drugs were involved?” “Drugs are always involved.” “Well, there you go. This guy was definitely not on drugs.” “How do you KNOW?” “I could just tell! He…” Mahiru trailed off, wondering how best to describe the strange man that had collapsed outside his workplace. “He looked…” “Suspicious?” Sakuya suggested, grinning. “Drugged up? Outside his mind, high as a kite, dirty and-” “Just like that!” Mahiru exclaimed, interrupting and pointing across the room. Sakuya turned in time to see the student who had just slouched into the room handing a slip of paper to the professor. He glanced at it, seemed to ask a question, to which the new student just shrugged, and then waved his hand impatiently towards the back seats. The students shoulders managed to sag even more before he turned slowly and began trudging up the side steps. “Oh noooo.” Sakuya groaned beside him, head in his hands, just as Mahiru realized that the only open seat was the one to his left. “Mahiru, PLEASE, I’m begging you. Let this one go. Ok?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “You know exactly what I’m talking about!” Sakuya hissed. “This isn’t going to be one of your do-goody pet projects. Say it with me. ‘This guy is none of my business’.” Mahiru tilted his head to the side slightly to get a better look at the man walking towards them. He was scruffy for sure; his hair a mess from the wind, and the tattered sleeves of his sweater loose around the elbows. His shoes looked taped together and his jeans had seen better days, but, Mahiru was pleased to note, he appeared to have all his fingers despite spending the day outside yesterday without any protection. “But what if he never ended up eating yesterday?” He whispered worriedly. “He looks like he’s about to pass out.” “All the more reason for the REAL EMTs to deal with him.” Sakuya muttered and looked away just as the subject of their debate rounded the corner and glanced up from the empty seat to who was sitting one over. Mahiru could pinpoint the moment the other recognized him because he sighed and tipped his head back in defeat. “Of course it’s you.” “Hello again!” Mahiru tried, smiling uneasily. “This is kind of funny isn’t it?” “I can’t deal with this.” He mumbled before sliding into the seat and dropping his head down on the surface of the desk. The loud thump had several people in the row ahead glancing back curiously but he seemed unconcerned. “Hey, are you ok?” Mahiru leaned over a fraction, trying to see if he was still conscious. He rolled his head slightly, just enough for one eye to materialize through the hair falling loosely over his shoulders. “Fine.” Mahiru frowned but turned back to his notebooks just as the professor dimmed the lights. He knew a project was coming up and didn’t want to waste any class time, he had so little to spare as it was; but the presence beside him kept drawing his attention away from the overhead and to the soft hair, tinted blue from the slides. He hadn’t moved since falling forward over the desk and Mahiru was beginning to suspect that he was asleep. Debating whether to wake him or not left Mahiru with the impression that, at least today, it would just be simpler to take two sets of notes. He felt Sakuya’s eyes on his several times but steadfastly ignored it as his hand whipped across two pages, making identical copies of the notes from the projector. By the end of the first hour his hand was cramping spectacularly and he worried that the letters he was writing were becoming illegible. He couldn’t have been more thankful for the small break they had before the second hour and sighed in relief when the lights flicked back on. Standing up, Sakuya watched him massage his wrist for a moment before sighing. “It’s never any good trying to talk sense into you, you know?” Mahiru just grinned up at him and shrugged lightly. Sakuya bit back a smile and slapped his notebook closed. “Fine, fine. I get it. What do you want to drink? I’m headed out for a breather.” “Coffee, please!” “Too much of that stuff will stunt your growth!” He yelled back before ducking out the door. Mahiru huffed and glanced over, only to jump in surprise when he was met with a very awake, very bored stare. “It’s not true. Probably. Sakuya likes to tell jokes. He says I’m gullible.” He tried to explain, feeling his face heat a little as the other just kept staring. “Not that I’m all that short. I’m actually average!” The boy next to him looked startled for one second before spitting out a small laugh. “And that makes you happy?” “Average is a good, simple middle ground. There’s nothing wrong with that!” He sighed again and turned away, resting his chin on the desk. “What ever you say.” “I’m Mahiru.” “Mmh.” Mahiru frowned. “Now you tell me your name.” The boy yawned and squinted forward. “Too much trouble.” A moment passed in silence as Mahiru waited but, sensing that there was nothing more to come, he slid the second copy of notes over until they bumped the floppy sweater sleeve resting on the desk. Dark eyes flashed over to the notes, up to Mahiru, and away again. “Those are for you.” He said casually, unrolling a half finished map in front of himself. “The first half of class is always a lecture, then the second half we have time to work on our projects or ask questions.” Silence met this declaration and he eventually turned back to his homework. He had just started painstakingly highlighting paths through the network of mountains on the map, biting his lip in concentration, when a soft whisper reached him over the chaos of the other students. “Kuro. My name’s Kuro.” Mahiru capped his highlighter in favor of a pen and turned to his left, smiling widely. “It’s nice to meet you!”

Summer’s over and the cold rain's a comin', which means I'm about to hibernate until spring-- In the meantime, though, have a belated summer farewell in the form of headcanons!

Kuro burns very easily, like. The reflection of the sun off concrete is enough to give him a sunburn. Because of this, Mahiru always makes sure to slather him in sunblock before they leave the house. The brand came recommended by Lily.

Mikuni and Misono are both allergic to the same kind of red food dye, which makes festival food a bit of a minefield at times. Mikuni, however, is an awful little gremlin who will eat whatever and take medicine for it later. Because he hates himself.

Iduna might be able to handle the cold in a way that makes her look inhuman, but summer leaves her dying. She turns into a slug when it gets too hot. Don’t make her do anything, please, just let her suffer.

Mahiru's always active, but especially during the summer time. He loves the extra daylight, but loathes the rainy season for screwing with his laundry schedule. Usually by the time summer break is over, he's gotten himself a nice tan solely from being out so much.

Tsubaki has a summer home in the style of a traditional japanese mansion, which means... No a/c-- It's not uncommon to find some of his subclass trying to catch a nap on the veranda when it's the middle of the day and too muggy to do much else.

Speaking of Team M's summer property, there’s a portion of the garden path lit by lanterns that is affectionately referred to as “the parade route” due to the way the shadows cast at night by their glow always seem to twist and turn so eerily.

Hugh Dislikes Summer. It's hot, it's humid, there's BUGS... Terrible season, in his opinion. Autumn is MUCH more suited for a true vampire. The one thing he enjoys is that the Inn tends to get more business, because it makes Tetsu happy.

Speaking of Tetsu, he's well known in his area for always being available to be a helping hand with booth set up and post festival cleanup. The old folks in his area also rely on him to chase loiterers off.

Ildio is neutral to all seasons, but summer pings his radar solely because there's an abundance of produce. Niccolò is hoping that in the future, he can actually get his Servamp to sit down and take his time to enjoy some of Italy's best fruit and veg.

Licht's the type to wear his favorite sweatshirt year round no matter the weather, so he has to be mindful of heatstroke. He loves to swim, though, and has very fond memories of his childhood in Austria during that season. Yes you WILL find him challenging Lawless to climb trees faster than he can.

Lawless tends to work less part time during the summer seasons because, well. Everyone else that looks the same age as him is ALSO out and about looking for a nice gig. It's just a hobby for him, so he's not too broken up about it, and really, he hates doing service industry when all the tourists are coming in droves. He refuses to work Disney during peak vacation times ever again, thanks.

Everyone and their brother gets knocked dead by Freya keeping her hair up off her neck in a pretty ponytail that swings when she walks. It's very eye catching. Completely opposite her Eve, no matter what she wears, she seems fine? She looks forward to the farmer's markets being laden with summertime goodies.

Jeje sunning himself in Nod's windows isn't out of the norm, but my god this poor man SUFFERS if he spends any amount of time as a human. Humidity+layers=Not A Fun Time

Lily frets over the decreased amount of time for his kids to safely play, but he's also of the opinion that the increase in child friendly activities is worth the trade off. Before the vampire war, Alicein house would take their children out to festivals after dark and employ a buddy system of older subclass or older human children with younger kids or fresh turns in order to make sure everyone made it back by the allotted time, and no one got lost. If anything happens, they've got instructions on what to do and who to find for help.

This is mostly wishful dreaming considering my frustration about the lack of Snow Lily ever since volume four, but I like to think there’s a very real possibility he will become relevant again in the conflicts canon shows ahead of us. @yarrayora already touched upon it in his fanfiction here (which is amazing, you should go read it), but to make a long story short; I think there’s reason to believe that Lily will be the one to kill the Count. 

Which is a wild thing to throw out there but I can explain! Story-wise it would absolutely make sense for that to happen because Lily has been established to be the solution to a problem canon has - albeit indirectly - presented us with. 

Among the things the Count needs to be resurrected there is a “vessel”, a body for him to occupy. There’s wonderful theories about whose body that might turn out to be, and though my line of thought started from Yarra’s posts about Mahiru being the vessel, at the end of the day it’s not relevant here as long as we assume it’s someone we don’t want to see hurt. Which is exactly where the problem is: As long as the Count occupies another’s body, it’s near impossible to fight and kill him without also harming the vessel. 

Unless, of course, you have Lily’s scythe. 

Lily’s gimmick is that his weapon does not hurt his enemy’s body but, depending on translation, their mind, spirit, or soul. Which makes it a perfect tool to fight a hostile mind in a stolen body! And it was introduced as early as in chapter seven, during the alleyway fight against Sakuya and Belkia when the latter fell victim to it. The manga takes great care to properly establish what the scythe can do, to the point of stopping the fight for a second so Lily can explain it to Mahiru and us, the audience. 

(I don’t find it unreasonable to believe that even back then, the manga was written with its ending in mind - if “sensei” is first mentioned in chapter three it wouldn’t be a stretch to introduce the power that will kill him just a few chapters later.)

We also know that Lily did, at some point, want the Count dead, as he voted “Yes” to killing him along his older brothers (it’s curious he’s the only one of the younger ones to do so, but I’m not quite sure what that could mean or whether it has any meaning at all). We have no reason to believe his opinion has changed since then, and unlike Kuro, he never expressed regret for his choice. 

There’s other, smaller things that factor into this theory: The fact that Lily’s weapon takes the form of a scythe, possibly in reference to classical depictions of Death or the Grim Reaper; his name that can be read as “it all ends with love”. Names are very important in the Servamp manga, after all; Strike Tanaka has demonstrated time and time again how much thought goes into choosing them, and how telling of a character’s story they can be. 

(If I really went out there I could also mention that Lily deliberately spent what presumably amounts to centuries near the place he knows the Count died in, serving a family that has its roots deep in Vampire Business - I wonder whether he might know more than he ever let onto! But that opens up an entirely different can of worms.)

Also, I do work under the assumption that Lily’s powers will be restored, and he will return to Misono’s side in all his glory! There’s a lot to say about the why and how, but Misono promised he would make sure of it, and this is not the kind of manga to leave a promise as important as this unfulfilled.
