People call him Akefia, so what? "That's not his name"? We know that, lol. But since the Canon didn't give us TKBs name, we gotta call him something. Akefia is a good shorthand way to refer to the exact character we mean without having to say "the thief king" which can't even really be used if you re writing him in a modern AU
uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh no. as far as canon goes, his name is bakura. thats always what hes referred to as in-universe and out of universe, even in the final arc of the manga. thief king bakura. i mean sure you could argue that they only call him that because he inhabited ryou bakura’s body, or that he lost his name like atem did, but theres nothing that explicitly supports either of those things in canon (thief king refers to himself as bakura, and theres no indication he ever had to give up his name like atem did)
like im not bothered by the fact people like to give him a fan name. i LIKE the headcanon of his name being lost like atem’s. and i get that its confusing for two characters to share a name (which is why i also like fan names given to yami malik: kek, azil, amir, mariku, etc)
but when it comes to “akefia”... this isnt even a name at all. its a mishearing from a line of the dub to my knowledge? its not egyptian. it’s not anything. it’s just a stupid sounding word that caught on for some reason. im just saying if youre going to give him a fan name, actually have it make sense. ive seen “bakari” used before, which is a vast improvement because its an actual egyptian name.
anyways the name is stupid fanon and i just dont like seeing my art tagged with it

Anon don't put words in Raven's mouth, or anyone's for that matter, gross. The people who use Akefia are factually and canonically wrong and it is not an insult to point that out. If it bothers those people, they can either make peace with what they enjoy, or they can research more.
