discovering Where The Math Is in something confusing is always such an immense relief
#been trying to learn data analysis for MONTHS now and i only just got a good big picture understanding of What It Is lmao#like. okay. you have some data#you come up with a clearly-defined question. you clean your data#you decide what statistical test is appropriate to answer the question & appropriate for your data#and. CRUCIALLY. deciding which one is Appropriate isnt just some sort of witchcraft!! they all have assumptions built in#often because of how theyre calculated#THATS JUST MATH!!!! i know how to do that#''you can only apply this thing in specific circumstances'' thats a theorem basically. 90% of my coursework in uni was theorems and proofs#still need to practice actually DOING data analysis & im sure ill run into some problems but. hooray! i think i know how to do this!#personal#numbers do not lie

ChatGPT App Development: How to Build AI-Powered Apps from Scratch
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shifted from the realm of science fiction into a practical toolkit for developers and businesses alike. One of the most powerful and accessible AI technologies today is ChatGPT — a conversational AI model developed by OpenAI. Whether you're a solo developer, entrepreneur, or part of a tech team, building an AI-powered app with ChatGPT is now more achievable than ever.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the foundational steps to develop an AI-powered app using ChatGPT from scratch — from understanding the technology to designing, developing, testing, and deploying a functional application.
Understanding ChatGPT and Its Potential
Before diving into development, it’s crucial to understand what ChatGPT is and why it's useful. ChatGPT is a large language model that excels at understanding and generating human-like text. It can be integrated into various applications for purposes such as:
Virtual assistants
Customer support bots
Educational tools
Content generation platforms
Personalized recommendation engines
The beauty of ChatGPT lies in its versatility. It can interpret prompts, generate meaningful responses, and even simulate human-like conversation across different contexts.
Step 1: Define the Purpose and Use Case
Every successful app begins with a clearly defined purpose. Ask yourself:
What problem is this app solving?
Who is the target audience?
What specific role will ChatGPT play?
For example, if you're building a mental health companion, ChatGPT could offer daily check-ins and mindfulness advice. If you're developing a customer service bot, it can handle inquiries, process returns, and provide product information.
Step 2: Plan the User Experience (UX)
AI should enhance, not complicate, the user experience. Define how users will interact with the app:
Will it be text-based, voice-activated, or both?
How will users input their queries?
What kind of responses will be most helpful?
Design simple, intuitive flows. A clean interface paired with clearly labeled actions improves engagement and usability.
Step 3: Set Up Your Development Environment
Once you have a solid plan, you need to choose the tech stack for your app:
Frontend: This is the interface — web (using JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue) or mobile (iOS/Android).
Backend: Manages user data, handles API requests, and communicates with the ChatGPT model.
Database: Stores user sessions, conversation history, preferences, etc.
Although you won't be programming at this stage, it's important to understand the structural needs of your app.
Step 4: Integrate ChatGPT into Your App
The ChatGPT model can be accessed via API. When you call the API, you send a user’s message as input and receive a generated response from ChatGPT.
Here’s how the integration works in concept:
User Input: The app captures the user’s message.
API Request: The backend sends this input to the ChatGPT API.
AI Response: ChatGPT processes the input and generates a response.
Display Output: The frontend displays the AI-generated response back to the user.
This seamless back-and-forth interaction is what powers your intelligent app.
Step 5: Handle Context and Personalization
ChatGPT can generate better responses when it has access to contextual data. To make your app more intelligent:
Maintain conversation history to give continuity to chats.
Use user preferences and session data to personalize interactions.
Optionally, store frequently asked questions to generate more targeted responses.
Proper management of state and memory can transform your app from simply reactive to genuinely helpful.
Step 6: Ensure Security and Ethical Use
AI apps come with responsibilities:
Data Privacy: Encrypt user data and comply with regulations like GDPR or CCPA.
Bias Mitigation: AI can inadvertently generate biased content. Monitor outputs and fine-tune prompts to reduce this.
Transparency: Let users know they are interacting with AI and offer ways to give feedback or escalate to a human if needed.
Your app’s credibility hinges on ethical design and transparent communication.
Step 7: Test Extensively
Before launch, thorough testing is crucial. Focus on:
Accuracy: Does the AI provide relevant and accurate answers?
Speed: Are responses delivered in a timely manner?
Error Handling: How does the app handle unrecognized inputs or service failures?
Testing with real users provides insights that internal testing can miss.
Step 8: Launch and Iterate
Once you're confident with your MVP (Minimum Viable Product), launch it. But remember — launching is just the beginning. Monitor usage, collect feedback, and continuously improve.
Add new features based on user demand.
Analyze conversations to identify patterns and gaps.
Refine prompts and update the interface to optimize engagement.
Conclusion
Building a ChatGPT-powered app from scratch may seem complex, but it's fully within reach for today’s developers. By following a step-by-step approach — from purpose definition to post-launch iteration — you can create a powerful, user-friendly AI application.
The future of apps is conversational. With ChatGPT App Development as your core engine, you're not just creating an app — you're making an experience. The key lies in thoughtful design, ethical implementation, and continuous innovation.

How to Choose a German Kitchen That Matches Your Lifestyle
Contextually, this guide is meant for those considering a kitchen that must last not just functionally but structurally, one that is as utilitarian as it is long-view practical. The intent is not to romanticize design elements but to focus on procedural logic, habitual alignment, and architectural coherence in domestic workspaces.
Understanding the German Kitchen Philosophy
What distinguishes German kitchens is not just the build quality, but the system thinking that underpins their conception. At the core is a cultural orientation toward functionality, efficiency, and longevity. This manifests in modular units, layout precision, and an absence of ornamental redundancy. These kitchens prioritize coherence between intention and execution. The materials and mechanisms are engineered not simply to perform, but to endure. Form emerges from constraint; decoration is a consequence of need, not indulgence. Understanding this helps contextualize every future design choice within a framework of durable minimalism.
Assessing Your Lifestyle Needs
Begin not with aesthetics, but with use. Lifestyle questions are not superficial—they are structural. The number of people who regularly share the space, the frequency and style of cooking, the presence of pets or children, even how often you host guests—all of these are data points. The goal is to identify patterns. Does the kitchen operate as a utility station, or does it blur into a social zone? Do you work near it, snack through it, live in its periphery? The answers configure the parameters that your kitchen must resolve. If you want it to age with you, this alignment must come first.
Exploring Design Aesthetics and Layouts
German kitchens are often mistaken for stylistic minimalism. In reality, they represent optimized restraint. The lines are clean not for aesthetic impact, but for ease of access, modular alignment, and structural clarity. Layouts vary—galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, island-central—but the question is not which is more visually pleasing. The question is: which one minimizes interference between concurrent users, supports logical workflow, and reduces redundant motion? A kitchen that understands how you move is one that disappears into your day. Visual simplicity is a secondary benefit.
Choosing Materials and Finishes
Materials are chosen less for what they imply than for how they perform. Laminates and engineered stone are common because they absorb impact and resist aging. Metals and glass elements offer clarity, ease of cleaning, and tactility without excessive maintenance. Finishes—matte, satin, gloss—are functional decisions first. A matte surface hides fingerprints. A gloss surface reflects light in smaller interiors. Wood veneers warm up the otherwise synthetic palette without surrendering to rustic nostalgia. These are not decorative choices. They are concessions to routine.
Integrating Technology and Smart Features
Smart features must be justified by their reduction of friction. Induction cooktops that calibrate in real time. Refrigerators that track inventory so you don’t. Lighting that adjusts based on movement, time of day, or usage zone. Faucets that sense presence. But none of this matters if it interrupts you more than it supports you. The rule is simple: introduce no device that complicates a process you already perform efficiently. A smart kitchen that’s hard to use is not a smart kitchen. Technology must integrate into the flow, not act as a detour.
Budgeting and Investment Considerations
A German kitchen is not a cost-efficient product. It is a cost-stable one. Its primary value lies in the fact that it doesn’t need to be replaced, patched, or retrofitted as trends shift. You are paying for continuity and reduced future labor. Design consultation, appliance integration, installation labor, and long-term servicing all carry weight in the total. If you have a budget, define it clearly. Then subtract the things you want from the things you need. That ratio becomes your blueprint. A kitchen is only expensive when it fails to outlast its price.
Customization and Modularity
Modularity is not about preference; it is about possibility. German kitchens are structured around standardized increments that can be reordered, remeasured, and relocated. Customization here does not mean flamboyant variation. It means ergonomic specificity. Drawers with interior organizers tuned to your tools. Cabinets with pull-outs that don’t just hold things, but reveal them. Shelves you can adjust without dismantling. The system is not flexible because it’s casual—it’s flexible because it was designed to be precise.
Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Practices
Sustainability in this context is not a flourish. It is compliance with an evolving reality. Most German kitchens are constructed using low-emission materials, formaldehyde-free finishes, FSC-certified wood, and energy-conscious manufacturing protocols. Integrated waste systems, LED lighting, and water-saving faucets are not add-ons. They are defaults. If you’re trying to live with fewer consequences, this is the design category that aligns with that trajectory. The focus is not just on the source, but the lifespan.
Leveraging Professional Expertise
Expertise accelerates accuracy. A professional designer knows how to translate daily patterns into spatial configurations. They anticipate failure points. They understand the tolerances of materials, the behavioral logic of layouts, and the administrative friction of supply chains. They can also tell you when your idea, however charming, will not work—and offer a better one. This is not an indulgence; it is an infrastructural decision. Bringing in someone who works in constraints will make your constraints feel intentional, not accidental.
The Role of Product Research
Research does not mean scrolling through inspiration images. It means sourcing dimensions, finish durability tests, client post-use reviews, component compatibilities, and service timelines. It means knowing which brand’s drawer system will survive twenty years of misuse and which finish peels after six months of sun exposure. You need PDFs, not Pinterest. The question is not what looks good under showroom lighting. The question is what fails under real light.
Navigating the World of Kitchen Catalogs
A properly designed Kitchen catalog is not a gallery. It is a taxonomy. It shows you what exists, in which configurations, and with what dependencies. It offers measurements, combinations, restrictions, and margins of error. When paired with your floor plan, it becomes a design simulation tool. Knowing how to read one correctly eliminates 60% of miscommunications during design and 100% of speculative regret.
Drawing Inspiration from Modern European Kitchens
Modern European kitchens serve as case studies, not templates. What makes them relevant is not their palette or spatial drama. It’s their logic. Their ability to disappear into the rest of the home while remaining fully present. Their preference for integration over attachment, for zoned behavior over open sprawl. These kitchens are not just places where things happen. They are extensions of the user’s rhythm. This is the utility of looking to them—not to mimic the outcome, but to replicate the reasoning.
Final Thoughts
This is not about having a beautiful kitchen. It is about having a kitchen that fits. That doesn’t argue with your body, that doesn’t interrupt your routine, that doesn’t make itself the center of attention unless asked. A kitchen that holds up over time is one you don’t have to think about constantly. That is what you are designing toward. The rest is detail.

Fandom scholarship
Instead of going to bed, I ended up writing a long-ass comment on some fan scholarship. I’m c&ping it here so I don’t lose it:
I just re-found your video while cleaning up some computer files and looked at it again. Interesting work, but I'm curious why you didn't compare to total AO3 numbers at all. One of the distinctive things about AO3 as opposed to, say, Wattpad is that you can just click on the MCU tag and instantly see a breakdown of how many works are each category. For that matter, you can click on m/m, which is also a tag. Right now, there are 191,999 m/m MCU works compared to 144,178 f/m MCU ones. The real question is why your _sample_ looks how it does, not why MCU does. I tried looking at various time ranges in 2021, and while m/m was still more common in each case, if I look only at August or only at the summer, het is pretty close behind, so I can see how you could have gotten a sample of 500 where it managed to just pass m/m in the new postings. At a guess, you sampled just when that Loki TV show had come out and everybody was shipping het for that.
You're also conflating "fanfiction" with "AO3", which is wildly misleading. Part of why AO3 looks how it does is that it's a reaction to other fanfic sites, and the audience it attracts is often preferentially choosing it over other fic sites. That factor has a massive influence on what AO3 fic looks like. It may be fair to call AO3 fic a "genre", but it's not fair to only look at AO3 in defining fanfic or to not consider how AO3's context shapes that genre. That's very shoddy work.
While AO3's greater freedom of labeling may more accurately reflect how fic writers prefer to categorize fic, it's also possible that people who liked the FFN way gravitate there, while people who like the AO3 way come to AO3. FFN's categorization system is most definitely of the 'fantasy', 'action/adventure' variety. AO3 finally surpassed FFN in total stories some time during the pandemic, but for much of AO3's history, FFN has been the larger site. The question about the _word_ 'smut' has a similar issue. Yes, there's something to investigate with the higher rating on BTS fic, but the use of the word itself should be pointing you to a completely different question: Who tags redundantly on AO3 and who likes that _word_ specifically? Since 'explicit' and 'smut' serve to express much the same thing, who is culturally likely to want to add extra tags like that? My off-the-cuff guess is that it's younger Wattpadders who redundantly tag and that they're the ones who tend to use the tag 'smut'. This is just based on experience, not data. I'd bet it tracks with what fandom spaces writers are coming out of, and that may track with specific fandom. If you wanted to delve into the 'smut' question responsibly, you'd need to be looking at cultural factors like who is using the 'Plot What Plot/Porn Without Plot' tag a.k.a. "PWP", who is using 'Porn', etc. You might not find anything interesting, but to not consider that factor or go looking in the first place makes for a weak argument. I remember a case where a fandom I was looking at had plenty of m/m explicit works, but only the big het ship was often tagged 'smut': it was clearly a cultural thing.
This is a nitpick, but the Multi category on AO3 is described in the help popup as "More than one kind of relationship, or a relationship with multiple partners" rather than exclusively being for poly.
I think this statement is also questionable: "People are searching more emotional genre markers more than they are for theme/setting markers." That _may_ be true, but it's not really an accurate description of what your data show. It's true that "Tags are the user-generated subgenre markers on works in Archive of Our Own." but unless you were looking primarily at bookmarks, the users in question are _authors_. People aren't _searching_ for these tags: they're _labeling_ with them. I also think that while tone-indicating tags probably are more popular overall (just based on experience), major emotional tones in stories aren't that varied. Happy, sad, sad but then happy later, etc. Plot-related tags _as a group_ might be very popular without any one given tag being popular. There are 54k BTS fics on AO3 with some variant of the AU tag. There are only 32k using the tag 'smut'. AU is easy to look at because it has an elaborate metatag structure that gathers all those disparate tags into one. Other plot-related tags don't have that. You haven't considered this type of factor at all. To really get a sense of this, you'd need to grab a big sample, then hand-categorize tags into plotty vs. emotional or something. (Or knowing AO3, emotional tone vs. kink vs. plot trope.)
If your next step is to look at BTS, parasocial relationships, and desire, then you really cannot afford to ignore Wattpad. xReaders are on the rise on AO3, but they're still pretty minor compared to fic shipping group members together, both for BTS and for RPF in general, but on Wattpad, it's Jungkook/(presumed female) self as far as the eye can see. There's nothing wrong with preferring AO3 as a fan kicking back with some fanfic, but if you want to do good academic work, you need to either define what you're looking at more narrowly or explain to your audience how extremely non-representative AO3 is of other fanfic spaces.

Loving him was red
By: Moon-Beam95
Fandom: The Umbrella Academy
Pairing: Ben Hargreeves x Reader
Ben was your favourite among your siblings, he was quiet and saw things others didn't. He spent most of his time with Klaus, guiding him, helping him, protecting him. He saw something in Klaus others didn't. Our other siblings thought less of Klaus, that his powers weren't as useful, not as active for the field. You knew that wasn't true Klaus had potential but what could you do, you were the ordinary surrounded by the extraordinary. So you supported Ben, sweet quiet Ben who so clearly loved his brother.
You were siblings but shared no blood ties, and you knew that at this age what you felt was slightly more than platonic. Just as you knew that eventually they would evolve into something more. How could they not?
His powers saw others shy away from him, scared of the horrors within. But that's what made him extraordinary, let me clarify not his powers but how he uses them. The others let their gifts go to their heads. Luthor with his strength believes himself to be the best, invincible. Allison who uses her powers to get whatever she wants. Diego who became arrogant, rushing in constantly trying to take charge, Number Five is who knows where and Klaus who runs from his, spending his days in a drug filled haze.
But Ben, Ben was humble and didn't let his powers define him, he hated hurting others, wanted to get in and out on missions. He was, you believed, fundamentally a good person.
As you grew, you stayed in the shadows, unimportant, unseen helping Dad in anyway possible to make sure the team ran smoothly. Also helping Mom around the house, bake and other such things.
Well you did have a hidden agenda on learning to bake. You wanted to make something for Ben. Lately you began to have more than platonic feelings, you caught your self looking for him when you entered a room. Smiling when he was helping Klaus. A crush Mom said, all data pointed to a crush and so she suggested making him something. So here I was learning to make his favourite biscuits.
You stood covered in flour, marvelling at how easy Mom made this all seem. You looked on mournfully at the slightly burnt biscuits, what did it say that these were the best batch? You heard footsteps, and turned gulping when you saw the object of your affections,
His nose crinkles at the sight of the usually pristine kitchen upturned, ingredients covering the counters. "What happened here"
You move to stand in front of the biscuits and laugh nervously waving his question off rather frantically. "Oh you know, just helping Mom."
He raised an eyebrow, amused at your flustered behaviour, it was rather cute. He walked closer peering over your shoulder at the plate of biscuits. Your shoulders slumped, and you let out a sigh.
"They were supposed to be Ginger Snap biscuits"
A smile tugged at his lips as you continued "They were supposed to be for you."
"For me?"
You sigh, hands playing with fiddling with your apron before turning and starting to clean the back tops. So he couldn't see the tears that began to sting your eyes.
He froze at your admission, touched at the gesture. He was often forgotten by his siblings, and in the background when it came to spending time with Mom. So this, this was unexpected, but it filled him with a warmth that you took the time to do this for him. Seeing your shoulders began to tremble he stepped forwards and placed a hand on your shoulder before steeling himself and brushing his lips against your cheek, blushing all the while.
This time it was your turn to freeze, and a blush spread across your face at the feel of him, you slowly turned around a silly grin on your face but unable to meet his eyes. He stretched past you to take a biscuit ignoring your protests. It was a bit burnt but gave a rather crisp snap as he nibbled on it but the effort made it all the more sweeter.
After that you two started to spend more time together, it had the added affect of you getting to know Klaus more, it was strange having someone who actually acted like a brother. He teased you and Ben but gratefully gave you two time two yourself and covered when you both would slip away for a moment. It wasn't much, just time spent in each others presence, a graze of hands when you past one another, twining fingers together under the dinner table. It was sweet, the perfect romance.
There were downsides to your new relationship of course, worry. Every time he went out on a mission you worried, he was reckless when it came to protecting Klaus, but you really couldn't blame him, none of the others care. Not to mention he was the one who got stuck fighting with multiple assailants due to his numerous tentacles. You did like what came after the missions though, you'd peer around the med-bay door and silently watch Pogo patch him up and then you’d both retire to one of your rooms and just lie on the bed, bodies pressed against each other sharing caresses, basking in his presence, just reassuring yourself he was here and he was safe.
Your first kiss was bittersweet. The mission alarm rang and the house was a flurry of activity as you stood beside Dad ready to leave. As the rest filed out Dad at the helm, you reached up to finish closing his zipper and smoothing your hands across his shoulders removing non existing lint. As you looked up, your eyes were caught by his, locked in a moment. His head bent towards yours and your eyes fluttered close as his lips touched yours, tentatively. You sigh into him encouragingly, as your mouths moved against each other, exploring. You broke apart lightly panting, foreheads pressed against each other smiling.
"I have to go" he said.
You nodded suddenly reluctant to let him leave and he pressed another brief kiss to your lips.
You followed Dad to a nearby building so as to watch how the mission played out. It was a usual tasks you helped Dad record what happened so as to go over how to improve for the next time they were called out. Yet this time it all went wrong, you leaned against the edge of the rooftop building peering through your binoculars when it happened. You could not say for sure exactly what happened only that one moment they were winning and the next they were not and there was a sea of red. A scream wrenched itself from your throat as you saw him fall, knuckles whitening from tension as you clutched the binoculars. The screams kept coming as he didn't get back up and you saw another of your siblings check him and start to cry.
You felt weightless numb, the world began to spin and you became vaguely aware of your Dad tugging you away from rapidly the approaching edge.
You had longed for years for any show of love from Dad but now, here,it left a sour taste, and you tried to frantically beat your hands on his chest. You collapsed to the ground with heart wrenching walls as his arms circled you, trying to muffle the sound, it wouldn't do for anyone to find you up here.
But you couldn't care, all you could see was the boy you loved drowning in blood, never again to kiss you, to hold you, to tell you that he finds you beyond extraordinary.
He was gone before you truly began. All those plans you had made, nights curled up in the library, making a future, gone. And now every memory would be tainted by his last. For once his name was apt. The Horror.
End.

Improve the Publications of your Properties by Internet and Multiply your Sales
Improve the Publications of your Properties by Internet and Multiply your Sales Learn in 5 minutes How to Improve Publications of Your Properties on OLX (or any other classified page) to Sell it 3 times Faster Let me put you in context ... You, like every Real Estate Agent, that moment comes when they understand that having an ACTIVE Internet presence is necessary to get more sales in your real estate business. I know that transition is not an easy thing, it is not for anyone. But no matter what, you've decided to take action. You took the risk ... Then you experimented with different platforms that allowed you to publish your properties for free ... Locanto, OLX, Fincaraiz, Metrocuadrado, and much more. But little by little you noticed that some are more efficient than others and you ended up being alone with 2 or maximum 3 where you have published since then. And sure OLX is within these three, right? However, you have noticed that while it has been efficient so far, you already begin to feel that something is not going as you would like. Do you want more! You don't feel happy with the results so far or you think things can be done better. And you wonder ... What can I do to improve my publications? How do I make my property ads more attractive and sell faster? Even if you have already sold here, you know how I can better exploit the potential of the free OLX platform. But let's go to the point and bluntly. Imagine for a moment ... What if it were possible that by following some new tips, you could improve the quality of your ads and sell your property 3 times faster? Would you like it? Well let me tell you that it is possible. Keep reading and you'll see how to get it. SIX (6) TIPS TO MAKE YOUR REAL ESTATE ADVERTISEMENTS IN OLX MORE EFFECTIVE
TYPE # 01: CLEARLY DEFINE THE CATEGORY. Although you may not believe it, some real estate agents do not specify the category of their properties. Either by carelessness or by wanting to reach a greater range of people, there are those who are not exact in the subcategory. For example, if you have a house or apartment for sale, make sure that the subcategory you choose is sales and not leases. Yes, it's very basic, I know, but an important detail too. Take advantage of this selection because it helps you to have your ad visited by people really interested in what you offer.
TIP # 02: VARIETY AND QUALITY OF PHOTOS. Uploading photos of the property is essential. What's more, ads with photos on OLX receive up to 5 times more visits than those without photos. The best thing is that you can upload a large number of photos, up to 22 photos of your property. Now, when uploading the photos of the property you need to choose the best photos. And how to take those photos? You can take the photographs yourself, it doesn't have to be a headache for you, nor do you need to be an expert. Just follow some quick tips how to:
2.1. Take photos with good lighting: And if the light is natural, much better. You can do the exercise of opening doors, curtains, windows and see from what points the photo is better illuminated. Look at an example:
Two photos of the same space that generate a different sensation due to the lighting and the point at which they are taken. How I told you, get good lighting and look for the point of space that has more potential.
2.2. Check that the camera lens is clean: If the lens has a bit of grease or a speck, the photo could lose sharpness or dirty spots on the lens could be seen. We often miss this, especially with the cell phone lens.
We forget that when you load it in your purse, pocket or by simple constant manipulation, the lens tends to get dirty. Remember to check it, it will take you 15 seconds for a long time but you will have better photos.
2.3. That they are not blurred or run: Not only the lens blur the photos. The movement or the weather can also influence, so just try to be firm and also have your hands when taking the picture.
If the weather makes things difficult for you, try to wait a bit or clean the lens regularly with a cloth, those used to clean the glasses can help you.
2.4. Take care of the good presentation of the property: By this I don't just mean the decoration (if any) or the state of the infrastructure, which is already the property's own, and many times it doesn't depend on you. I emphasize the cleanliness of the place, check that at least the floor is swept and washed and the dust shaken. The image of a dirty and neglected place is a bit unpleasant and can create a discouragement in who visits your ad.
Even a simple trick: Lower the toilet lid, when you take pictures of the bathroom. Do not get caught by the customer with a submarine walking around. Just having that lid open gives a bad look. Watch out for this. 2.5 Take photos of each space of the property: You have 22 photos at your disposal, take advantage of them and Capital smart city take pictures of the entire property and even the social areas.
Remember to photograph the rooms and their closets, the kitchen and its details, the clothes room, the bathrooms, balconies, etc. These are, in summary, some photography tips that I give you and that I know you can easily follow.
TYPE # 01: CLEARLY DEFINE THE CATEGORY. The owner must express the essence of your offer. This is why it is important that you use keywords in the headline, that you are ultra specific and show the user that what you offer is useful for him / her. For example, it is not the same as you put: • Owner A: "I am selling an apartment" to ... • Title B: “I am selling a large residential house in San Francisco Corner” The first owner, the A, you are just saying that you are selling an apartment, and that's it. But in the second headline, the B, there are certain characteristics that make it more striking: • Property type • Use of that property • Location • A striking feature • Uppercase in the first letter of keywords. So: how could the first one improve? Surely something like: "I am selling a Brand New Apartment in the Residential Area of Floridablanca" ... It would be more attractive! This will help you get the attention of more serious prospects who are really interested in a type of property like yours and want to know more about it. And even, it helps you better to position on Google.
Think about this: How would you look for that type of property, if you went to Google to consult? Use those words. Sure they will help you position better.
TIP # 04: HIGHLIGHT THE STRONG POINTS OF YOUR PROPERTY. It's time for the truth. You must write the description of the property, and in some cases, the text box is limited. How to take advantage, then, of the description? It is natural that you begin by describing the technical data as ... • Number of rooms, • Bathrooms, • Square meter, • Antiquity, • Stratum and • The other spaces of the property are already written in the file that generates the OLX platform. But avoid placing that first. Leave it for below. What I advise you to do is highlight the strength of the property, or maximum three strengths, in terms of benefits.
That is, if you know that a strong point of this property is the area, because it has more security and is close to everything. So, don't just say the same thing: "Close to everything." What if you say something else, like: The pleasure of walking safely around your area and having everything you need at hand. Or if it is the generous of the spaces of the rooms, do not limit yourself with saying: "Large bedrooms." No. Everyone says that. It is drawer. What if you add something like: Large bedrooms of 3 x 4 meters, so that you never feel that you are locked, like in a matchbox.
The same applies to the living room, kitchen or social area. You can take those strengths and describe them in more detail, I assure you that it will be more interesting to read that description than one where you repeat all the data that we have already seen separately. And then, if you want, you can put a summary in list, the essential characteristics of the property. By the way, one more tip on this: At the end of the writing, review your description aloud, so you will verify that it is super clear and specific.
TIP # 05: KEEP YOUR PROFILE UPDATED. Please keep your contact information updated. Many times the mobile number is changed, and it is not updated in the ads. Error! If you don't do this, you could lose a lot of sales! Keeping your contact information up to date will allow you to be aware of your potential customers and serve them effectively. It is very important that people who see your notice have the assurance that there is a person behind that ad, someone who is there to advise them and who will answer your questions efficiently. Don't leave your profile either. Upload a photo, update your data constantly and validate your Facebook account.
Although it seems irrelevant, being aware of these three simple recommendations will help you increase your reliability. The confidence you convey when you show that your property has a real face and that there is someone who can help make a decision is a factor that you should not overlook. If you manage to build credibility and trust you will have a large part of the advanced ground. And you will get more visits, better results, and a better sales rate.
TYPE # 06: FAST OR FURIOUS. The following information applies, mainly for OLX, but surely the other classified pages will have similar characteristics to this. What have you not seen the featured packages offered by OLX? Surely yes. You know, I'm like you, I like the free or what is triple B: Well, nice and cheap. But, let's face it, it's not always like that. Quality has its price, right? Therefore, do not overlook ichs town them, it is an investment that is really worth it, because they keep your ads alive and also allow you to publish more and place yourself better in certain spaces of the OLX page. Choose the one that best suits your interests and you will notice that your ads will be updated every certain period of time, giving you more visibility and sales opportunities.
Ready the chicken! Now that you have read these tips, what remains is to go to practice. You will see that adding a little technique to the OLX publishing process will be productive and valuable for your business. In the end I assure you that you will see better results. Believe me, these 6 quick but powerful tips will help you improve your results on this platform, and even others, and sell your properties much faster.
By the way, do you have any TIP that works for you and want to share it with me? Write me your opinions below in the comments.

Fan(fic) Friday: Spotlight on Peni Griffin
Sul sul!
Today, I have a special treat for you guys. I had the chance to ask the very delightful @penig a few questions about Widespot and The Sims in general. For those of you who aren’t familiar with her work, she has created two widely popular hoods for The Sims 2: Land Grant University and the aforementioned Widespot. It’s longer than usual, and Peni expressed the concern that it would needed to be edited down, but in all honesty, her responses were such a wealth of information, deleting any of it seemed wrong.
I’ll stop teasing you, and let Peni speak for herself:
What inspired you to create Widespot?
“I’m always in story creation mode. This has been a large part of the appeal of The Sims 2 for me, as it allows me to tell a particular kind of story that I will never, ever be able to write for publication, and have always wanted to: the story of a community in which we see every character as the hero of her own story, and how all the stories intertwine (often without the protagonists recognizing it) and affect each other as they all go about their business.”
“At the time I started Widespot, I was in a situation in which my normal professional outlets were not available to me. You will excuse me from going into detail on the subject, which can be summed up as Health Crap. For our purposes, the important thing was that I needed a project, I couldn’t work on a book, I had been thinking for some time about the potential of my favorite game as a storytelling medium, and enough discussion of the matter had been generated over at MTS that I found/was directed to the late lamented Mootilda’s thread on creating a clean, safe, populated neighborhood for sharing. ( http://modthesims.info/t/455403)”
“I actually went into some detail about the process on my writing blog at the time.”
Did you take inspiration from the Maxis neighborhoods?
“To a certain extent, yes. I decided that what I wanted to create was a neighborhood that would feel and play as if it had shipped with the game, but with less mess. No dead people without full character data, no memories that outright contradict each other, no hints in the bios that can’t be fully explored in the game.”
In your neighborhood, you included different story elements for each family that interconnect. What is your process in developing this story?
“Somewhere around here, I have the notebook in which I first started working it out, but I’d have to dig to find it. I remember starting with the admonition to myself to keep it simple, as your first attempt at publishing in a medium should be simple - you have enough to do mastering the new medium without trying to make something complicated with it. I knew my genre was soap opera, and though I’ve never been much of a soap watcher, my mother and husband are, so that set my parameters. I listed the tools at my disposal - the five base game aspirations, the jealousy mechanics, and the generational play. The question I asked myself at the start of the process was: “How do I create the most Drama for the least amount of effort?”
“Probably the notion of having five aspiration-themed households came almost at once, possibly as I started making name lists. I wanted to give elders a big role, because I had noticed that a lot of people thought elders were “boring,” and I knew they were wrong! I’ve always felt that Maxis missed a big trick by not having a Scheming Matriarch in Pleasantview. I wanted to shake up some stereotypes and have sims who didn’t obviously “belong” in their aspirations - shy Romance sims, outgoing Knowledge sims, lazy Fortune sims. I wanted all the households intimately connected to each other, which meant that for simplicity’s sake the story (story being defined as “person with a problem”) should center around one particular event that triggered events in all the households, a cascade of consequence. At which point I wrote down “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a fortune must be in want of a wife,” and decided that the wealthy Mann family coming to town with a highly marriageable son and a Dark Secret was a good place to start.”
“That turned out not to be the trigger, but you have to start somewhere.”
Aside from your official captions, how did you set out to convey plot to those who play Widespot?
“I tried to take pictures of enough key moments that the players could inspect the albums for clues. By playing out the development I had ensured that some important information already existed in the memories and relationship panels, but I also went in and inserted memories that seemed to me significant. I had specific meanings in mind when I gave Mary memories of potty-training her younger siblings that extend all the way back to teenhood and manipulated some of her relationship scores with the testing cheats, but I wanted the players to be free to interpret those memories and relationships according to their own ideas, so I tried to background my own opinions as much as possible.”
“The plot, after all, is the players’ job, not mine!”
As far as literal world building goes, how did you factor in your characters’ surroundings to both their plotlines and their characterization?
“The smallness of the town, necessitated by the decision to keep things as simple as possible, gave me the starting point and the town’s name - it’s just a wide spot in the road, hardly a town at all. Rural areas have a certain vibe; certain types of people grow up there, and certain kinds of people wind up there, so this was on my mind as I designed the characters, built their homes, and decided what order they should be created in CAS and moved in. Each house has a history, not all of which is necessarily made explicit to the player, and some of which really, really made me long for something more than BG Maxis content! But I think most people get that the Land cabin was built piecemeal over time, that a lot of Skye’s house was DIY, that the Beech house is Daytona’s house and the rest of her family just lives there, etc. Skye only got educational toys for his kids, but the Lands have a teddy and a dollhouse as well. The Mann’s house is the only one with a fence, and Rich ensures his privacy with stained glass windows in certain rooms. He also has that ominous closet full of aspiration rewards. (I hate that I couldn’t get him a counterfeiting machine - he clearly needs one.)”
“Some details were dictated by the game mechanics. Penny needed a double bed to get pregnant in, but there’s no particular reason for one to exist on her lot; so the heck with it, everybody in that house gets a double bed and I don’t even try to explain it. The lowest-numbered playable in the hood is always the telescope slapper, so I had to create the Mann family first in order for the guy with the Dark Secret to be the one who was incensed at the possibility of being spied on. But who would beard Rich in his own den when he, Lana, or Junior used the telescope in the daytime? That would be the local cop, wouldn’t it? This is why the Land house (with the nubile Land daughters) is right behind the Mann house and the Mann telescope is pointed straight at it. I also used the house to train the Manns - especially Junior - into wanting to buy things by furnishing it minimally to start with, and then adding items as wants were rolled for expensive artwork, games, etc.”
“When I gave characters their starting skill points, I assigned them partly at random, partly according to the implied backstory and role, and partly according to what would be possible in the game. If logic or a random roll indicated that someone in a household had a skill, I made sure that suitable skilling items existed in that household. Woody has an easel because it’s a solitary tool for gaining creativity points; the other families have the more sociable piano. Neither family is much concerned about the impression they make on the outside world, so they are not oversupplied with mirrors, unlike the other families, where Charisma matters.”
“This all works back and forth; the character or situation requires something in the setting, and then I realize that having this thing here means that I also need this and that means I should improve the relationship between these two characters, or whatever. My first and best playtester insisted to me that Goldie needed a teddy bear, and made a good case for it based on Goldie’s characterization, both in the bios and as played; and she was right, so I added it almost at the last minute. (Which is why, so often, the first thing Rhett does it pick it up and try to talk to someone through it.)”
“One thing that I was aware of during development, but am a little reluctant to discuss, is the possible implications for the setting of the racial makeup of the neighborhood. At the time I was born, in the state where I was born, the Land and Beech marriages would have been illegal; and I had that in mind when I mentioned familial disapproval in the Land bios. Some people pick that up and run with it, most people ignore it. Most people look at the Hart’s Spanish-style house and decide (despite the name) that the family has a Mediterranean or Mexican background, but others have decided that Valentine is black/white biracial and all the Spanish influence comes from Angel. I have no desire to dictate anybody’s interpretation or play style, but I do want to enable as many interpretations and play styles as possible, and this variety is an indication of success to me.”
In a lot of ways, fans have come to regard Widespot as highly as they regard the original three Maxis neighborhoods. Did you envision the neighborhood being this popular?
“I beat my “expectations” about the reception of any particular work to death years ago. While I was building Widespot, I told myself that if the only person who liked it was Aegagropilon (my first playtester), that would be good enough and anybody else’s approval would be gravy. Well, Aegagropilon loved it; and I’ve lapped up quite a bit of gravy since then. I don’t have much of a grasp of how popular it actually is, and that’s not the important thing. The important thing is that I know some people are playing it, and enjoying it, and using it in different ways. How many there are, and how it stacks up next to the many other (and in some cases far more sophisticated) fan made hoods out there, is out of my hands. I’m better off not dwelling on that.”
How did Widespot evolve after you started? Were there any massive deviations from your original plan?
“Development was an alternating process of playing (including building, character design, and actual play) and working things out on paper in illegible notes, which is always how I work. I haven’t properly thought anything till I’ve written it down, but I’m a “pantser” rather than a “plotter” - i.e. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants when creating. Too much planning kills the story for me. So once all the preliminary work had been set up, and the broad strokes of the storyline determined, the rest was done directly in the game, with a little help from the testing cheats, Tombstone of Life and Death, and so on.”
“I knew I needed to wind up with a baby for every adult woman, but I didn’t always know who specifically would be the father of each baby until I saw how characters interacted. I knew one of the households would have a ghost, but for awhile I thought it might be Lana. I assumed Candy would have two lovers but I thought one of them would be Hamilton until she informed me otherwise. As mentioned earlier, I thought the Manns would be the central, triggering household rather than the Harts. I had no plans for the teens or children at all, and they took care of their own storylines”.
On a different note, what was your inspiration for the dynamic between the Harts and the rest of Widespot’s inhabitants? How did you develop the idea for these entanglements?
“As a family of Romance sims, their job was to wreak havoc. And boy, howdy, did they! But only after I realized Angel had to be the town ghost. The family ran much too smoothly when she was in charge - she and Valentine constantly smooching it up, Rhett being Mama’s boy, Candy being Goldie’s social support. Kill Angel, and everybody falls apart and starts making bad decisions. I designed Valentine as a Dirty Old Man; but he refused to be only that. I designed Rhett as a heartless jerk, and he can be that - but he’s also the only one of the immature Mama’s boys in the hood who has lost his Mama. I designed Candy as a golddigger, and yeah, she is - but she also made friends with Daytona and Goldie without any prompting from me, and she put herself in the middle of what turned out to be the hardest knot to untie in the whole hood, the Mann Triangle.”
“And Goldie - well, Goldie was a darling who autonomously put the rest of her family ahead of herself repeatedly, could never finish her homework, and never once brought anyone home from school or came home with anyone else.”
“TL;DR: I didn’t develop the Harts. They did.”
You’ve been very active on both Mod the Sims and Tumblr for a while now. How has The Sims community evolved since you first got involved? Why do you think there is still such a strong following of the series?
“It’s hard for me to speak to how it’s evolved, since I was never part of the Age of LJ and only started playing Sims 2 since after Sims 3 was already out. Also, having been on the fringes of a lot of subcultures in my life, I have become adept at keeping away from the stuff that stresses me out. So I’ve never hung out at SimSecret. I block tags on tumblr. I avoid anything smacking of edition wars, don’t allow anonymous communication, and back out of controversies as fast as I can - with an apology if necessary, because face it, everybody’s a jerk on the internet sometimes, and the most you can hope for is to not be one any more often than you can help.”
“So I have no idea how the Sims community as a whole is going on, and I only have a limited knowledge of the portion of the Sims 2 fandom that hangs around specifically at MTS and attracts my attention on Tumblr (often by tagging Widespot). Within this limited sphere, I have noticed a few changes. I used to see it assumed as common consensus that all Maxis premades were “ugly” and that “ugly” is a bad thing; moreover, that certain sims - Goopy Gilscarbo and Sandy Bruty in particular - are more “ugly” than most and are to be avoided at all costs. Now people are shipping Goopy and Sandy (that’s largely @holleyberry’s doing, I believe) and embracing the cartooniness of sims with enthusiasm.”
“On older websites I often see “realistic” (i.e., modeled on airbrushed photos in fashion magazines) sims that, as far as I can tell, are identical to each other and to the ones on the other old websites they link to. With current websites, however, I can not only tell the sims from each other, I can tell Person A’s versions of the premades from Person B’s at a glance. This is especially marked on tumblr, where I often know who originally posted the pics I’m looking at regardless of the attached avatar.”
“And there has been such a flowering of creativity in so many directions in the last eight years it’s overwhelming, though I don’t know how that compares to the days before I started participating. I like to think of Widespot as the vanguard of a Golden Age of hood-sharing. Nobody moans about the lack of clean fan made neighborhoods anymore; they’re agonizing over whether to play Europa or Widespot or Emerald Heights or Polgannon. And suddenly people are making new face sliders. Neighborhood deco lights up at night now. There’s mods for parking on the street, taking toddlers and pets on vacation, hunting, foraging, beekeeping, on and on and on.”
“I think the main difference between now and eight years ago is, that people were defensive about still playing Sims 2, and a general air of playing a “dying game” hung over us all. Now we are joyous and defiant and declaring that Our Game is the Best and Will Never Die.”
“Or maybe that’s just the people I self-select to see. How would I know?”
As a writer by trade, did you find many similarities between creating Widespot and writing a novel?
“My experience has always been that there’s an underlying unity among all kinds of creation, and in particular that storytelling is storytelling, whether it’s the language of text, sound, line and color, or whatever. My writing habits and skills translated seamlessly into the medium of the game. The chief difference, once you factor out technical matters, is that in most forms of storytelling, you need to provide a discrete unit of Story and give the reader the pleasures of closure and narrative structure, pruning out everything that disrupts that weakens the sense of completeness.”
“When making a sims neighborhood, though, you need to be as open-ended as possible, and you need to discern the optimum moment to turn the hood over to the player, while it’s still bristling with plot hooks and unresolved situations. You don’t need, as I did, to deliberately choose the moment at which a bunch of hard choices must be made immediately; but you need to put the player into a situation in which the choices he makes will matter and shape how the neighborhood develops from that point.”
You often play neighborhoods like Pleasantview and Strangetown. Do you prefer playing your own sims or those created by Maxis?
“That’s like asking if I prefer to read Diana Wynne Jones or Megan Whelan Turner. (And if you aren’t familiar with those authors, boy do you have some great reading ahead of you!) The answer is “both.” I enjoy playing characters I’m engaged with, regardless of who made them. Sometimes I wonder what’s going on with Vidcund and want to play Strangetown; sometimes I want to reconnect with the sims in Drama Acres, my personal custom neighborhood; sometimes I want to play with some of my own plot hooks from Widespot. It’s all good.”
If you had to pick between Widespot and Land Grant University, which would you choose?
“I’d attach LGU to Widespot and play them both. I don’t do either/or choices.”
(She just defeated the Kobayashi Maru.)
Do you intend on creating more neighborhoods?
“I actually have three on hand right now: a downtown called Bigg City (an empty version of which is available on SFS http://simfileshare.net/download/207580/ ); a Seasons/Pets neighborhood I call Knotthole County; and an AL neighborhood called Port Cochere. The populated Bigg City got real complicated, real fast and when Health Crap is in a certain state I can’t work on it. Knotthole County is almost completely built but got interrupted while I was designing the characters; and Port Cochere is an SC4 map and a bunch of illegible notes. And at the moment I can’t work on any of them because I need two disk drives in order to use AGS, and one of them has gone wonky. However, I should be able to replace that soon, and then - well, maybe I’ll finally get that last week of work done on Bigg City. Or maybe I’ll decide (again) that if I’m organized enough to work on that, I should seize the moment and get queries out instead.”
Your content is themed around The Sims 2; have you played other titles in the series?, If so, which installment in The Sims is your favorite to play? For storytelling? For building? For creating sims?
“I’m a late adopter by nature. I started with the original The Sims and played it till I felt I didn’t have anything more to discover in it, at which time I started looking into the Sims 2, assuming that I’d eventually plumb its depths, too, and move on to Sims 3 about the time Sims 4 came along. Then I discovered that Sims 2’s depths are unplumbable, and that it was the perfect vehicle for that all-community storytelling I’d always longed to do.”
“The more I learn about the later iterations, the more certain I am that I will never play them. I’m sure they’re fun in their own ways, and I certainly don’t look down on anyone who chooses to play them; but I don’t like the way they look, I don’t like the lack of a storytelling tool, and most of all, the mechanics and structure of the game don’t enable my style of neighborhood play. The Sims series consists of four distinct games with four distinct sets of strengths and weaknesses; and the first two are the only ones I feel any call to play.”
Lastly, why do you still continue to play The Sims? Do you feel that the games provide a positive creative outlet?
“It still gives me pleasure. And I still have Health Crap and need projects, and have a computer that will play it. The Sims 2 is as much a part of my life as reading and playing tabletop RPGs and board games with my friends. So why would I stop?”
“The game is a positive creative outlet - it has nothing to do with my feelings on the subject. One of the most rewarding things about having made Widespot and LGU is seeing people use them as springboards for developing and experimenting with their own creative capacities. Also, a lot of simmers are deliberately using the game to control or relieve some condition or other. Depression, OCD, chronic pain from which they need distraction - I’m not the only one with Health Crap, and I am honored whenever anyone uses something I made to deal with theirs.”
“They could have done these things without me, of course - but they didn’t. They used something I made for their own benefit, and I can feel good about that.”
Any parting comments, teasers, spoilers, public service announcements, etc.?
“One of the core concepts by which I live my life is that creativity is the quality that defines humanity best, and that it is the birthright of every single one of us. But we’ve been educated to think that it’s something special and separate, accessible only to certain special “talented” people; and brainwashed to think that personal creativity that can’t be monetized is a trivial use of time. On the contrary, creativity is to a large extent what time is for. Whether it’s a book, or a game, or a prom dress, the process of making is fulfilling and enriching, and sharing what we make is nourishing to us and to those we share with. So whatever your medium is, whatever resources are available to you, whatever ideas are quickening in your brain and hands - go for it.”
“It is not a silly waste of time.”
To those of you who haven’t played Widespot, go check it out; you won’t regret it. Thanks again to Peni Griffin for allowing me to pick her brain, and I hope you all enjoyed reading it. I certainly found a new favorite word in “pantser.”

CALDER'S SCULPTURES NEVER GET BORING
This is part of what big companies pay extra for is the next Apple, or the market wasn't ready yet, b the founders solved the wrong problem. While writing the prototype, the group has been traversing their network of friends in search of angel investors. I think new theorems are a fine thing to create, but there are few outside the US, startups will do a rolling close, where they can choose for themselves, rely instead on the opinions of other investors. Big companies think the function of office space is to express rank. I think a bigger problem is that the kind of things most people use computers for, a tenth of your time working on new stuff. The smart ones learn who the other smart ones are, and together they cook up new projects of their own, they'd screw it up. Even worse than the spectacular abuses might be the overall decrease in efficiency that would accompany increased secrecy. You don't have the clean, sparse feel they used to be for getting users. A lot of investors hated the idea, but not because of some right turn the country took during the Reagan administration, but because it gives you another source of ideas: look at big companies, you'd need an impressive-looking sales force to sell it to them as a web service. But with company names there is another possible approach. In fact, the reason startups do better when deprived of this crutch anyway. The first stories about Jaynes cited this source, but now that the things we build are so complicated, there's another way to convince investors to let you do it like a pilot scanning the instrument panel, not like a detective trying to unravel some mystery.
The url is in such cases practically enough by itself to determine whether the email is neutral, the spam probability will hinge on the url, and it was like trying to run through waist-deep water. For some reason this seems to be toward the merely unpalatable. That means it has to stay popular to stay good. As long as you're profitable. Or rather, my inbox is a todo list. After we fund startups we work closely with them for three months outweighs the inconvenience of moving. In such rounds they won't get the 25 to 40% of the company and demand that it take immediate action to cure any past violations of securities laws. At best you end up with a statistical sort of correctness. Can't you just think of new ideas. In fact, the language encourages you to be omniscient, but actually they tend to be about 15? We're just working on search. One of our axioms at Y Combinator is not to try to create a startup hub.
And when people seem to share a certain prickly independence, whenever and wherever they lived. We hated our last TV so much that a competitor will trip them up as that they will trip over themselves. You don't need to raise money, but also as a way of saving you work, rather than carry a single unnecessary ounce. In theory you could stick together ideas at random like this, but others haven't decided what they'll do afterward. To me she seems the best novelist of all time. Don't be evil. But investors are so fickle that you can learn from them. On the other hand, startup investing is a very strange business. When you have the degenerate case. For a startup, then hand them off to VC firms for the next round. Good ideas and valuable ideas are very close to good ideas, use them, but more than full-time.
So the lower we can get the response rate—whether by filtering, or by redesigning the product in the way of redesign. There's a real difference, because an assertion provokes objections in a way that seemed to reflect the personality of the city. And while governments might be able to pinch it off at the point where they're used. And no one can tell you, that requires your complete attention. Only a few do so far, startups that turn down acquisition offers is not necessarily that all such offers undervalue startups. There will be many different ways to learn different things, and some may look quite different from what happens in college. That's orders of magnitude better than desktop software. Our startup begins when a group of people they didn't already know. If you're starting your own company, because you're only replacing one segment instead of discarding the whole thing. Though I'd really like to know how she does what she does, I can't imagine they'll work any less hard to feed stories to bloggers, if they built whole towns, market forces would compel them to pay attention to you. Now survival is the default, instead of paying attention to what users needed, or c the company spent too much and burned through their funding before they started to make the implementation easier to port, but it turned out that many did. You release software as a series A round, the round is going to solve this problem, but it can be good for writing the kinds of programs they want to write desktop software, because desktop software has become a lot less money.
But I think that while stricter laws may not decrease the amount of memory you need for each user's data. One solution to this problem, without waiting for the government. When he rides the Eunicycle, people smile at him. How are they to hear? What a wonderful thing, to be able to reproduce the error and release a fix. US News & World Report. Some time before the release date you assemble a new version of your software by a certain date? And when someone can put on my todo list, I looked to see if there was a problem with acquisitions is that they lead to more ideas.
And then there is the question of what this new Lisp also had powerful libraries for doing what hackers want to do it. Their format is convenient, especially when you're generating code, to have operators that take any number of arguments. This should yield a much sharper estimate of the probability. You have to make their fortunes will continue to work for people with high standards. Last year one founder spent the whole first half of his talk on a fascinating analysis of the limits of the conventional desktop metaphor. And it has to be modified to: stay upwind for as long as you're still actively developing the product. One way of using patents that clearly does not encourage innovation is when established companies with bad products use patents to suppress small competitors with good products. Result: if it can't contain exciting sales pitches, spam becomes less effective as a marketing vehicle, and fewer businesses want to use. This was not how things worked at Viaweb. He said their business model is a down elevator. Another great thing about Web-based applications. The problem is, the USPTO are not hackers.
One easy way to build such a whitelist is to keep a list of the n most admirable people. And the way founders end up net ahead it's not coming out of organs not designed for that purpose. And put this kind of bug is the hardest to find, and also occurs once or twice in a big program is to start from the symptom and hope to fix the underlying causes. It also has to convince instead of commanding. They just want to invest in you, or his only duty is to the advantage of investors. This time the evidence is a mix of good and bad. In effect, this structure gives the investor a free option on the next round of investors can decide in a couple days. You can afford to be candid about what you haven't figured out yet. Writing is the same reason readers like them.
But it's also because money is not the hours but the responsibility. I had to predict now, I'd say that startups will build on, they have to understand the advantages startups get from being in America. Jack Lambert. The defining feature of spam in fact, that would not only not eliminate great variations in wealth, but might even exacerbate them. You might say that it's an accident that it thus helps identify this spam. If anyone is dishonest, it's the reporters. The problem in more traditional places like Europe and Japan goes deeper than the employment laws. A throwaway program is something that more and more programs may turn out to be really useful.

Jealousy
So, it’s almost 11pm at night. I still have to pack a week’s worth of shit to go home tomorrow. I have to study vital information for my job and read a contract for a new job. I have to clean my room. I have to finish some work. And I have to get to bed by at least 1 because I have work at 9.
SO HEY LET’S WRITE SOME FANFICTIONS THAT LITERALLY NOBODY ASKED FOR!!! :D
Summary: Quark grabs something he shouldn’t and Data gets very jealous.
Warnings: Minor unwanted groping, a bit of possessiveness, but otherwise not a whole lot.
The Enterprise arrived at Deep Space 9 at 0930 hours. Most of the crew had elected to go to Bajor to spend some shore leave in the sunshine, but most of the bridge crew and some lower officers, including yourself, decided to stay and explore/study the ex-Cardassian station.
Picard had arranged for nearly two weeks of shore leave since it had been nearly four months since their last chance to take a breather. Everyone, even Data, had begun to get irritable, tired, antsy, you name it. It was surprising that you managed to feel relieved as you stepped onto the station. You had expected it to be little different than stepping from one endless hallway on the Enterprise to another. But, whether it was because of the array of people, the cheers of “DABO!” echoing all the way down to the docking bay, or even just the way the air smelled just the tiniest smidge more like Andorian cuisine, the second you had through the doors you felt a giant weight come off your shoulders, as though the last four months were only three and a half. Mostly, you were excited to see O’Brian. He had been your tutor on board the Enterprise, and a very dear friend. It had been about two years since he and Keiko transferred to DS9 and you hadn’t seen him since then.
Data took your hand in his as he came up behind you. He gave you a genuine smile that you happily returned, and the two of you headed towards the Promenade. As you two stepped over the bulkhead, you heard the screeching of Lwaxana Troi shouting, “Odo!” You could just barely see the brightly clad woman nearly sprinting across the Promenade after a man with a halfway-defined face who was trying to inconspicuously run the other way. Deanna and Will stood off to the side, laughing to themselves. Lwaxana had been talking about practically nothing but the station’s chief of security for the three weeks she was aboard the Enterprise, much to Picard’s relief.
Data quickly became the object of attention, with several alien scientists converging on him, asking him a trillion questions about his processing speeds, his aging processes, his positronic matrix. He started being physically pushed away from you and you just laughed, waving him on. “Go ahead, I’m going to go find O’Brian.” He tried to stammer something out, but waved it off with a sigh and turned his attention to his adoring fans.
You watched him go with a smile before you felt a shoulder bump intentionally into yours. You looked over and saw O’Brian there, smiling widely at you. “Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,” he said, folding his arms across his chest.
You laughed and clapped your hand on his shoulder. “Oh, Chief, you have absolutely no idea.”
He chuckled, taking your arm in his, and he started guiding you to what looked like a bar. “Come, let’s have a drink and catch up a bit. You can tell me all about how my ship is holding up.”
The two of you sat at the bar for what felt like minutes (but, judging by the soreness of your butt, was really two or three hours) before O’Brian’s combadge chirped and someone asked him to take a look at a personal replicator which would only produce stale gagh. You said your goodbyes and he left you with a hug, promising to see you again tomorrow.
You turned your back to the bar, leaning your elbows on it and you watched the gambling tables with latent interest. After a while, the Ferengi barkeep approached, wringing his hands nervously. “Um, I’m afraid you two will have to order something else or my brother will—”
He couldn’t finish his idea before another Ferengi, this one not wearing the traditional Ferengi headdress and who was wearing a surprisingly nice suit, swatted him away. “I am so sorry for Rom. He’s an idiot, but he’s family. My name is Quark. Is there something I can get you? A Cardassian Sunrise? Some Dabo chips? Some…time in the holosuite, perhaps?”
You smiled at him, not noticing how the simple action seemed to make him do a double take. “You know, I would love a Romulan Ale. But, considering that it’s illegal, I’ll settle for Bloodwine, neat.”
He nodded and slipped behind the bar. “So, what brings you to DS9?”
You turned to face him, putting your chin in your hand. “Shore leave.”
“Hell of a place for shore leave. Here you go, one ‘Bloodwine.’”
You quirked an eyebrow and smirked at him as you looked down at your clearly-not-red drink. “Why, thank you.” You took a sip and sighed in relaxation. “This is some good ‘Bloodwine.’”
“Only the best for my esteemed customers.” He took to wiping out a raktajino mug, eyeing you up and down. “What ship are you based out of? Obviously Starfleet. You sure seemed to know the Chief, too. If I had to guess, I’d say…Enterprise?”
You nodded to him, taking another sip of your Romulan Ale. “You got it. First shore leave in four months.”
He let out a whistle, learning against his side of the bar. “That’s rough. A pretty thing like you deserves to be in the sun, not cooped up in some boring old starship.”
You raised your eyebrows at him and finished your ale in a quick move. You decided to let the sexism go. Ferengis weren’t known for their political correctness or their appropriate behavior around women. You tapped on the glass and put it back on the bar. “Well, without O’Brian, it’s just me and Geordi who can keep the thing in the air. Er, you know what I mean.”
He refilled your glass, slowly, you suppose so he could stare at your breasts. You kind of regretted your dress, at least the strapless-ness of it. It was floor length, grey with thin white stripes, and the bust was too short for your breasts. But, the bust was tight enough that you didn’t need a bra, and damn if your cleavage didn’t look good. You almost couldn’t be offended that he wanted to stare. You snapped at him, pointing up to your face. “Up here, buddy. Eyes off the merchandise.”
He cleared his throat and stood up, passing you a refilled glass. “So this Geordi guy. He your boyfriend?”
You scoffed. “No. We tried it once. It was terrible. Like, the worst.”
He grew a devious smile and scooted around to sit by you, bringing the bottle of Ale with him and another glass. “You don’t say.”
You subconsciously scooted about halfway off of your stool, away from him. You shrugged, shooting back the glass in one go and passed it to him to refill. “Eh. It was a long time ago.”
You weren’t looking at him, but if you had, you would have seen how his arm didn’t return to his side after he passed your drink back. Instead, it went straight to your ass, which he promptly gave a squeeze. You let out a squeal and jumped to your feet, bumping back into something hard. You turned to look and saw Data and sighed in relief. “Oh, Data. It’s you.”
Data moved around you and partially shielded you from Quark. You saw the Ferengi stumble over his stool, eyes wide as he took in the android. “Hey, look pal, there’s just been some kind of misunderstanding here.”
Data let out a noise that sounded sort of like a growl before he grabbed the Ferengi’s chest and drew the shorter man up off the floor. It was kind of funny to see his legs kicking in the air. “You have inappropriately placed your hands upon my girlfriend. I suggest you begin explaining how there was a ‘misunderstanding.’”
The Ferengi stammered for words, clawing at Data’s hand.
You gently touched Data’s other arm, wrapping yours around it. “Data, honey, it’s not worth it.”
Data looked at you and the anger in his expression instantly faded away. He turned back to Quark and put him down, a little roughly. “Let this be a lesson to you. It is never appropriate to touch somebody without their permission.” He glowered down at Quark. “No matter what you are misconceiving. Without spoken, sober consent, you are committing assault.”
Quark nodded, raising his hands in defense. “I hear you, I hear you. I’ll never touch a woman again.”
Data nodded, and almost turned to leave before he turned back. “And, apologize to the lady.”
Quark started spewing out the fastest, most afraid apology you had ever heard. You held up your hand to him to shut him up, reached across and grabbed the glass of ale, and knocked it back. “Just put these drinks on the house and I’ll let it slide.”
The Ferengi started to protest, no doubt because Romulan Ale is difficult to smuggle in, but thought better of it when he saw Data’s quirked brow. “Of course, yes, please, take the bottle.”
You beamed at him, accepting it from him wordlessly before you turned to leave, tugging on Data’s arm. “Come on, Data. I want to go watch the wormhole.”
The two of you sat on the railing above the Promenade, watching the wormhole open and close with ships coming and going. You looked over at Data, inebriation starting to take hold of your mind. You scooted closer to him and took his hand in yours. “Thank you, Data.”
He turned to you and quirked his brow. “For what?”
You smiled, leaning your head on his shoulder, entwining your fingers in his. “For coming to my rescue. It was a little much, but I still appreciate it.”
He chuckled slightly, leaning his head on top of yours. “I believe I was feeling a new emotion.”
“Oh?” you said, looking up at him.
“Yes. It was a most unusual sensation. I saw you two sitting there and I was happy to see you. And then I observed that you were sitting 13.54 centimeters off of the edge of your stool away from him and I grew concerned. And then, when his hand began to move, I was overcome with such…anger, but not like anger I have ever experienced before. It was…overwhelming. But there was also an element of being insulted, and an element of protection, and also an element of fear and—”
You cut him off by putting your hand on his lips. “Data, babe, that emotion is called jealousy. A little jealousy every now and then is fine, natural, even to a small degree flattering. But, you have to be careful to not let it become too overpowering. There’s a fine line between jealousy and possession.”
He tilted his head, considering your words before his expression grew concerned. “Did I cross that line?”
You smiled slightly and kissed his cheek. “Maybe a little, but I’ll let it slide since you were so gallant. I mean, he did grab my ass.” You chuckled and pressed your lips to his before he could begin to express his next question and he smiled into you, wrapping his arma round your shoulders to pull you closer.
The two of you sat in front of the window for another hour or so until the station security chief Odo came by, swatting you two off of “his railings,” an enamored Lwaxana of Troi hanging onto his arm like a school girl.

What Happens on Nar Shaddaa Odessen. 21 ATC.
“Sending proof of completion now.” The figure’s distorted voice crackles over the speaker as the projection stutters and flickers above her desk. “As you requested. However, you should be aware there was a complication.”
She sighs.
“Define complication.” Nine pulls up the images, flipping through them idly: the buildings of the ranch now smoldering ruins, the equipment they’d had to leave behind rendered unusable, the rakghoul test subjects-
She wrinkles her nose. They’d had to leave so quickly and there was nothing else to be done with them, of course, no room to bring them to Odessen and the experimental process leaving them unsuitable for return to Taris. Stars know they couldn’t just leave them wandering- they’d have had an epidemic on their hands in no time at all. But seeing them laid out one by one in the pens…
The poison had worked, clearly, a blaster shot to each meant to finish the job but probably unnecessary by the look of the wounds. Clean. Merciful.
Still, it seems a shame.
“Someone sniffing around the complex. Republic military, to judge by kit. He fired on us.” Arms folded, the figure shifts from one foot to the other.“It’s been handled, and he wasn’t looking for you- some rogue SIS agent, according to his datapad- but I’m going to have to insist on a surcharge. Combat and sentient disposal weren’t part of the initial agreement.”
She flips to the last image.
Shit. She should have known they weren’t going to leave Coruscant behind so easily as that. “Fine,” she says. “An additional fifty. Sixty if you send me the contents of that datapad.”
“Two hundred.”
“Oh, fuck off. One dead ‘pub? Seventy-five. Final offer.”
A pause; another voice in the background. And then- “All right. I’ll take the rest of the credits to the same account. Data incoming.”
“Very good,” she says, setting her own datapad down after a few more taps to its screen. “Credits sent. And you can drop the cloak-and-dagger shit, Renzi. I know that’s you.”
“Dunno what you’re talking about.”
She grins. “You said I. Xessa always says we.”
“She’s got you there, Ren. He thinks voice masking makes him sound exotic-” a second figure pops sideways into frame as the masking drops away, Xessa’s green-scaled face a contrast against her partner’s pale pink torso- “but mostly he couldn’t be bothered to put a shirt on. So, where in the Void have you been? We’d heard you were dead.”
“Rumors greatly exaggerated, et cetera.” Shrugging, she lets the unspoken question die. “Excellent job as always. Cleaner work’s not your usual, I know, but-”
“Work’s work nowadays, and with Zakuul’s eyes everywhere business is slow. A payday’s always welcome.” Renzi grins as Xessa straightens up beside him, one arm draped over his bare shoulders. “Though we-” a smirk for emphasis, there- “had hoped you might want to render payment in person. It’s been far too long.”
(A dangerous offer, with far too many pheromones in that room for anyone’s good. She’d fallen into that trap once or twice (or, okay, maybe it was closer to half a dozen times) with those two, back in the old days when one of her many jobs was keeping the Cartel from throwing in with the Republic; the happier she kept the Hutts and their lieutenants, the happier her Intelligence masters had been, and-
Well. It had been a particularly enjoyable trap. Besides, anyone who could sit with a Falleen on one side and a Zeltron on the other and manage to keep one’s knickers on may as well go join the Jedi- that much self-denial couldn’t possibly be healthy.)
“Not this time, I’m afraid. My cargo required urgent transport.” The keypad outside her quarters chimes. Someone’s looking for her; she ought to wrap this up. “Rain check, hm?”
“We’re working in the Core for the foreseeable future. You need us again, come find us and we’ll knock ten percent off the going rate.”
“Only ten?” The door’s chiming again. She pushes back from the desk. “If you’ll excuse me, I ought to get that.”
Xessa winks. “We’d consider fifteen. A pleasure as always, my dear.”
As the holocall disconnects, Nine stands, calling out toward the door. “Just a min-”
It slides open. Theron slips through, wiggling his fingers at her in response to her arched eyebrow. “Don’t get up. I can let myself in.”
“So it would appear. You could have rung in, you know.”
“I did. Twice. When you didn’t answer I assumed you were still in science wing.”
She shrugs. “I was on a call. Lokin’s in the middle of a treatment, so there’s no point in sitting around watching gamma rays- though you’ve just reminded me I should probably change my entry code.”
That he’d memorized her passcode oughtn’t to have been a surprise. She was careful with it, always, but over the last months they’d walked back to her room together for one too many late-night ‘meetings’- of course he’d learned the sequence. She’d expect no less from him; she’d have done the same herself, if they’d ever spent any time in his quarters.
“It took me a while- it’s a good code. Not your birthdate, not a predictable sequence.”
Old habits were hard to break. “It was my identification number at the Academy. I used it a dozen times a day, so it’s easy to remember. But I’d still appreciate a knock.”
“I thought I’d surprise you.” Theron, wearing a suitably contrite expression (she doesn’t believe it for a minute, but at least he’s halfway pretending to be sorry), holds up an insulated bag. “Figured I owe you dinner after the whole Coruscant clusterfuck. Possibly like a hundred dinners. And some other stuff. But if I’m interrupting-“
He looks down at her datapad, face-up on the table with the last transmitted image still open on the screen, and then back up, frowning.
“I didn’t know,” he says carefully, “that we were going against the Republic now.”
“We aren’t. The team I contracted to mop up on Alderaan ran into-” she gestures delicately with one finger- “this guy poking around. Anyone you know?”
Theron shakes his head. “No, but his gear looks military. Do we know what he was looking for?”
“Files are there. I haven’t had a chance to read them yet, but best guess? You.”
“No way.” Setting the bag on the table and hooking one foot around the chair in front of her, he pulls it toward him, sits down abruptly and reaches out for the datapad. “Coincidence. Must be.”
The transmission’s there, unopened, in one of her dozen Holonet accounts; Theron glances up at her again and, at her nod- he may as well see it, whatever it says- taps the screen. For the next minute he sits in silence, eyes flickering from line to line as he reads, and then he pushes the little screen away and rests his elbows on the projector table, head cupped in his hands.
“Well, fuck,” he says, voice muffled.
She waits.
“You were right. I should have gone to Rhu Caenus for supplies.”
Of course she was. Pallista was far too risky, far too many people who might have known him or might have been told to watch out for him- but there’s no point in gloating. Instead, she rolls her desk chair across the floor and sits down beside him, leans against his side until he turns his head toward her with a sigh.
“In any case,” she murmurs, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck, “it’s handled. The team that killed him doesn’t know who you are or that you were there. Loop closed. We’ll just have to be even more careful moving forward.”
“I should have known he’d do this. But I thought-” Theron closes his eyes. “I thought- I mean, my own father-”
He trails off.
“Sometimes I think you’ve got it easier, not knowing,” he mutters. “Not having to worry about your parents or-”
Her fingers dig in to his skin, harder than she means them to. “Don’t be stupid. Do you really think it’s easier?”
“I only meant that-”
“I don’t even know who they are. They could be anyone at all, or dead, and I’d never know it. I might have walked through the Kaas City market and passed a sister, a brother-” at that, a spike like lightning lances straight through her head and her hands fall to her sides; she grits her teeth to keep from crying out. Oh, she should know better than to think of such things by now, oh, oh-
When she catches her breath and her eyes refocus Theron’s shifted position, sitting up straight, holding her head close against his shoulder.
“And then there’s that, of course. A small side effect,” she says dryly, unembedding her fingernails from her palms with a shudder. “But ignorance is bliss, right?”
“I’m sorry.“ He presses his mouth to her temple, his hand in her hair. “I’m sorry. That looked like it hurt.”
“It does. But one learns to live with it. Or not. After all, it was my choice.” Forcing a smile, she nudges his hand away gently with a tilt of her head, straightening up and reaching across the table for the bag. “Enough philosophy. We should eat before the food gets cold.”
“I-” He stops. “Yeah. Yeah. I remember you mentioned these before, and since I’m probably not going to be able to go Coruscant again for… well, possibly ever- um. Ghedi was due to rotate out of embedment last week anyway, so I had him make a stop on his way to the spaceport. He flash-froze them and I just heated them up in the canteen, so I’m pretty sure they’re still-”
As Theron rambles, she raises the flap and pulls out a few takeaway containers and a chilled bottle of wine; the containers are warm, lids opaque with steam, and when she opens the first of the containers and inhales the smell’s familiar.
This time her smile is genuine. “You seriously had someone bring dumplings all the way back from Coruscant?”
“You said you liked them.”
Did she? She does like them, so he’s right, but when- oh! “When I sent your implant- Theron, that was five years ago. I can’t believe you remembered that.”
“It was the last time we talked before the Zakuul war started.” As she sets the second container in front of him, he gets up to fetch glasses from the cabinet. “I remembered.”
She takes a bite. They’ve suffered a little from the freezing, but Force knows she wouldn’t tell Theron that- he’s watching her intently when he sits back down, fills her wineglass but doesn’t eat, waiting for her reaction and he looks so ridiculously hopeful that they could have been stone-cold and stuffed with rocks and she’d still have eaten every last one. “Best thing I’ve eaten in years-” still actually true, frostburn and all- “and yours are getting cold. Here.”
Holding one up to his mouth as he starts to reply, she pops it between his parted lips.
“You know,” he says around a mouthful of dumpling, “we’ve never actually been out to dinner at an actual restaurant? The mess hall doesn’t count.”
“We’ve been more than a little busy. And Taris isn’t exactly known for haute cuisine.”
“True. But next time we’re back in civilization, I’m buying you dinner.”
She grins, leaning into him to steal a forkful of noodles. “If you’re attempting to bribe your way back into my good graces with food-”
“Is it working?”
“Maybe.” A pause. “Is there cake in there?”
“Is there cake? You wound me.” With a snort, Theron digs down to the bottom of the bag. “Of course there’s cake. Their cake is legendary.”
“Then I forgive you. For now.”
***
She lets him stay that night, too.
She missed him, even in the days it took to get from Alderaan back to Odessen in their separate ships, even with the distraction of Doctor Lokin’s fragile health keeping her in the medical bay almost constantly and having to arrange the cleaner team to cover up behind them (it had been sheer luck that Xessa’d answered her holo and that she and Ren’d been near enough to handle the job- no one from the Alliance was within range, and her first two options had been too far away or too busy to pick up the work.)
She tries to tell herself it’s habit, this thing they have- he’s a craving to be satisfied like any other but somehow still novel even after months together, her want and her affection for him enough to forgive him his recklessness, enough that she hasn’t so much as looked at anyone else in that time which is practically a record-
But when he stirs in his sleep in response to her nightmares, arm tightening around her to pull her nearer, murmuring her name against the nape of her neck, she curls into the warmth of his body and whispers back.
Some habits are worth keeping.
***
The next morning his ringing comm wakes them both a full hour before sunrise and she groans and covers her head with a pillow while he checks who’s calling.
Hang on, he signs, lifting the pillow for a moment. Need to take this.
She nods and pulls the blanket up, just in case- one wrong angle and his caller’s likely to get an eyeful- as he slides quickly into trousers and undershirt and ducks down the stairs to her desk.
“Do you know,” Theron says by way of opening, “what time it is?”
“You said call with the plans.” The answering voice is unfamiliar: female, heavily accented- native language almost certainly Huttese. Hm. She peeks out from beneath the pillow as the voice continues. “Got plans. So I’m calling.”
“And I appreciate it, I do-” he yawns- “but it could have waited an hour. Or five.”
She can’t see a thing from this angle. Ducking beneath the covers until she’s poking her head out at the foot of the bed (the sheets are a mess anyway, half-stripped, kicked off during the worst of her dreams), she tries again. Now she can see Theron, half-perched on her desk chair, and on the holo in front of him a yellow-skinned Twi’lek, a faded Black Sun tattoo on one bare shoulder, stands with her arms folded across her chest and a very smug expression on her face.
“Oops.”
Theron sighs. “I told you I was sorry those SIS guys came after you.”
“Not came after, found. Broke teeth,” the woman scowls. “Again. And stole my gun.”
“I’m paying you for the plans. You should be able to buy, like, ten guns.”
“Liked that one.”
He settles down into the chair with a thump. “Seriously, Teff’ith. I really am sorry.”
“Happens. They said I’m… um. ‘Known associate?’” She- Teff’ith, not a name Nine recognizes- sounds uncertain, mouth moving to make the shapes of an unfamiliar word. Her Basic’s awful. Not a former work colleague of Theron’s, she’d bet, though she’s got more than her fair share of old contacts with likely similar histories. “Should have given stupid medal back.”
Theron looks sidelong in her direction with a shrug and an I’ll tell you later signed behind his back. “But you got the plans, you said?”
“Yup. Not easy.” The Twi’lek holds up a data chip. “Lots of slicing. But got ‘em.”
“Your account’s still the same?” Theron glances down to his wrist for a moment, but his commpad’s still on the table beside the bed. “Hang on, I need to get my-”
Wrapped up in the blanket, Nine sits up and stretches across until she can reach it; catching his eye again, she mimes tossing it down to him and he nods, reaches up to pluck it out of the air as she lobs it underhanded in his direction. As it crosses the field of the holo’s lens Teff’ith blinks and takes a step backward, eyes darting from side to side suspiciously.
"Who’s there?” Her tone’s even brusquer than before. “Someone else spying, too?”
Letting his breath out with a huff, Theron shakes his head. “No one’s spying on you. You just happened to catch me in the middle of a meeting-” (the age-old excuse, of course, though he keeps a straight face when he says it)- “and the Commander’s here.”
“Let me talk to her.”
Clothing would probably be useful right about now. Last night’s clothes are all somewhere down in the sitting area, though, and the closet’s on the far side of the camera field; she looks around the room for ideas beyond the bedsheet but none spring immediately to mind.
“If it’s about the credits, Teff, I’m sending them right now.” Commpad slipped onto his wrist and his attention on its screen, he taps out a few dozen keystrokes before he returns his eyes to the holo. “You don’t need to-”
If looks could kill, Theron’d be a smoking heap on the floor by now. “You made me get arrested. By your mom."
“You never actually got-”
“It’s fine, Theron.” Both their heads snap in her direction but not the camera yet, thankfully, as she pulls the sheet tight around her chest and runs her other hand through her bed-mussed hair. Draping the blanket over her shoulders- it could pass as a shawl at this angle, right?- she gestures toward the holo. “I assume she’s a friend of yours?”
“That’s one way of putting it. I arrested her, she saved my life- the usual. I’ve been trying to keep her out of trouble ever since.”
Teff’ith snorts. “Saved you twice. You’re welcome.”
“It’s true,” he says, and turns the camera toward her at her nod. “Teff’ith, this is the Alliance Commander. Commander, Teff’ith. Formerly of Coruscant, currently residing on Nar Shaddaa. She managed to get us a copy of the unredacted Ternion building tenant list and schematics.”
She opens her mouth to respond, but before she can get a word out the Twi’lek looks her up and down, at her hair and her bare face and her blanket-wrapped body, and angles her head back toward Theron.
“Never thought you’d leave. Didn’t understand why you did,” Teff’ith grins. “Now I get it. She’s prettier than the wanted holos.”
“I’ll take that,” she says as Theron’s ears go scarlet, “as a compliment.”
***
“I’m sorry.” Half an hour later, even in the lift on the way up to the War Room, he’s still apologizing. “She can be… abrupt. But she’s a good kid.”
“She’s entertaining, I’ll give her that, and I’ll comp you back the credits from the discretionary fund. But she’s hardly a kid.” She scans over the schematics as they hit the top floor- they’re good. More than enough detail. They’ll just need to find their in, now. “She’s how old- late twenties?”
(Somehow they’ve all gotten old while they weren’t paying attention.)
“Something like that, yeah. I’m not sure she even knows. But we’ve known each other a long time. She was there when Ngani- when Master Zho-”
The hallway’s crowded when they step into it, bustling with soldiers and crew heading to their morning duties, and everyone’s looking at them. “Tell me later?”
Theron nods, voice lowered. “It’s a long story. Tonight?”
“Tonight.”
They’ve still got half a slice of cake to finish, after all, and she’s still got the extra toothbrush.
***
With the tenant list projected on one screen and a blueprint on the other, she and Lana and Theron sit staring at the list, crossing out names one by one.
“It seems to be mostly corporate,” Lana says, “as expected. Approaching any of the Republic-owned organizations is out of the question, I assume, so that rules out these five.”
“And these.” Theron crosses out two more. “Off the record, an SIS front and a weapon dev lab for SpecOps.”
She wrinkles her nose. They’re rapidly running out of options. “Wish I’d known that ten years ago. And these four are Cartel, and much as the Hutts want the blockade gone, I doubt they’ll approve of our methods.”
“The twenty-ninth floor looks to be vacant.”
“Right underneath the shield generator? Ten credits says it’s stuffed full of skytroopers.” Stretching, Theron reaches across the table for his caf cup. “What about Omnicorp? Twentieth floor?”
She puts a line through that one, too. “Two words: killer robots.”
“Never mind.” Theron squints, looking harder at the list. “And everything else is Imperial- wait. What about this one?” He traces a circle with one finger around the listing on the mezzanine level. “Umbrella Corporation. That’s got to be a joke.”
“Reminds me of an old friend, actually. Sia’hla. She used to talk about wanting to own a dance club.” Taking a sip of her own caf, she leans her elbows on the table as Lana, beside her, keeps scanning through company dossiers. “I told her she’d be better off running it like an umbrella company- hire girls on as independent contractors, keep the Hutts’ slimy mitts out of the whole business. She was still learning Basic at the time, though, and the phrase doesn’t quite translate into Huttese. She thought I meant she should call it-”
She stops. That’d be too much of a coincidence, surely.
“It is a cantina.” Lana raises one hand, sliding a dossier page on top of the projected list. “An odd choice in an industrial district, don’t you think?”
Theron settles into a chair, focused on the page. “Pretty genius, actually. Bunch of white-collar types working long hours and with money to burn- now they don’t even have to leave the building to drink and chase tail. Whoever owns it must rake in credits hand over fist.”
“Speaking from experience?” She grins as Theron slides down until he can reach her, extending one leg to kick at her ankle.
“Nah. That was Balkar’s thing. I was more the ‘you’ve been here for thirty hours, Shan, now go the fuck home before I have you evicted from your office’ type.”
Lana smirks. “I’d never have guessed.”
“Shut it, Beniko.” Theron flicks his tip of his stylus at her as she leans neatly out of the way, redirecting it back around with a wave of her hand; it hovers over his caf cup for a moment, then drops into the liquid with a splash. “I was drinking that.”
Ignoring him completely except for a soft, amused-sounding hum (Theron, meanwhile, fishes the little rubber piece out when he thinks neither of them is looking), Lana magnifies the line until they don’t have to squint to read it. No individual names or contact numbers, of course; it wasn’t going to be that easy. “It looks to be a clean tenancy as well- no proxy listed. No connection to the cartels at all, so far as I can see. It may be our best chance of getting into the building.”
“I’d prefer not to gatecrash.” She shifts her attention back to the blueprints, to the mezzanine level. “Assuming Ternion’s constructed like most Nar Shaddaa towers, our access to the power conduit will be somewhere back here-” one circle on the map, marking the location- “ well out of the public areas. Not impossible by any means, but we’ll be dodging repair ‘bots all the way up the conduit already. I’d rather not have to worry about security wandering in while I’m dangling a dozen floors up.”
“So, what? We ask nicely and hope whoever runs the place doesn’t mind us blowing the roof off the building?” Theron rubs his forehead.
“One never knows. We might get lucky. But no,” she says. “We just need to get access to the staff areas.” Pulling her datapad out of her jacket, she opens a new search window- the place must have a Holonet site, though whether it’ll give her the info the needs is another-
A-ha. Jackpot.
She flips the screen around, grinning.
"Hiring performers for immediate start.” Lana reads aloud as she points to the words. “Experience preferred. For interview, contact- Nine. No. Absolutely not. You’re the Commander of the entire Alliance. It’d be completely inappropriate for-”
“Shhhh.” She leans forward, lifting her finger off the screen and holding it against Lana’s mouth. “It’s a plan, which is more than we had five minutes ago. Unless you have a better idea.”
“I’m sure I could think of- there must be some other-” Lana closes her eyes, lips moving, silently counting to five. “Theron, tell me you don’t agree with this.”
He considers. “That depends. Do I get to watch?”
“I’ll need a handler.”
“I’m in. Although I probably should mention that I don’t, technically speaking, have clearance to land on Nar Shaddaa right now."
Lana sighs.
***
The last layer of concealer applied to her cheek, she sets it with powder and brushes her hair until it’s sleek and shining. A swipe of lipstick, a touch of rouge, a quick adjustment of her shirt- good enough. She hasn’t got the right supplies here to manage anything with the scar on her stomach, a problem she hadn’t considered initially; if this club wants the usual costume, it’ll be hard to hide even with makeup and airbrush.
(Most clubs don’t like girls with scars. Or tattoos. Spoils the aesthetic.)
Oh, well. One step at a time.
Emerging from the refresher back into her quarters, she grins at Lana and slips into the voice she’ll use for the call. “War wounds patched. How do I look?”
Cross-legged on the couch, Lana winces. “Force, that accent. You’ll shatter glass if you’re not careful.”
“When’s the last time you- hold on.” She clears her throat. “I know, it’s appalling. Everyone on Nar Shaddaa talks like they’ve gargled razor blades and snorted helium. But I’ve always used this cover identity for this sort of thing there, and in any case when’s the last time you saw a cantina dancer who sounded Imperial?”
“Korriban, actually. Once again, for the record, this is a terrible idea.”
“Objection noted. Theron, is the holo ready?”
He nods, done tinkering with it, gesturing toward the table as he crosses the room to settle down on the couch next to Lana. “Masked and relayed. Ready when you are.”
“All right.” Clearing her throat once again, she inhales, adjusting her posture and her voice. “Here we go.”
She stands before the camera, hands clasped, shoulders back, as the call goes through and a pretty Mirialan, throat bare in a low-cut dress, smiles politely from the other end of the connection and greets her in accented Basic. No cartel ties, no collared employees- by Hutt Space standards this place is getting weirder by the minute. “Thank you for calling Umbrella Corporation, voted Best in Sector two years in a row by the Nar Shaddaa Star. My name is Cira. How may I direct your call?”
(She’s had this conversation half a hundred times.
Breathe, girl. Just like driving a speeder.)
“Your ‘net site says you’re hiring dancers. I’m interested in auditioning, if the position’s still open.”
Cira nods, giving her an appraising look, then relaxes slightly. So far, so good. “We’re currently hiring for performers-” the correction’s subtle but emphatic; no dive bar, this. Interesting. “Any previous experience?”
“Of course.” She ticks them off, one by one, on her fingers. “Here at home I’ve been at Haven’s Blaze, Club Vertica and the Slippery Slope. I did a stint at the Dealer’s Den on Coruscant a few years ago, too.”
Across the room, Lana raises an eyebrow and Theron grins.
“An impressive résumé. If you’ll excuse me a moment, I just need to confirm with the owner but I expect she’ll want to have you in for a stage trial. What’s your name? ”
“Xari.”
All at once the polished smile drops from the girl’s face. “Yeah, right. Try again.”
If someone picked up that cover identity while she was in carbonite- no. Not possible. So what’s-
“I’m sorry,” she says, keeping her tone even, her body relaxed even as she starts planning for half a dozen contingencies. “That’s the only name I’ve got. Is there a problem?”
“She’s been gone a long time, so I never met Xari, but I’ve seen the holos. Everyone here has."
Okay, now this really is getting weird. She used the name for years, sure, in more than a few undercover ops- she never got caught out as Xari and after a little while she had enough reputation to open doors, which made the work easier. But it’s been six or seven years since she’s played the part and the only performance holos she knows of (a mistake, letting those get loose on the ‘net, but between wig and cosmetics and costume she’d barely know herself in them, let alone be recognized now) must be ten years old.
Why would she still be so well known there?
(There are holos? Theron mouths.
Lana, squinting, pulls out her datapad- then elbows Theron sharply, pointing down at the screen.)
"That bold a lie might pass down in the sublevels,” Cira continues, eyes darkening, “but you should do your research properly next time. You must know who owns this place. Did you really think you’d fool Sia’hla, of all people?”
She blinks.
Maybe Koth’s right after all. Maybe this whole thing really is destiny.
“Go and get her, then. Ask her-” she sighs, dropping the accent. This isn’t going to work, not the way she meant it to. But this might be even better. “Ask her if she remembers what happened with Belan.”
The girl scowls, pushing back from the desk. “Is that supposed to mean something?”
“It will to her.”
As she disappears from view, Nine rolls her shoulders and cracks her knuckles and Theron and Lana both stare at her, their faces twin masks of worry. Disconnect? Theron signs.
She shakes her head. Not yet.
After a minute she can hear footsteps, two sets, approaching on the other end of the call. “I should have just hung up on her-” Cira’s voice, out of frame, terse and snappish in Huttese- “but she swears she’s-”
“I’ll deal with it, Cee. Leave us.” The figure that stands behind the desk now isn’t the Mirialan girl; a slender Twi’lek woman in a high-necked black dress stares flatly into the holocam, eyes narrowed as she switches to Basic. “Look, schutta, I don’t know who you think you are or where you heard that man’s name, but-”
She stops, blinks, looks at her face again.
“It’s you. It’s… Kaliyo told me you died. Five years ago.”
(She oughtn’t have covered up her scar. It had been there the last time they’d seen each other, after Hunter and that last damned lucky shot- they’d joked about it, even. So much for my stage career.)
“I keep hearing that this week. But it’s me. I swear.”
"Prove it.” Lekku winding anxiously around each other at their tips- the markings are new, elaborate tattooed bands in a pattern Nine doesn’t know the meaning of- she presses her lips together tightly. “Tell me something only you would know.”
Theron and Lana both look entirely confused now, straight-backed in their seats, hair-trigger tense in a way that echoes in her own nerves: an op poised on a razor’s edge, ready to turn good or bad in the span of a single moment. She nods, as much to them as to the holocam.
“You shot him. You shot him because I made him stop. Do you remember?”
One hand flies up to her throat, just for a second, and the projection shimmers as Sia’hla leans forward hard against the desk. "I- I remember. Where the fuck have you been?”
“That’s a story better told in person. But I need to ask you a favor.”
***
Up next: Dress Rehearsal, in which we meet Sia’hla (and “Xari”) properly, and Nine plans (much to Lana’s chagrin) for a show with quite an explosive encore…
Hey, everyone. Contrary to plans, I got exactly zero writing done over my holiday vacation (the perils of visiting family) and I’ve been working 50-hour weeks ever since. But unless I post otherwise here, you may always assume that a new chapter is coming- it’s just a matter of when I can steal time to write it!

Content and Content Marketing Are Not the Same. Here’s How to Frame the Top 11 Content Formats.

August 20, 2020 8 min read
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.
On the internet, content is anything that expresses thoughts, information or experiences through written, visual, or audio form.
This article is content. The 95 million photos uploaded to Instagram today are content. The 500 hours’ worth of videos uploaded to YouTube in the last 60 seconds are all content.
The internet is built with content and always has been. It also means everyone has content, and everyone creates it all the time.
That creates some confusion when it comes to content versus content marketing. A lot of content is intended to market a brand … but that doesn’t mean the brand does content marketing agency.
Here’s why.
What does content marketing really look like?
Content marketing agency is a strategic approach to marketing agency that emphasizes the creation and delivery of valuable content to attract, retain and convert a clearly defined audience.
In other words, it’s using content strategically to provide solutions to problems that either your business or your readers have. Great examples abound:
The fitness brand that creates a community and encourages its subscribers to share knowledge.
The home décor retailer that distributes a monthly magazine on minimalism and good housekeeping practices.
The SaaS platform that uses gamification to encourage users to discover and get to know its features.
The travel company that uses a thrilling interactive website to hint at the experiences it offers.
The health supplement site that publishes a vegan recipe blog.
Do you see a difference? All of these efforts position you as an authority in your industry, demonstrate your expertise in your topic over the long run and cultivate trust in your audience by putting their needs and interests first.
How to tell if you’re doing it right
You’re doing content marketing agency (and not just content creation or digital marketing agency) if your content:
Puts your audience first. Be customer-focused, not company-focused. You’re delivering helpful, valuable content and letting the customer decide when they trust you enough to buy from you.
Links back to a business goal or solution to a problem. You’ve laid out how your content works together to further your business goals.
Rarely, if ever, actively promotes your brand outright. CTAs are great, but you aren’t trying to push your readers to your solutions.
Attracts readers to your turf. You’re building authority by providing readers with a destination to which they can keep returning.
Gets published consistently and continuously. You’re building trust by proving you’re an expert in the matter over time rather than publishing one-offs.
Uses metrics to measure and optimize. You can identify what’s performing well, and where you need to improve based on data.
Related: How Do You Improve Email Marketing? Start by Improving Your List.
To master content marketing, you must master these 11 content types.
High-performing content is central to your content marketing agency, but the way you craft it can make or break your strategy. It’s not enough to simply create eBooks, blogs and catchy social media that provide helpful information … that’s still biased toward your brand.
People are catching on to even that now.
Yet, with all the content creation that you will still do, it can be easy to lose your focus. Here’s an overview of how to use the eleven main types of content in content marketing agency:
Blogs. Make sure they’re optimized for SEO Company because they’re one of the best ways to boost your page ranks. Include a CTA and consider opening up comments for further engagement.
Case studies. Illustrate your expertise by taking your readers on a journey that showcases solutions to their pain points.
eBooks. They make great lead magnets, especially when you craft a magnetizing title and supply information people can’t find elsewhere.
Emails. Write direct, powerful, concise copy that contains information that can change your readers’ lives. They’re a direct line to your audience and can build long-lasting relationships when done well.
Headlines. Powerful, compelling headlines (that don’t sound spammy!) let your readers know exactly what they’re getting. They’re also a great way to convey brand with language.
Meta titles and descriptions. Put yourself in your readers’ shoes and let them know you have the answers they’re searching for right now.
Product descriptions. Optimize with keywords and describe products in terms of benefits rather than features.
Social media posts. Create an experience that puts them at the center and encourages engagement. This helps your audience connect with your brand emotionally and can help you find their pain points.
Video scripts. Tell your brand’s story engagingly. You can also include the script text on the page to make your content more accessible, and boost SEO Company.
Web content. Make important or helpful information prominent, include a clear CTA, and use high-quality images to craft a powerful message.
White papers. Explore relevant topics in-depth and give your target audience ideas that they can apply to their own problems or daily life.

Content making content marketing work: an example
By now, I hope I’ve demonstrated how content creation is intrinsic to content marketing agency. However, just because you’re creating content, it doesn’t mean you’re doing content marketing agency.
I want to drive things home with an example.
Let’s say that we’re growing an athletic clothing brand and looking for ways to attract more customers to our e-commerce site. We’ve decided to turn to content marketing agency for help. It might look like this:
1. You want to increase your brand’s presence on Google and social media, but you don’t want to constantly annoy your readers with ads. How else can you get your brand in front of your readers?
You decide that the best way forward is to start a blog full of topics that interest your readers. A few things that come to mind include clean eating, exercising at home, and personal empowerment. You can also talk about clothes, of course, but your models can all wear your brand, which eliminates the need for more direct advertising.
2. You start your blog, set up your social media and let your following know about it.
Engagement metrics indicate that readers are most excited about exercising at home. Looking through their comments, you notice that things like staying focused, finding the right space, and keeping a schedule are all major pain points that they have.
3. You respond by creating an online guide to exercising at home.
You use a combination of eBooks chock-full of challenges that are available as lead magnets, and video tutorials for exercises hosted on your site. To demonstrate how popular your guides are, you create a way for users to record their progress and encourage each other.
4. To maintain engagement, you start up an email newsletter with the latest challenges, shoutouts for people who have achieved their goals and occasionally a promo here or there.
Throughout this, you continue to grow your online community, adding more content to your blog that addresses questions or pain points. You even start a hashtag that your followers can use to highlight their fitness efforts so that they can spread the word about you.
5. At some point, you realize that you can enrich your readers’ experience with case studies and white papers.
You begin to include “white papers” about health and fitness that are relevant to your target audience. You also start to create case studies of “success stories” from your community.
6. As fitness centers start to notice what you’re doing, you start getting offers for sponsored classes and requests to sell your brand in their shops.
Your content marketing agency is now extending your brand’s reach into the offline world. You’ll continue all of the efforts above, as the results are feeding further content production.
Can you spot all eleven content types above? Look carefully. They’re here.
(Bonus: Do you know what brand I just described? Spoiler: This is Athleta’s content marketing agency strategy. Check it out at https://events.athleta.com/)
Now you know the difference between content and content marketing in 2020.
The main difference between content versus content marketing agency? Content marketing agency involves a lot more than just content creation. In fact, the emphasis isn’t content creation at all, but crafting an experience that improves the lives of your readers. If you’re putting your readers first, addressing pain points and producing exceptional quality content consistently, then you’ll grow your brand while you cultivate authority and trust. That’s content marketing agency.
Hopefully, I’ve left you with an idea or two about your content marketing agency strategy. Now, go forth and convert that target audience into passionate fans.
