[Rain Tree Crow] [Rain Tree Crow] [CD] [1991] 7 years after the separation of the band "Japan" all four musicians found together again under the name "Rain Tree Crow". The result is a masterpiece of music history that can hardly be put into words. Mick Karn, Richard Barbierie, Steve Jansen and David Sylvian shine on their instruments and harmonize so well that it almost hurts. . The individual tracks also hurt, because they are achingly beautiful. Stylistically the music moves away a bit from "Japan" and instead goes more in the direction of David Sylvian's early solo works. Partly jazzy, partly very melancholic, partly gloomy ambient sounds, always exciting and full of surprises and yet comfortably familiar. An unusual masterful mixture of jazz, progrock, artpop and ambient. Those who loved "Japan" sparingly and appreciate the solo works of the individual band members will love this album beyond all measure.
