AMG S63 Cabrio 4MATIC+ "The Performance Yacht".
Back in the days the versatile AMG 4.0L biturbo V8 engine in the S63 Cabrio 4MATIC+ takes peak performance to a new level at 450kW (612hp). Maximum torque attains a new best value of 900Nm.
It is available over a broad engine speed range of 2750 to 4500rpm and so provides a feeling of effortless superiority in every accelerator pedal position. A sprint from zero to 100 km/h is absolved in 3.5 seconds, and this dynamic acceleration only ends at the governed top speed of 250km/h (with AMG Driver's package: 300km/h).
The advanced AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine utilises well-proven twin turbocharging, with the two chargers not located outside on the cylinder banks, but rather between them in the V of the cylinders.
The advantages of the "hot inner V" are a compact engine design, an immediate response from the twin-scroll turbochargers and low exhaust gas emissions thanks to optimum air flow for the close-coupled catalytic converters.
Two twin-scroll turbochargers are deployed for the first time to boost performance and improve responsiveness further. The housing is divided into two parallel flow passages. Combined with two separate exhaust ducts in the exhaust manifold, this makes it possible to control the exhaust gases on the turbine wheel separately.
The exhaust gas from the first and fourth cylinders of the cylinder bank is fed into one duct and exhaust gas from the second and third cylinders to the other duct. The aim is to prevent the individual cylinders from having mutually adverse effects on the gas cycle.

Seven finally takes her out on a drive.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
“Are you ready?” She gasped slightly, her face immediately lifting to look at him in excitement. He looked a little tired from working so hard, his golden eyes dull and his hair disheveled. She hoped that getting out of the house would help him cheer up.
“You’re done?” she asked. She nearly fell off the couch as she moved to stand, watching him chuckle at her.
“Yeah, I just finished. Let’s go!” he said enthusiastically. He held out his hand for her to take it, but then he eyed it, pulling away to wave her forward with it instead.
She decided not to ask, her thoughts elsewhere while she followed close behind him as they moved through the house towards his garage. His hoodie had come off since she’d seen him last, only a black tank top remaining. She quickly decided that it would be better for her heart if she focused on her surroundings instead of the fact that his biceps were on display.
He pushed open the garage door, bowing dramatically for her to enter first. She stepped forward with an eager grin, the only light coming from the room behind her. He shut the door as he joined her, throwing her into pitch darkness.
“Oh yeah, these are nice cars,” she teased, nodding her head even though he couldn’t see. He let out a snicker before she heard the flick of a switch.
Suddenly, the whole room was illuminated, her eyes narrowing before they adjusted. When they did, she was met with the sight of four stunning sports cars, all of which she’d heard and seen so much about. The bright fluorescent lights reflected off the shiny paint jobs and made them all the more beautiful.
“Whoa,” she breathed, taking a few curious steps forward to get closer.
“Allow me to formally introduce you to my babies,” Seven spoke, stepping to her side with a hop. She glanced at him, seeing that the usual sparkle in his eyes was shining, and that was a big part of the reason she’d asked for a ride in one of his cars.
Her eyes kept gravitating towards one car in particular. It was the one she’d heard him talk the most about, and it really was a sight to behold. She’d looked up what the model was a few times just out of curiosity, but maybe part of her wanted to be able to impress him if she needed to.
“Which one will we be taking for a spin tonight, m’lady?” he asked, gesturing for her to choose. Her mouth fell open, her heart palpitating in her chest.
“You’re letting me choose?” she asked in disbelief, thinking that he would have been the one to make all the decisions. But he grinned, nodding enthusiastically.
“It was your idea, so you can choose!” he smiled, putting his hands in his pockets as he watched her wiggle a little from excitement.
“Can we take the Herrari California?” she asked after a moment of thought. His eyes widened, and he tilted his head at her.
“Someone’s done their research,” he said, his smile growing. He began walking towards the car, but then he stopped and leaned close to her.
“Did you know that she’s my favorite?” he whispered like it was a secret. She laughed, covering her mouth and watching him.
“Maybe,” she whispered back, unable to help the butterflies that stirred in her stomach when he laughed in response.
They both walked over to the car quickly, her eyes widening as she grew closer. She didn’t know much about the car other than its name and that it was expensive, but it was a very nice shade of red.
“Ahh it’s so pretty!” she sighed, not daring to touch it. He put his hands behind his head, sighing in that cocky way that he did and smirking at her.
“Thanks, I picked the color myself,” he bragged, making her snicker a little. He eyed her, raising his eyebrows like he wasn’t joking.
“Aren’t they all red?” she laughed, seeing him lean on his knees and gape at her.
“And here I was thinking you’d become an expert just for me!” he exclaimed, covering his face and pretending to sob. She rolled her eyes, smiling and putting her hands on her hips.
“I think you’d get jealous if I knew everything about your baby,” she reasoned, seeing him peek through his fingers at her. After a few seconds, he ran both hands through his hair, sighing like nothing had happened.
“You’re right!” he grinned, turning to walk over to the wall behind the car. He opened the box there, pulling out what she guessed were the car keys.
“Just so you know,” he said, looking over his shoulder as he closed the box. “Not every Herrari is red. This is actually shade number FF2800,” he said, making her giggle under her breath. Of course he’d memorized the exact color number.
“Well, shade number FF2800 looks absolutely gorgeous. Can we get in now?” she laughed, seeing his eyes crinkle with his grin.
“Please,” he said, unlocking both doors with the click of a button. She pulled the handle, the smell of leather immediately filling her senses. She slipped into the car, admiring the all-black, spotless interior before glancing over at him.
“Think the inside is pretty too?” he asked, placing one hand on the wheel. She nodded, smirking a little.
“Just like you,” she teased, reaching over to poke his cheek before he snickered.
“My hair isn’t quite the right shade for me to pass as a Herrari though,” he replied, adjusting his seat a little and checking his mirrors. She could have sworn she saw a slight blush move into his cheeks, but he turned to look at her again, pulling her attention away.
“Did your research show you this little detail?” he asked, his eyes shining excitedly. Her jaw dropped as he pushed a button, the top of the car lifting from above them. Maybe she’d seen the word convertible when she’d searched the internet, but it was a pleasant surprise either way. She let out a giddy breath as she watched the car work its magic, knowing that his eyes were watching her carefully.
“We should go before we miss the sunset,” he said, placing the keys in the ignition. He winked at her once before he started the car up, making her heart race as the engine purred to life.
He carefully maneuvered the car out of the garage, navigating the dirt road that led away from his secluded house at a snail’s pace.
“Seven…” she spoke, glancing around.
“Hmm?” he hummed, two hands tight on the wheel. She stared at him incredulously.
“Are you...gonna go?” she asked, meeting his wide-blown eyes when he looked at her.
“If I scratch even an atom of paint off this car, I will personally send myself to hell,” he spoke intensely, an uncontrollable giggle bubbling up from her throat. He looked glanced between her and the road a few times before letting his own laugh out.
“I’m serious!” he told her, making her shake her head.
“There’s nothing even around here!” she disputed, watching him lean back a little.
“That’s how I like it,” he said, making her roll her eyes. She took a second to put on her seatbelt, watching him out of the corner of her eye. She’d heard someone mention before that his muscles were very visible when he drove, but she had no idea that it would be so distracting.
Seven caught her looking, a smirk slipping onto his lips before she spoke up out of embarrassment.
“Can’t this car do like zero to sixty in 3 seconds or something?” she said quickly, glancing away to hide the heat growing in her face. Luckily, since the top was down, there was a cool breeze blowing lightly across her cheeks to cool her off.
“Maybe,” he said, dragging the last vowel out. She shot a look towards him, propping her elbow up on the car door.
“For all the bragging you do, I’m not seeing a whole lot of magic happening,” she teased, hearing him blow a raspberry at her. She turned back to him, seeing him glaring at the road ahead.
“Patience, patience,” he sang out. She watched him, thinking for a second that she was annoying him after a long day of work. But when he met her gaze, the warm smile and glow in his eyes proved her wrong.
After a few more minutes of careful driving, they made it out onto a paved road, and her heart pumped excitedly. She sat up a little, her smile uncontrollable. If the car already sounded amazing when they were going so slow, she couldn’t wait for what it sounded like at higher speeds.
“There’s a long stretch of freeway nearby if you can wait that long,” he chuckled, his posture relaxing slightly. “You’re so cute,” he nearly whispered, but she caught it. Her already-pounding heart leapt into her throat, her eyes glued to him as the wind tousled his hair.
“What?” she asked, hoping she hadn’t misheard him. He paled, keeping his eyes on the road.
“N-nothing,” he said, making the knot in her stomach tighten. It was adorably typical that he denied little comments he made under his breath like that. She wondered if he actually meant them.
She leaned back in her seat, biting her lip to suppress her growing smile.
Soon enough, they pulled onto the ramp that led to the freeway, her eyes moving to him excitedly.
“Got your seatbelt on?” he asked, absentmindedly testing his own seatbelt.
“Of course,” she chuckled, glancing around to see that there were almost no cars on the road with them. “Why--” She couldn’t finish her question, the wind being knocked from her as he slammed on the accelerator. The car was pushed forward with a speed she’d never felt before, her stomach flipping. A loud squeal rang out as the tires spun against the pavement, and then the loud roar of the engine followed. The once gentle breeze became a fierce, cold wind that brought tears to her eyes and pinched at her cheeks.
She couldn’t help the elated scream that came from her throat, hearing his delighted laughter when her voice gave out. Her eyes bugged when she moved them to look at their current speed, her laughter getting lost among his and the wind as the road blurred in front of her.
Seven put on the brakes after another few moments, getting them down to a comfortable (and legal) speed. She was still laughing when pulled over, her breaths shallow and shaky.
“How was that?” he asked. She was able to hear the grin in his voice before she looked over at him. When she turned to see, the setting sunlight hit him in just the right way, making her stomach flip all over again. He was smiling so warmly, looking so carefree and happy, and that was all she could ever want for him.
Leaning over, she cupped his face with one hand, pressing a breathless kiss to his cheek. When she pulled back, he was bright red, his eyes locked on her and as wide as ever. She could only smile at him, her own cheeks flushing pink. But she didn’t care.
She flopped back in her seat, breathing out and feeling lightheaded. But she turned her smile to him once more, meeting his gaze boldly.
“Again?”

First Look: The McLaren 620R - A Street-Legal GT4 Race Car
McLaren has announced the 620R, the first car in its class to offer true motorsport credentials in a fully road-legal package. The limited-edition coupé – just 350 will be built – evolves the competition specification of the McLaren 570S GT4 to deliver a race-car experience on either track or road.
McLaren has enjoyed significant GT race success with Customer Racing teams and in recent seasons the 570S GT4 has been instrumental in adding to that record of success. Since the customer debut in 2017, the car has become the most successful GT race car built by McLaren, achieving more race wins and podiums than any other to date; in 2019, the 570S GT4 has competed in championships on four continents. Now, as the ultimate track-focused, track-ready but roadgoing McLaren Sports Series model, the McLaren 620R – a car destined to be both rare and collectible, thanks to its strictly limited production run – celebrates the achievements of the 570S GT4.
The McLaren 620R is a unique proposition, delivering a pure motorsport experience in a road car with authenticity: it looks like a race car, handles like a race car, performs like a race car and feels like a race car. The result overall is a seamless transition from race to road – and vice versa. Exclusive and extreme in equal measure, the McLaren 620R retains the DNA of a fully homologated track car yet is free from the restrictions that race regulations apply.
A high level of commonality with a 570S GT4 race car has been integral to the development of the 620R from very outset. They have the same, single-piece carbon fiber Monocell II chassis providing the foundations for the strength and light weight of the car, with a targeted lightest dry weight of 1,282kg. This carbon fiber core – a McLaren signature that in different guises features in every car in the company’s range – also underpins the dynamic precision and composure for which McLarens are renowned. These characteristics have been enhanced in the 620R by the inclusion of the GT4’s adjustable aerodynamic elements, race-derived suspension components and powertrain recalibration to increase power and performance.
The 620R has the same M838TE 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine used in the GT4 car, but with a significant difference in power output; freedom from racing regulations has allowed the engine ECU and turbocharger management to be reconfigured to achieve 620PS (610bhp), making this the most powerful Sports Series car yet. The engine also develops torque of 620Nm (457lb ft) and even with lap times more important than sheer top speed, the combined outputs helps to deliver benchmark performance figures of 0-100km/h (62mph) in 2.9 seconds and 0-200km/h (124mph) in 8.1 seconds. Maximum speed is 322km/h (200mph).
The use of stiffer powertrain mounts reduces drivetrain forces under acceleration, minimizing the effect of inertia under high load, while the 7-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) delivers super-fast shift times, further aided in Track model by McLaren’s Inertia Push technology, which converts built-up flywheel energy into a momentary burst of torque on upshift. For added drama on the road the driver can select Sport mode and hear the upshift ‘crack’ created by a split-second cut of the ignition spark during a gearshift.
Fitment of the GT4’s two-way manually adjustable coilover motorsport dampers, which feature 32 clicks of adjustment per corner to allow a driver to tailor compression and rebound rates to suit their driving style and track conditions, adds to the 620R’s motorsport credentials. The dampers also help to bring weight down overall, being more than 6kg lighter than the regular Sports Series units.
The suspension which features lightweight aluminium wishbones and uprights and stiffer anti-roll bars and springs than fitted on a regular Sports Series model, is further enhanced by swapping rubber top mounts for solid stainless steel alternatives to provide noticeable improvements in steering control and feedback, above and beyond the very high standards enjoyed in all McLaren cars.
Stopping power comes from McLaren’s latest lightweight braking system, which in the track-focused set-up on the new 620R comprises carbon ceramic discs (390mm front, 380mm rear) and forged aluminium brake calipers all round, with improved pedal response, modularity and resistance to fade even after repeated hard-driven circuit laps.
The braking performance is unsurprisingly also extremely impressive on the road, where the 620R runs as standard with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tyres, but drivers who swap to the optional, full-slick motorsport tyres when they arrive on circuit will experience a whole new level of braking. Specially developed for McLaren by Pirelli’s Motorsport team, the slick tyres are optimised to complement the motorsport brakes and race-derived suspension of the 620R. They unlock a contact patch 8% larger than that of the road tyre, increasing lateral G-forces and enabling quicker lap times.
This is the first time that a road-legal car with 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels has been engineered to be able to run on slick tires without the need for additional mechanical adjustment. This means that if weather conditions allow, owners can on arrival at a circuit either fit a second set of wheels or change tires and go straight out on track without further delay.
High levels of mechanical grip are an essential part of the 620R’s track parentage, but it is the car’s aerodynamic performance that elevates it to the status of a road-legal GT4 racer. The adjustable carbon fiber rear wing is the same component fitted to the 570S GT4. Raised 32cm (12.5in) into the cleaner airflow above the vehicle to increase downforce while minimizing drag, the wing is road legal thanks to its newly incorporated third brake light. Customers will receive their cars with the wing set to the least aggressive of its three available angles, optimizing front/rear balance for road driving. The more aggressive angles – which can be set by a McLaren retailer – increase rear downforce still further, contributing to a maximum of 185kg (408lbs) and enabling even quicker circuit-running.
While the rear wing quite literally stands out as an obvious distinguishing feature on the 620R, it is not the only component adapted from the GT4’s aggressive track specification to meet road homologation standards. The front bumper, splitter and bonnet have been redesigned – the splitter retaining pronounced aero blades and cut-out – while the carbon fiber bonnet has twin nostrils to aid downforce and clean up the airflow over the top of the car. Downforce at the front of the car is further increased by dive planes that create vortices of low-pressure air at track level and help accelerate airflow along the car’s sides, as well as significantly aiding brake-cooling. The dive planes contribute up to 30kg (66lbs) of downforce as part of the 65kg (143lbs) delivered by the full frontal aero package.
The performance, feel, feedback and handling characteristics of the 620R will leave a driver in no doubt that it is a race car at heart, but there are other obvious clues that are apparent before the engine is even started. The interior clearly and immediately stands out as track-inspired - any GT4 race driver will feel instantly at home. As with any serious circuit car, it is as much about what has been stripped out as what has been included - the 620R does not have a floor carpet or a glovebox. Air-conditioning, IRIS Navigation and an audio system are also missing from the standard specification, although all can be selected at no additional cost. A lightweight Bowers & Wilkins upgraded audio system is also available, as a cost option.
Driver and passenger are secured in super-lightweight carbon fiber racing seats by six-point racing harnesses, fitted as standard. Key track touchpoints’ include the red 12 o’clock mark on the steering wheel and door pull straps to aid door closure when a driver is held in place by the harnesses. Structural carbon fiber elements such as extended shift paddles, steering wheel spokes and center console enhance the sense of being in the cabin of a race car.
A McLaren Track Telemetry (MTT) system is standard and is displayed on a center-mounted 7-inch touchscreen. If buyers specify the optional MSO Roof Scoop Upgrade Pack, which features the striking scoop first seen on a Sports Series at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2018, the MTT system can be upgraded to include the three-camera system that is also available as a standalone option.
Each 620R features a dedication plaque on the center console with numerical identification (1 of 350; 2 of 350, etc). As with every McLaren road car, each 620R can be configured to be distinctively individual. Single elements, for example the color of the brake calipers, can be chosen as a solus specification; alternatively, buyers can opt for upgrade packs such as the Gloss Finish Visual Carbon Fiber Exterior Pack, which adds visual drama to everything from the side intakes to the door mirror casings. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) provides further personalization choices, with a range of MSO Defined Exterior options that includes a titanium SuperSports Exhaust with Nano Black Exhaust Finisher and MSO Defined interior upgrades that incorporate a choice of harness colour.
All three exterior colors available as standard on the 620R are inspired by GT4 race cars – McLaren Orange (with white racing stripes), Silica White (orange stripes) or Onyx Black (orange stripes) – and each can be optioned with race number decals and/or partner decals. Further body colors are available in the MSO line-build palette. An even more exclusive decal livery inspired by the McLaren Senna GTR is also available.
620R production will be limited to just 350 customer orders, all hand-built at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, Surrey. Production will begin in January, with each car costing from £250,000 including taxes (UK); for buyers purchasing in Europe and the USA, the price includes a Pure McLaren Track Day, with expert driving tuition at a race circuit

AMG S63 Cabrio 4MATIC+ "The Performance Yacht".
Back in the days the versatile AMG 4.0L biturbo V8 engine in the S63 Cabrio 4MATIC+ took peak performance to a new level at 450kW (612hp).
Mercedes-AMG One man, one engine Handcrafted by Michael Kübler @f1mike28 in Germany Affalterbach.
Driving Performance is my Passion! Mercedes-AMG the Performance and Sports Car Brand from Mercedes-Benz and Exclusive Partner for Pagani Automobili. Mercedes-AMG Handcrafted by Racers.

  Live From Austin:
SUNN O)))
  Big|Brave & Papa M.
~Words & Photographs by Drew Nesbitt~
My initial exposure to the doom, stoner, sludge, and drone scene came back in 2016, when Sleep, Boris, and Sunn O))) were the showcase located at The Mohawk. It was a legendary set that didn’t hold my appreciation until far after I engrossed myself in the taste of these subgenres. I left that show feeling uncertain and relatively uncomfortable at the time, as my background and taste was based on technical, melodical, fast, or grind and slam or the like. It wasn’t until the moment that I met my future brother-in-law (who mentioned that he missed this very show during a conversation on our music tastes and was super bummed) that I was assigned to explore all that Sunn’s catalog had to offer.
Monoliths & Dimensions by SUNN O)))
I had given Monoliths a few playthroughs while driving through town to wash out the commotion of traffic and keep my nerves on track (something I quickly observed provided quite a relaxing atmosphere during a commute). I ended up buying the vinyl a week or so after that, just to drone out to and find new experiences through each listen, without any outside pressure or any specific task that required my full and complete attention. I was finding this one LP to be an incredibly effective form of therapy for a variety of different occurrences I was dealing with in life at the time, and it is currently one of my all-time most cherished possessions.
Tumblr media
My little listening sessions went by over the next few weeks and months, when Life Metal was announced. I couldn’t be more elated at the idea of being able to add more material to my collection of personal therapy. Fresh, new frequencies that the world and I can experience together. Fuck me, man. Upon my first initial reaction, it was game on. That moment was as real as it gets. Every day -- in the truck, at work -- there was a fucking will and there was a way to get my ass to see them live again in my lifetime, with full presence, understanding, and utmost appreciation to make up for the last.
Life Metal by SUNN O)))
Months Later
Then came the announcement: September 2nd, 2019 -- Sunn O))) at Emo's Austin on East Riverside Drive in Austin, Texas.
Tumblr media
You kidding me? Like fucking for real? *instant ticket purchase* After the weeks pass by, it’s game day. Could I get something out of this show that I had only heard about? That pure experience of saturation? That body high that I missed out on before? The full understanding and appreciation? These were just a few thoughts that I was getting increasingly anxious and excited over.
Accompanying me was my sister, brother-in law, his close friend, and some friends that I’ve accrued over the years within the local scene -- all there to share the night with me, something I would equate to one of the most incredible musical experiences of my life.
Open Doors, Setting
Tumblr media
Upon doors open, there was a line at the merch stand that lengthed from the back of the venue all the way past the entry. This increased rapidly as more listeners poured in and stayed this way for a majority of the night. Would anyone take the chance at getting the Earthquaker collaboration Life Pedal?
There was a drape casted over the production backline about three quarters back into the venue, quartering the bar and merch sections that could obstruct the lighting production on the other side. This was a great call, as it kept the stage during Sunn’s set at a 100% fog-to-the-max presence. Something eerie, yet so right.
Tumblr media
BIG|BRAVE
Tumblr media
The initial stroke of the percussion provided an overbearing and booming thump for listeners to guide themselves with. Shortly, melodies and chords begin to introduce themselves.
A Gaze Among Them by B I G | B R A V E
Two minutes in, the crowd has begun to synchronize head bobbing and full attention is at the stage beyond the drapes. Big Brave's presence on stage was immaculate, with the drummer’s kit being the centerpiece and source of radiant light for vocalist/guitarist right and lead guitarist left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The vocals came out as an element of desperation, with backing of climactic drones from the strings, and the ever-present primal build of the drums. Violent lashing out of chords, increasing build up, and absolute invention of release characterised the performance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introduced mid-set, the lead guitarist produced a string bow to create a hymn of ultimate expression to pair with the lingering and cast out vocals. The physical acquisition of feedback elements from the group’s stage gear was a large and reinforced part of the set, perfectly executed to provide elements of unexpected turns throughout each song.
Tumblr media
PAPA M.
Tumblr media
Lonesome man. Silhouette drawn and clear. Mysticism in darkness. Yet comforting and responsive to only his own answers.
Tumblr media
Papa M.'s performance can be best described as a graceful walk through the essence of spiritual being. The arpeggios and progression of his set began with a sense of an individual on some path, destination unknown.
However, confident and unwavered by any objections represented by the synth effects halfway through, it was like being walked through a shaman’s vision with a rumbling purpose and a humble triumph at curtains.
Tumblr media
After a quick break in the smoke pit to gather my thoughts, and group up with friends, I headed back in for the mainstay.
Tumblr media
SUNN O)))
Reentry into the venue. Wall of fog. Tension, uncertainty, confusion, anxiety, disparity, withdrawal. Could this representation of what I was looking for be a true answer to what I couldn’t appreciate before?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The stage was represented with almost zero visibility and complete amnesty. The first chord is cast. Instantly the crowd is in unison. A physical sound that could not escape, but be completely consumed by the listener. Being in the back it was amazing to the effect it had on the listener. Observing that each individual was in grasp of this physical wave of sound -- a few of them lost in it, just like myself during my listening sessions.
Film by The Dead Texan
Getting my way up to the barricade was something I would compare to walking through a horde. Feeling the shake of the foundation kept me on my wits as I was weaving through the crowd. 30 minutes in, and I can see that Sunn has enveloped the entirety of the crowd with the most mesmerizing drone of sound that I can’t even begin to explain. Every individual just there listening, stricken, guided by frequencies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After completing all of my busywork, I get directed by the venue cadre to deposit my belongings accordingly, then hustle back in to enjoy the set. At this point, I’ve found my sister and brother and just watch. Moments go by, colors change, omnipresence solidifies. I begin to find myself close to those listening sessions. Standing, and mentally outside of myself, I was hypnotized -- able to understand what I couldn’t before. Our bodies were only a tool to soak this physical form of saturation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunn O))) live was the most insane and ultimate thing I had ever experienced in music. It was the most beautifully orchestrated masturbation of the best pieces of musical equipment I had ever witnessed. It was the first time I felt my entire body have a physical reaction to music.
Without doubt, this was the best form of therapy I’ve been a part of.

Note
OP is right, but didn't explain why. I'm gonna explain why.
If you're falling because of gravity, you are accelerating. That means your speed is changing. When you push on the gas pedal in your car, it accelerates you.
However, if you're falling on a planet with an atmosphere, you accelerate until the drag force equals gravity and they cancel. You see, the gravity force is just mass*g. It doesn't really change. But drag force DOES change based on a TON of shit. Let's break it down:
Drag Force = 0.5 * (density of air) * (area of object falling)*C * V^2
The density of air is just some number, and C is just some other number, so let's ignore them. They don't really change much between animals.
The area of the object is importance here. If the area is huge, like a parachute, the drag force will be huge. If the velocity, V, is huge, the drag force will be really, REALLY huge.
Next, remember I said that those forces need to cancel? Well if they do, you STOP accelerating. This doesn't mean you stop moving, oh no, it means your speed stops changing. We call this terminal velocity, as in the acceleration has terminated. Imagine you're in your car going 60 mph. If you're staying fixed at that speed, then all the forces on your car are canceled out, and your acceleration is zero.
So if the forces cancel, that means they add up to zero. Which means they're the same size, so we can set them equal to each other. Doing some algebra will give us this expression for terminal velocity:
Terminal velocity = [2*mass*g/((density of air)*C*(Area))]^(1/2)
That might look intimidating, but it boils down to two main things:
1. Mass is in the numerator
2. Area is in the denominator
If you're really heavy, your terminal velocity will be bigger. And if you have some way of making your area bigger, like a parachute, your terminal velocity will be smaller.
There's one last wrinkle to all of this that I can't avoid bringing up since the clever reader will no doubt say, "but as you get more massive, doesn't your area get bigger too? Shouldn't those things cancel?"
The answer, surprisingly, is no! This is because of the so called "square cube" law.
As animals get taller, their area goes up by the square of that. If I'm a 1 foot tall animal, my area is about 1 foot squared. (About) And if I'm a 2 foot tall animal, my area is around 4 feet squared. No problems yet...
However, mass is another animal (pun kinda intended). It goes up with volume, not area. So, it's not squared, it's cubed. If I'm a foot tall, my volume is about 1 foot cubed (very roughly). BUT if I'm 2 feet tall, my volume is 8 feet cubed. (Again, very roughly)
So, hopefully you see that the mass getting bigger and area getting bigger are two very different things. I'm not expecting great math skills to understand this post, but I hope you get that 8 is greater than 4. And if we take a guess that you're around 16 times taller than a mouse, your area is about 256 times bigger. Good news! More drag force for you! BUT! Your mass is about 4,096 times greater, soooo your terminal velocity is wayyy the fuck bigger.
We can unpack the square cube law into the terminal velocity equation from earlier and we get this:
Terminal velocity ~~= (some constants)* [(height of the animal)]^(1/2) (again, very roughly)
That just means, in general, the bigger the animal, the faster their terminal velocity will be.
All of which is just to say, if you want to take an elephant and a mouse skydiving, give the elephant the mouse's parachute.
WHAT DO U MEAN A MOUSE CAN SURVIVE FALLING OFF A SKYSCRAPER
haha, yeah! surprise?
pretty much every mammal from about squirrel-sized and down has a terminal velocity so low that they can fall literally any distance and not take lethal damage, provided that they don't land on something sharp.
Tumblr media
hence their willingness to just wildly yeet themselves off of things as a valid escape tactic.

The Audi e-tron Prototype Testing at Pikes Peak
The Audi e-tron prototype combines enormous power and high efficiency. With a system output of up to 300 kW, the full-size SUV with a fully electric drive accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in less than six seconds. In the WLTP test cycle, it covers more than 400 kilometers (248.5 mi) on one battery charge. One important factor for the long range is the most innovative recuperation concept among the competitors. The electric SUV proved this with an impressive performance at Pikes Peak.
The scenario: Each kilometer downhill brings around an additional kilometer in range At 4,302 meters (14,115 ft), Pikes Peak looms high in the southern Rocky Mountains. Where Walter Röhrl won the world’s most famous hill climb in the Audi Sport quattro S1 back in 1987, it is the Audi e-tron prototype that is now causing a sensation with its recuperation system that is variable and thus the most efficient among all the competitors. On its 31 kilometer (19 mi) downhill drive, the electric SUV feeds so much energy back to the battery that it can cover approximately the same distance again. The difference in altitude of about 1,900 meters (6,233.6 ft) provides the necessary conditions for this. The Audi e-tron prototype recuperates energy with up to 300 Nm of torque (221.3 lb-ft) and 220 kW of electric power – more than 70 percent of its operating energy input. No series production model has achieved such a value up to now.
The recuperation concept: from freewheeling to a one-pedal feeling The recuperation system contributes to up to 30 percent of the electric SUV’s range. It involves both the two electric motors and the electrohydraulically integrated brake control system. For the first time, three different recuperation modes are combined: manual coasting recuperation using the shift paddles, automatic coasting recuperation via the predictive efficiency assist, and brake recuperation with smooth transition between electric and hydraulic deceleration. Up to 0.3 g, the Audi e-tron prototype recuperates energy solely via the electric motors, without using the conventional brake – that covers over 90 percent of all decelerations. As a result, energy is fed back to the battery in practically all normal braking maneuvers.
The driver can select the degree of coasting recuperation in three stages using the steering wheel paddles. At the lowest stage, the vehicle coasts with no additional drag torque when the driver releases the accelerator pedal. At the highest stage, the electric SUV reduces the speed noticeably – the driver can slow down and accelerate using only the accelerator pedal. This creates the one-pedal feeling. There is no need to use the brake pedal in this deceleration scenario.
The wheel brakes are involved only when the driver decelerates by more than 0.3 g using the brake pedal. They respond extremely quickly, thanks to a new electrohydraulic actuation concept. Audi is the first manufacturer worldwide to use this concept in a series production vehicle with electric drive. A hydraulic piston in the compact brake module generates additional pressure and thus additional brake force for the recuperation torque. When automated emergency braking is performed, there are only 150 milliseconds between the initiation of the deceleration and the presence of maximum brake pressure between the pads and disks. Thanks to this rapid pressure buildup, the braking distance is shortened by up to 20 percent compared with a conventional brake system.
Depending on the driving situation, the electrohydraulically integrated brake control system decides – electrically on each individual axle – whether the Audi e-tron prototype will decelerate using the electric motor, the wheel brake, or a combination of the two. The brake pedal is decoupled from the hydraulic system. The transition from the engine brake to the pure friction brake is smooth, and the driver does not notice it. This system allows the electric SUV to exploit its maximum recuperation potential in a targeted manner with support from the standard efficiency assist. The system uses radar sensors, camera images, navigation data and Car-to-X information to detect the traffic environment and the route. The driver is shown corresponding information in the Audi virtual cockpit as soon as it would be sensible to take the foot off the accelerator pedal. By interacting with the optional adaptive cruise assist, the efficiency assist can also decelerate and accelerate the electric SUV predictively.
The asynchronous motors: strong performance What is fascinating about the SUV with electric drive is not just its efficiency but also its performance. Its two electric motors have an output of 265 kW and develop 561 Nm (413.8 lb-ft) of torque. They can deliver this peak performance for up to 60 seconds. This way, they allow the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to the electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h (124.3 mph) several times consecutively without output losses. The maximum drive torque is present within fractions of a second and provides enormous torque. By shifting from drive range D to S and fully depressing the right-hand pedal, the driver can activate boost mode. It is available for eight seconds. Here, the drive produces 300 kW of system output and 664 Nm (489.7 lb-ft) of torque. The Audi e-tron prototype sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in less than six seconds.
