okay let’s leave cis/trans portion aside for a moment

my main question then is why most if not all slash fics need to have a focus on the person who experienced the childbirth at all?

i haven’t read a lot of fics that really had any timeline of actual pregnancy, mostly just fics with harry (for example) being already raised by jegulus or wolfstar because they are the main couple and are the focus of their story. examining their trials and tribulations with their parenthood just like with a real family. i just don’t really see a natural avenue when the gay parents are going through their lives to stop and ponder and revel in the intricacies of the childbirth they did not experience for the child they’re raising? if the author isn’t trying to write a story about the nuances of a lily or ginny character wanting to experience motherhood, they want to write a jegulus or wolfstar or drarry fic, why do they have to speak on those issues?

i just simply can’t agree that going to read another fic is not the solution. not every fic can cover every issue and every idea and everything you want to see written. maybe you’re qualms are with the sheer number of gay fics versus fics that have a focus on motherhood/childbirth/etc. but people are going to write what they wanna write and read what they wanna read. it’s just not really fair to think fics especially ones about gay men have to include the exact topics of feminism you want to see when that’s just really not what they are for.

Becoming increasingly frustrated with the entire concept of “weed-out” classes at an undergraduate academic level.

IF you have a deliberately engineered a class that has a pass rate of less than 40%, you are a bad teacher! That is UNCONSICIONABLE in a world where a single college course can easily cost over $1000 plus books and materials! These are undergrads! Their ability to continue to attend school and get out with a Bachelor’s in ANYTHING is probably reliant on scholarships and grants and loans, and you are PROUD of designing a money-pit deliberately set up to make them fail?? Absolutely disgusting tbh
