It is reasonable to want to not be talked about behind your back.

It is also reasonable to want private spaces to share your opinions.

From a privacy perspective it legitimate wouldn’t be fair to a private space to make exceptions for posters to see reblogs into private communities. It would be like letting a poster see who I dm’d their post to and we can all agree that would be wack.

Is there a reason you have to believe that these private spaces would be any more of an issue than the private spaces that already exist for small groups to share content with each other behind posters backs like group chats or private discords?

Hey can we talk about “tumblr communities”?

So at first I got really exited because they looked like a shift towards the smaller livejournal communities or old forums from ye olden days of fandom. I thought “great! A way to make more friends and collate art and fic in one place.” Love that!

…and then I did more reading and I have a genuine concern.

Here are the sections from the official beta roll out page that made me pump the breaks:

“Members can post directly into a community or reblog posts from anywhere on Tumblr into a community…” okay makes sense but wait... “Posts and reblogs inside communities also have a new ‘comments’ section… that is only viewable to the community.”

Oh. Oh no.

So we are creating invite-only walled gardens where someone’s art can be reblogged and people get to comment all over it, and the artist can’t see that?

We are creating a space where an author can have their work praised or criticized behind a curtain, further driving down actual comments left on ao3?

We are building locked rooms where personal posts can be nailed to the wall and inner circles get to say whatever they want on the post and the person who made said post can’t even stop them by blocking these people?

Why are people excited about this? How is making or joining these things going to be anything less than gatekeeping and ostracism? How are fandoms supposed to grow and attract more lovely writers, artists, and readers? How…

I am genuinely asking here, am I the only person worried about this? Am I the only person who noticed this? What are we (fandom at large) thinking here?

As a fellow world trigger fan I have to know… when you first read Hyuse’s name how did you pronounce it in your head? Because let me tell you when I first heard them say it I was FLOORED that it was one syllable

I think i just pronounced it in one syllable as well. I only think i came to pronouncing his name that way was, because i kept pronouncing his name in my head and that way was just the one that sounded right to me.

Whenever you actually talk (post things that aren't screenshots) it lowkey scares me, it's like going to a movie and everything is normal until the main character looks directly into the camera and asks me if I like the movie. Mayhaps the sonder hits different.

Tried out colored pencils for a while piece and also a cartoony kind of style for pretty much the first time. This was for some kind of YouTube video response “draw yourself as a Pokémon trainer” so I asked my friends to give me a Pokémon each. The badges on the scarf is my actual progress rn through soulsilver.

I haven’t posted anything in a WHILE dang. I really use tumblr more for browsing fandom stuff rather than art or posting anything of my own. But I have a lot of work from the past few years in High School so I guess I ought to have some of it up here as a bit of a record. This was some of my summer homework for Advanced Studio Art. It’s me on a paddleboard from a picture taken when I was like 13 I think.

Do you like chainmaille? Do you like jewelry? Do you like being able to wear something that’s both aesthetically pleasing AND painful if you hit someone with it? Why, you’ve come to the right place!

That’s right folks, I make chainmaille jewelry (and other stuff). I primarily helm weave or European 4-in-1/6-in-1, but I’m willing to try out a different weave if you’re willing to wait a little longer and pay a little more. I work with both aluminum and galvanized steel, but I do not recommend aluminum for s helm weave bracelet or necklace because it’s prone to coming apart easily. Some examples of my work include:

My prices are generally pretty flexible as long as you pay me enough for postage I can work with you for what you’re willing to pay.

Listed prices are:

Helm weave (everything pictured except for the first picture): galvanized steel

Bracelets! $15-25, depending on the complexity of the design/whether you want any kind of bead or pendant hanging from it

Necklaces! $25-40 depending on length, whether or not you want a pendant, and all that Jazz

Septic eyes! I made the septic eye pictured out of aluminum helm weave and put it in one of the gift collection boxes for Jack at PAX. I’m willing to make another one for $15 if anyone’s interested.

European 4-in-1 or 6-in-1 (first item pictured): aluminum or galvanized steel

Banners! I’ll make you a banner with your initial or a (very simple, heart/star/etc.) design for $10-15 depending on size or complexity.

Bracelets! Euro weaves are much looser and more flexible than helm weave, so I can make them easily out of aluminum. $10-15 depending on size and complexity of design. Multiple color options are available.

Necklaces! Again, they’re lighter and flowier than helm weave, and come in multiple colors. They are a bit of a bigger chain though, because they’re not as condensed. I don’t know if a pendant will work that well with this weave, but I can try! $25-40 depending on whether or not you want a pendant/beads and how many rows thick you want it.
