Are you a lesbian? Great! A Butch! Even better!!! Are you from Canada? Maybe even Western Canada!!! Fabulous news! I'm looking for butch lesbians from Canada!

What I'm doing:

I write plays. All my best ideas for plays come to me when I'm waiting for the bus and I was like what if I wrote a play but it was entirely composed of adapted interviews with Butches about their lived experience being butch. Anyways so I'm doing that. My plan is to interview (over messages, phone call, in person, whatever works best for you!) Butches. Specifically Canadian butches! I'll take those interviews and turn them into a docuplay!!

Who even am I?

Great question! I'm Clo! I write plays an I've even produced and directed a couple! I've been writing plays since I was 16 and it's something I'm super passionate about. I myself identify as Butch and honestly was inspired by the lesbian anthology books I've read that were written in the 70s and 80s. I also really like Docuplays. I think they are the rawest form of theater and I think that's cool.

What is a Docuplay?

So glad you asked!!! A docuplay is basically a documentary but performed by actors on a stage! If I'm able to get someone to stage this thing once it's done I would be super interested in casting some of the people I interview to play themselves as well! Being interested in performing is however not a requirement to be interviewed and contribute to the overall collection of the play!

Who I'm looking for?

Butches!!! Of all kinds!!!

I do have some requirements though!

-18+ only!

-Be Butch! Any kind of Butch is allowed you just have to identify yourself as Butch! (This includes Studs! Just to clarify!)

-Be Canadian! I'm located in BC so if you wanna do an in person interview you gotta be local (sorry gang) (I can't drive) But like I said before I am super down for any kind of interview that works for you!!

-And lastly, you gotta be ok with your story being public. I can change your name, places, dates, or anything else you would like when I write your story into the play but I want to be very clear that I really want to publish and stage this play eventually! If you aren't interested in having your story performed on a stage then this probably isn't the project for you, but I would love for you to follow along with the project!

Stories I'm looking for:

Anything really! I'm using the word interview lightly. Do you have a funny lesbian bar story? A relationship that you want to talk about? Your experience being butch? A poem you wrote? Something light? Something heavy? All stories are welcome! I want this to play to capture a wide range of experiences!!

How to join the project?

DM me! Or send me an ask! Either or lol. If enough people are interested I might make like a discord server or have like an email list or smth for communicating.

How many people am I looking for?

I'm hoping to have at least 20 stories. I will welcome more or less stories, if I get too many to fit into one play I would be interested in exploring an anthology or some other way to include everyone but I honestly don't know how many people this will even reach lol.
