Going along with that last post I rb, because I agree generally speaking but didn't want to tack on my thoughts, I wish there was some sort of identifier for "reluctantly cis" because not all people who appear cis identify with their agab.

I've thought long and hard about it and it's been a process, and for a hot minute I was really gung ho about transitioning but then it just seemed like a lot of work. Overall I don't think transition is for me, even though I did dip my toe into it and tried on names and pronouns and clothes, I never got far enough for hormones. So then you would think I'd be one of those "cis+" folks who re-falls in love with their gender but I don't really give a rat's ass about my agab.

I know nonbinary or agender are available, but those labels don't seem to fit either. I recently shaved my head and I thought it would make me look neutral or masculine, but it doesn't, I still look definitely like a woman.

I just want to be a human person. I want to be respected as an equal in a society of equals, and that's definitely not what's happening right now.

So anyway, I'm reluctantly cis because making it work in the body I was born with is an easier path for me personally. I get that my choice isn't the right one for everyone and it took me years to get here and is probably an unpopular thing to say here on tumblr.

It helped that I had the prior experience of moving cities and realizing the location doesn't make me happy if I don't make different choices. I can't move cities or change my gender and expect things to improve if I don't do some self reflection and inner work. Changing outside circumstances only doesn't actually "fix" me.

Anyways, here's to the "reluctantly cis" among us. Who are just kinda here and not really caring one way or the other about personal gender or labels or whatnot. But who are supportive of those who do transition because that is a lot of work!
