A closeup of the papyrus containing what is believed to be the only known example of Cleopatra VII’s handwriting: The Greek word, ginesthoi, meaning “Make it so” on the bottom of a papyrus granting a tax exemption to a friend of Marc Antony’s. The Ptolemaic Dynasty, which Cleopatra belonged to, was primarily Greek, and the language of the court was Greek which is why she would be writing in that language.

@ardenssolis said ; Have a drink with me / (from prompts)
The palm of her hand that have been carefully resting underneath her chin now lowered to rest on her lap as she tilted her head slightly to the side, bright teal eyes that were hidden under long eyelashes were now locked with the alluring eyes of the fellow pharaoh in front of her, a real living pharaoh, lively as the sun. He truly had that title well earned, by his sunkissed skin and the warm color on his eyes, there was no doubt that the man in front of her was the famous sun king Ozymandias.
For some reason, it was his voice that truly caught her attention the most. What a captivating voice he had... it was somehow something one could have expected from such an important person such as himself, to have a strong firm voice, yet for a first meeting, it still managed to sparkle surprise on Cleopatra as his voice resonated inside her mind.
The corner of her lips tugged upwards as she stared up at him, and she couldn´t really contain her genuine amusement over his words as a small laugh escaped her lips; "---Pharaoh Ozymandias, are you so nervous you forgot your modals? a small ´please´ wouldn´t hurt either of us" A smile slips past her lips, and with her little innocent teasing being said and done, she finally got up from her seat, and with a delicate motion, her arm now gallantly slid around his muscular one like how a viper slids through branches of trees.
"----Regardless of that, I feel honored to finally meet you sun king, if it weren´t for you coming to meet me, i was certainly going to take the first step myself" A pause followed by, and curiosity now dripped from her voice; "So, where are we going then?"
#ardenssolis#ANYWAYS HAVE A CHUNK OF TEXT SHI#i write little or a lot n o in between#thanks for sending this in!#sir ur modals slipped !

@ecsterlier said ; ❝ did you see that? ❞ (prompts)
"Fascinating." was the reply of the Pharaoh as her lips curved in slight amusement over the sight of the recently shooted canon ball reaching to its respective end--- which was not the opposing ship, but rather, the turbulent waves of the sea. If only the captain had been more focused on the battle than bragging about his skills, then maybe he would have been able to calculate better the trajectory of the cannonball.
The captain... Right---- A tall man, dressed in gold, with peculiar pants and a big ego...That was the captain of the Argo.
The man was a rather strange combination when one put all of these elements together, yet not to Cleopatra. She was used to meeting peculiar individuals during her lifetime, and as a servant, she was certain he was not going to be the last. She had yet to meet many more interesting people, she had yet to learn about their cultures..... And it was that curiosity that drove her more than any other wish the grail could even manage to offer her.
Her hand was now resting over the saber's shoulder in an almost featherlike way, subtle, yet enough to catch his attention as she turned her head around from the sea to now the captain.
"Please do not misunderstand me captain of the Argo, but if that is all you have to show, I would like to take control of attacks we'll be launching to our enemies from now on. Your tactics have been well intended, but I'm afraid this sadly will not bring us any good. Is that alright with you?"
#ecsterlier#;ic#;asks#/thanks for sending this in!#/she does not want to mock him but she is starting to worry about their supplies---

On the morning of this day in history, September 2nd, in 31 B.C., the Battle of Actium was fought between the combined forces of Cleopatra VII and her husband, Marc Antony, and those of Octavian.
The Battle was a decisive victory for Octavian; many of Antony’s ships were undermanned due to a malaria outbreak among his troops and one of his generals had defected to the other side before the battle began and told Octavian his battle strategy.
After their defeat, Antony and Cleopatra retreated to Alexandria with what was left of their forces. Octavian pursued them there, and many more of Antony’s men would desert him and join with the forces of Rome. The couple were ultimately defeated the following year, and both would then famously take their own lives.
