Saturday, March 24, 1984. Shermer High School, Shermer, Illinois, 60062. Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Correct? That’s the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed.

I’ve had a lot of messages asking me just how far I’m travelling to see taylorswift on November 8th, and also a lot of messages asking about my “story” of how I got into Taylor in the first place, so I thought I’d show people on a map and share my story! It’s almost 10,000 miles and it’s over 14 hours on a plane. Why would I do that when I already saw Taylor in Glasgow with thescotlandsquad and again a few days later in London this year? I love Taylor more than anything in the world. I first discovered her music back in 2006, when I was in Primary School (I think it’s called elementary in America?) and now I’m half way through my Bachelor’s degree at university and Taylor has been with me through it all. I was badly bullied in primary school from around the age of 7, and being really young I didn’t understand why these people were picking on me. Nobody would come within a certain distance of me unless they had to, proclaiming that I had “germs”. This was particularly true of boys. Not a single boy would come anywhere near me, and I grew up believing that something was wrong with me, that I was disgusting and unlovable. During this time I started doing things I really regret now that I’m older. I wouldn’t eat lunch at school because I thought that starving myself would make them think I was pretty, and therefore better. When they called me ugly and said my hair was horrible, I started pulling it out. Eventually I had to stop doing that because my mum saw the bald patches but I found other ways to cope. When I first found Taylor in 2006 all this had been going on for a few years, and I was now 9 (I turned 10 on December 13th that year, not knowing at the time that I shared a birthday with my hero - imagine my reaction when I found out!). I began to turn to Taylor’s music when I needed comfort or love. My parents weren’t around a lot when I was young because they had to work and they had separated when I was very small (so small that I don’t even remember it happening) and so I spent a lot of my childhood (from the ages of 7-15) with a child-minder who wasn’t very nice to me. Flash forward to the beginning of high school in 2007 and I’d started hurting myself in new ways. It wasn’t as often any more and wouldn’t become regular again for a few years. I got my first “boyfriend” that year although I don’t think you could call him a boyfriend seeing as how he wouldn’’t even kiss me. To 11 year old me, it was like the last 6 years of bullying was happening all over again, and yet again I turned to Taylor. Tied Together With A Smile physically held me together throughout that period in my life and when that guy broke up with me over text 5 months later I still wasn’t sure what I’d done wrong. Again, Taylor was there. In my first two or three years of high school I spent a lot of time with people who pretended to be my friends, but were talking badly about me and spreading lies behind my back. That was the year that Fearless was released and the next year I got to see Taylor live for the first time, travelling from my then home in Glasgow to Manchester for the fearless tour on 24/11/09. It was so magical and I’d wwaited to see her live for so long, despite having nosebleed seats I couldn’t control my excitement and ran down to the middle of the arena and stood for the majority of the time a bit away from the B-Stage. I’ll never forget hearing Fearless live for the first time. A year passes from that day and things are getting much worse for me. Those friends who I had stuck with beccause my parents warned me about being alone in high school constantly made me feel bad about myself and I started having problems with my weight again. When this happened, Taylor was right there as she had always been except now there was even more music to help me. Songs like White Horse and Love Story and Forever and Always kept me smiling and dancing through everything, and I will always be grateful for that. In 2010, I found better friends who I believed cared about me, and I was in a much better place mentally when Speak Now was released. Speak Now is my favourite Taylor album to date and I went to the Glasgow date in a “gown shaped like a pastry” - which is also what I’m wearing to 1989 Singapore! I was able to build close friendships that year, and everything was going fine. And then suddenly it wasn’t. I had grown close to a member of my family who started to ignore me, and shut me out of her life for no reason. She would ignore my messages. my texts, my calls. It was hell for me because I loved her so much, she was my favourite person. I had to learn the hard way that sometimes you have to give up on people and stop trying. In 2011, I saw the Speak Now tour in Manchester, again travelling from Glasgow. We told my school I had a dentist appointment and that I might be taking more than one day off for the pain, and drove from Scotland to the concert that night. The Speak Now Tour was incredible. I can’t begin to tell you how much it meant to me to be seeing Taylor again after 2 years. It was like catching up with an old friend. Later that year I would make a tumblr, and discover a whole fandom for people who loved Taylor just as much as me. Not imagining even in my wildest dreams that 4 years later Taylor herself would be following my blog and liking my posts. That fact still brings a smile to my face every single day.  In 2012, I got into a bit of bother with my friends who I thought loved me so much. A girl I had known since primary school in the group turned on me, and refused to be seen with me or speak to me or anything. She literally pretended I never existed. This went on for about 2 years, until the end of high school in 2013 where I decided that to show everyone I wasn’t invisible and I was worthy, I would wear the most amazing dress I could find (pictured above!!) I got to feel like a princess for one night and it was insane. It was like telling everyone who I was properly. When 22 played, I was straight on that dance floor and people actually made room for me there. It was like Taylor was there saying “I support you, go for it”. In 2012 I also got involved with a girl from Tumblr who I became very very close to, e were eachother’s everything, but she was toxic to me and to my mental health so eventually the time came to let us go. I broke her heart and mine, but I had the whole Red album to get me through, and new University friends to help me when I was feeling bad (girls who are now my best friends). I am in a much better place and I have both them and Taylor to thank for that. We travelled to London to see the Red Tour together in 2014, and saw two girls get Club Red! I had a bit of a rough summer spending time on my own that year, my first boyfriend and I ended things that July and I really struggled to cope and I relapsed but I’m doing muuch better now and that’s what counts.I’m now about to enter my third year of University in September, having seen Taylor a total of 5 times (soon to be 6). I’m travelling almost 10,000 miles to be at the Singapore date and I couldn’t be happier about it.  I can’t wait to Shake It Off with you again taylorswift! I’m flying to Singapore on November 6th, and I’ll see you on the 8th. I’ll be the one in white in Block 208 Row 18.
I haven’t talked about even half the stuff I wanted to here because I’m aware it got really long but Taylor means everything to me and I really hope she knows that.  I have amazing friends now and a cat who all love me, thank you for always being there. I love you always Taylor.
Nicole.

“Mueller did not merely brush his hand against Ms. Swift while posing for the photograph,” state the papers. “He lifted her skirt and groped her.” After the alleged incident, Swift was “surprised, upset, offended, and alarmed,” and informed her photographer, tour manager and security team, according to the papers. According to the suit, Swift – who is demanding a jury trial – will be donating any money she wins from the suit to “charitable organizations dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.”
