i made this comic to share some of my thoughts on trans day of visibility!! idk if its very eloquent but gimme a break ive just been moving and starting a new job and joining the circus and

In light of some of the many things happening across the world this year, I thought this Pride Month needed a special illustration.

Happy Pride Month, may we all stay safe, look after each other, and keep painting our rainbows, no matter what. 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Approximately 50% of marriages end in divorce and only around 8% of trans people detransition (with 62% of detransitioners subsequently transitioning again) so I think we should stop infantilizing trans people and hammering them over and over with “What if you regret this?” comments and start turning that scrutiny towards people who are engaged as they are statistically much more likely to regret their decision and suffer for it.

If you're holding back on being masc because you think you need to be a skinny white man to pass, give that the fuck up. Be big if you're big, be brown if you're brown, be assertive, take up space, be whatever the fuck kind of man/masc you are and stop waiting. Stop trying to diminish your power out of fear.

I know it's tough out there right now, and I'm incredibly sorry that the wider queer community treats you like you don't matter. I'm sorry that you're seen as predators, or invalid because your most authentic self is seen as a "threat" or a half-assed.

I promise, there are people out there of all varieties who will treat you with the love and respect that you deserve. It may take some work to find them, but they exist.

You matter, your feelings matter, you're important, and the world is a better place with you in it.

Thank you for living. Thank you for being in this world. Thank you for everything. I love you, truly.

And interestingly enough, Joanca was voiced by Masako Katsuki, who would go on to voice another groundbreaking LGBTQ+ character nearly a decade later… Michiru Kaioh/Sailor Neptune!
