roxanneweaslxy:
“Teddy!” delighted laughter erupted out of Roxanne as she let him pull her upright. She reached and grabbed the few things she had been carrying and turned her attention back towards him. The store was overcrowded, buzzing with conversation. Occasionally she’d overhear an excited first year ask their annoyed older sibling a question and she couldn’t help but smile, remembering that not that long ago that was her and Fred. “What are you looking for?”
She couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride that she knew the Head Boy and Girl. Teddy and Victoire were popular, the coolest witch and wizard at Hogwarts but Roxanne - along with the rest of the Wotters - knew them well enough to call them names and tease them. As she stood, her eyes scanned the books around her, landing on the last one she needed and grinning as she grabbed it and held it close, almost as if it were something precious to her.
It was nice seeing someone that she didn’t want to avoid. Her days of school shopping consisted of taking the long way around to avoid pointless conversation. No, she didn’t keep in touch with many people - she didn’t want to listen to their fake exclamations of how much they missed her. If they truly wanted to see her, they could have reached out at any given moment. Of course, she knew very well it was a two way street.
Bumping into Roxanne was like a safe haven for Teddy. The day so far had been tiring and stressful. Someone warm and trustworthy amongst Teddy’s close adopted family was a breath of fresh air. “I’m so sorry-not the best way to say hello,” Teddy told her with a smile. A gentle smile spread across his face as he helped prop her back up.
He nodded at the store and chaos around them. “I thought finding my charms books would be a bit simpler than this. Unfortunately I forgot everyone else had the same plan...what are you looking for?”
After someone bumped into him, it not being his fault this time, he wondered if he should take a break from the shopping and wait for the other customers to weave out. “Do you need help or would you like to take a tea break and wait for more wiggle room to actually find something in here?”

theirgoldenvictory:
Victoire adored people, this was no secret. She loved the bustle and excitement of Diagon Alley and how almost everyone seemed to be going somewhere and ready to do something. But she found herself unable to muster her usual enthusiasm. There was a little more tension in the air then there normally was, and the crowds seemed much less friendly than they had before - though perhaps that was simply all in Vic’s head.
Her hope of escaping the crowd on the streets was absolutely naive, she knew, and it was only confirmed when she came upon the swarm among the shelves at Flourish and Blotts. Nearly knocked over by a herd of third years and narrowly avoiding careening into a stack of unshelved books, she half tumbled around the corner into the section she needed until she stumbled directly into a figure more human than the shelves she had been afraid of knocking over.
She was dismayed from her place on the floor, until she heard the familiar voice and looked up at him. She couldn’t help but laugh. “Of course, you’re the one to knock me over. At least, I took you by surprise even if it was by accident.” She held out her hand for his. “Help me up at least?” She glanced at the thoroughly ransacked shelf behind him. “Merlin, we got here late, didn’t we?”
Teddy’s expression softened upon realizing the person he had stumbled across was actually Victoire. Even though Teddy had only seen her not long ago he still smiled warmly at her. His eyes crinkled in amusement at her response and shook his head. It was nice, being able to run into her like this and have it be amusing for both of them. Al though his trance was broken when he realized he was staring instead of helping her back up.
Teddy bowed down and offered her his hand, raising her gently and easily back up. Leave it to Teddy to send people down on the ground. He already was wondering if this was going to be a common occurrence for him this year. “Sorry about that,” Teddy apologized with a smile, his tone even with sincerity. With a quick glance around the small but crowded shop could only confirm her thought.
The sounds of agitated students and their parents, bookkeepers and cashiers filled his ears. “Only a little late,” Teddy grinned and nodded. “What would you say our chances are for finding the books we need?”

it was horrible outside. the air was hot and muggy. it hadn’t exactly been a good day for the potter children to go find their school things. and yet, currently lily was melting in the middle of diagon alley in desperate need of a COOL DOWN. in more ways than one. irritation read crystal clear on the ginger’s face as she tried to pull hair away that stubbornly clung to her neck. then, there was a bit of hope as she saw the ice cream shop nearby. eager to find something to cool herself down, she dashed away from whatever it was her family was doing at the moment in trade to enter the shop. only to be disheartened when she saw the amount of people inside. the girl let out a huff, “ honestly.. i’m going to melt into a puddle before i manage to cool off. “
In a desperate need of a break from shopping, none of it going as well as he thought, Teddy made his way to where the cafes in Diagon Alley were. The only thing he had managed to find was a new quill set and a charms book. In his mind he figured it wouldn’t take long but he was quick to assume the opposite. As he stood in line for the ice cream, his food cravings leading him to the small shop, he heard a familiar voice behind him. He quickly recognized Lily as she stood in the back and Teddy only smiled at her protests. “Then come up here,” Teddy said, gesturing her over. “She’s with me,” Teddy assured to the other people in the line. Thankfully no one made a comment. It had only been a few weeks since Teddy saw Lily last but he couldn’t help but smile as she came over.

It had been James intention from the start of summer that he was going to end up throwing a party. And it typically James style he was determined to make it the best. After much begging and pleading and a promise to his mom that he would indeed clean up (with Lily and Albus helping of course) his parents had rather reluctantly agreed as long as it was only for a few people. They had even offered to o spend the night at Ron and Hermiones. James however had decided that a few people meant the entire school and after a few well placed owls to people he knew would spread the gossip he set underway to plan the party.
This is how he found himself in Diagon alley a few days before the party. He had taken it upon himself to get all the supplies for said party. This meant he had organized the alcohol and a stop at Honeydukes. He was headed down towards Weasley’s Wheezes when he felt himself bump into someone. “Hey watch where your… Oh hey party at my place you should come. You’re coming right?” He asked the person he had bumped into.
It was a poor decision that Teddy made annually to do everything on his to do list for school supplies last minute. This meant his books and new quills along with Slughorn’s endless list of supplies. It was a wonder why Teddy needed goat’s feet on his first day and he was reluctant to ask anyone at the apothecary for what that meant.
Teddy was deep in thought and didn’t realize he bumped into James, his hand stretching out to prop the other one up so they didn’t both stumble to the ground. With a hand on the other’s shoulder, Teddy sent him a grin and raised an eyebrow. “Inviting everyone are you? Of course I got your invitation. And the second one. And I appreciate the third one now,” Teddy listed with a smile, gesturing at James. “Need help party planning or setting up?”

“This is definitely my favorite part of going back to school” she spoke as she looked through different books in the shelf, a warm smile spread across her face. Flourish and Blotts was her favorite place in Diagon Alley, the store would always fill her with a sense of safety, one she completely adored. “Ohhh, I hadn’t seen this one before” she murmured as she picked one of the texts on top of a pile.
“Your favorite part of school isn’t even at school?’‘ Teddy teased and gave her a bright smile. He enjoyed spending time with Rose, she seemed to always be collected and optimistic. Their love of books was one of the many thing he shared with her. When she began browsing other books, Teddy followed instinctively. “Perhaps ask for it for your birthday? I was sure your father said only buy important things like school supplies.”

Merlin, Teddy loved visiting Diagon Alley but it was a struggle on these days. The increasing number of anticipating students shopping around for school supplies left him more feeling overwhelmed. But it couldn’t be helped. It was his last year at school and was Head Boy added to that. It was an added pressure but he was sure he would deal with it well enough. Especially since Victoire was the chosen Head Girl. Knowing his closest friend would be there was comforting.
Stepping into the crowded bookshop, Teddy kept his gaze averted from the somewhat familiar faces that piled into the store and beelined for the section he was positive his book would be. Clearly everyone else had the same idea as well since none of them were in stock. In his narrowed focus on the possibility of not having the required reading, he failed to notice the other person rounding the shelves from the other side before colliding into them.
“Merlin!” he exclaimed, a little more loudly than intended. Teddy ran a nervous hand through his hand and immediately bent down to help the other person. “Sorry, sorry-I am so sorry. I wasn’t expecting you there.”
