I'm genuinely crying thinking about the fact that sonic was the second person in shadow's entire life outside of maria that showed such genuine kindness towards him. The reason he was so quick to really open up to sonic was because he Felt so entirely understood and seen. It makes me think that the moment they started bantering playfully with each other was the closest shadow must've been himself since maria :(
