Rhodes Island is a real place in Greece ! I don’t know too much about it but it has a good amount of historical and mythological significance which is cool.

Chernobog is named after a real world Slavic god associated with misfortune. Loosely translated it means “black god” while Chernobyl is “black weed.” Also according to wikipedia Chernobog originally meant “bad fate” so that’s cool too. with the whole chernobog incident in game. yeah

Aegir in Norse mythology is a sort of personification of the sea.

Laterano is an area in Rome and home to the Lateran Palace, which was the home of popes in history until they moved to the Vatican.

and finally Columbia, which implies Christopher Columbus is canonical to the Arknights universe. which is amazing.

The world of Arknights is insane (its on pc now so I can play). This is not the post I was intending to create today, but my other projects are taking longer than expected. Anyway, I absolutely adore when fiction steals names wholesale from the real world, maybe changing a little bit like a letter or two but overall keeping them identical. And Fire Emblem does this a little bit with places like Macedon, but Arknights is so unsubtle its crazy. I'm not sure if it's an English localization specific thing but there is just so much.

I'm sure there's plenty of stuff my Euro/American-centric education did not prime me to catch, but there's also stuff that I'm not sure most people anywhere would catch. There's the blatant stuff like Rhodes Island being the name of the land ship and also just a really weird way to make the US state a plural noun. There's also Columbia, though I haven't really seen what it's about. Or more stereotyping things like Siracusa being run by the mafia or Iberia having a fucking inquisition. Some are less obvious, but Aegir is seemingly named after the Aegean Sea, or Chernobog and Chernobyl. Some I haven't figured out, like Laterano, or seem to be thematically named rather than ripped whole cloth like Ursus effectively meaning bear but seemingly being the Terran version of Soviet Russia.

Anyway none of that prepared me to see, as one of the first things I saw in the game, the name Raythean. On some digging through the wiki I learn that the company Raythean Industries is a fucking arms manufacturer. Now, for a lot of people I'm sure they didn't blink at this, but I immediately recognized the name because Raytheon is a real life arms manufacturer and a very common hiring point for fresh mechanical engineer graduates. Naturally, I found this really fucking funny. Because it's one thing to lift the names of regions or places and make overblown facsimiles of the iconic parts of their history, its so very different to just drop a real company in the world and change a single letter. I want to know what the fuck else there is here, will I encounter other thinly veiled references to the military industrial complex? What about big pharma? Will I find Pfuzer, the competitor to Rhodes Island? This game is a fucking riot.

I've been trying to figure out what historical event the fall of the Witch King in Zwillingsturme is meant to correspond to. Can anyone here help me connect these dots?: 1. Zwillingstürme im Herbst translates to "Twin Towers in Autumn," meaning it was an event that happened to some Twin Towers, perhaps in the season of Autumn.

2. Characters refer to a big historical event called the "Septemberaufstand", which means the September revolution, indicating this event happened more specifically in the month of September.

3. Characters repeatedly reference some major historical event that happened "23 years ago." Zwillingsturme was released in 2024 and 23 years before that was 2001, suggesting that this event might correspond specifically to something that happened in 2001.

Can anyone help a girl out and tell me what real life historical event this might be?

i had the same issue but once i started using the kjerag squad with silverash’s strategy, it got a lot easier. gives you ops for free every time you upgrade supply level which lets you breeze through the early stages.

there’s still some rng for better ops later on but it really makes it a lot easier than having to try and balance your funds between recruiting and upgrading. just focus on upgrading and you’ll be a lot better off than with other strategies (in my experience)

how tf do you beat core protocol, the bosses always get me even when im lucky enough to get that far

ive tried abyssal hunter (hard cause it doesnt help much at the start), sniper aspd, and defender. some squads must be better for core protocol, cause of the strict fund limit
