What's this? The child that can see me has returned. There's no point in alerting Lockley-- he'd be more pleased to find out on his own. A pleasant surprise I'm sure, if he assumed the siblings died or were forced to move to worse conditions.

I can't believe she rejected me. I always knew she would, under normal circumstances-- but with the world at stake!? Her short-sighted selfishness nearly cost everything she and Marc had spent years fighting for! ... Perhaps Taweret had already made her an offer by then. Or she had faith in Osiris to allow Marc's soul to return from the Duat after I had been freed. Feh, not a bet I would have placed...

Lucky her. Lucky humanity. I'd much prefer not to leave things up to luck again.

Sekhmet: Hey birdskull, tell me the name of 5 people you dislike, the reasons and I'll beat the sh out of them, for 3 bottles of beer

"... Sekhmet." He greets as neutrally as he can greet any god of his pantheon these days, though there is an edge of concern there. Whether it's for her or for what she might do is impossible to say. "Are you suggesting I can't beat the shit out of my enemies on my own power?"

No, she's suggesting she wants alcohol. (One would think she'd have an aversion to the stuff after what happened that one time...)

This whole trip was a testament to how... persuasive Jake could be, when he was determined. It was a useful trait of his for getting vengeance, and if Khonshu really wanted to stretch the definition, he could maybe call this vengeance. It would've been better if Harrow was restrained properly, perhaps held hostage in the trunk, but Jake was determined for this to be a 'fun' outing. Which apparently could not include tying up Arthur Harrow so he could be hung from the ceiling of their hotel and whacked with sticks like a piñata.

Pity. That sounded like Khonshu's idea of a great time.

"When I wish to be," Khonshu spoke, legs stretched out to take up a bulk of the back bench seat, crossed over one another. (He'd reluctantly move them if someone needed the space, though being corporeal around mortals took some getting used to. He somehow doubted anyone would be eager to sit next to Harrow anyway.) "My loyal avatar-- my dedicated avatar-- has requested you be a part of this outing. Who am I, as his god, to deny him when he has done such good work in my name? You will not spoil it, Harrow, as prone as you are to turning your back on my gifts."

Harrow's involvement aside, Khonshu hadn't concerned himself with much of the planning, so he wasn't sure what Jake had in mind, watching the map get passed. "I see all in the night-- what lies along every street. Paths to adventure lie everywhere." Cave systems, rivers for hiking and fishing, niche tourist traps. Places to eat that signaled they were open late with gaudy neon lights that blasted into the night. ... Or maybe Jake would drag them all along to a theme park, for a more typical sort of vacation.

[Jake tipped the rearview mirror down to survey his willing and unwilling accomplices in the back seat, smiling excitedly] Isn't this fun?? The whole family and Arthur in one place!

[This trip was clearly Jakes idea. Hastily thrown together after many, many years of begging and pleading. His love language truly was driving people around, though the appreciation for this gesture was debatable. He had his hand out the driver's side window, glove off playing with the wind. He looked almost... peaceful, in this state, if it weren't for the mischievous look in his eye.]

Oh I almost forgot! [He quickly pulls a slightly torn map from the glovebox, handing it over to the nearest person along with a pen] I've already circled some stuff, along with the hotel for tonight, but other than that our day is open! [He grins, shuffling through the only two songs on the newly created 'Jakes amazing road trip' playlist being Sweet Caroline and some horrendous Jazz]

So... [He quickly eyes the others] what are we thinkin?

"And yet here you are, circling my dining table like a carrion bird looking for a corpse. Go haunt someone else's kitchen."

"I was having a pretty bad day today. Luckily I have some vegan chicken strips to turn the day around - I have plenty to share, if anyone except Khonshu wants some."
