after the AS spread and consumed multiple facilities, NCR took it upon herself to start a project alongside some of her specialized citizens to learn about this new strain of rot and possibly find a cure. (cabin fever labs equivalent)

She collected a few infected slugcats, some with varying amounts of infections, and preformed tests on them. during one test, 002's mind was taken over by the AS similar to how Cyn was until 048 interfered and injected her with an (unfinished) antidote. The antidote stops the possession but the damage was already done as, while Nori was possessed, she had spread the rot across multiple of NCR's legs and caused her collapse.

obviously Nori, Yeva, Alice, and a few others survived the collapsed thanks to their rot controlling abilities, meeting up with a local slugcat colony and advising them to take to the underground to hide from the rot infestations above.
