some people deserve the world
Not the bad things. Duh, obviously.
Because the best can be drowned by the worst easily.
Like speaking for hours and saying nothing,
or humming a tune that you think you think you can’t sing.
They deserve parts that are special and pure,
parts that are beaming, without need for a cure.
Parts without lying. without cheating or mess.
Parts where all good, all things bright coalesce.
But what is light without dark, what is strength without failure?
without parts that are bad how can one learn to savour.
The best of the world, and all that he gives.
They must have patience; she must try to forgive.
Herself for the things she endured from the world.
The world who was cruel, and the world who had curled,
Her life in a leash, like a ray in a jar
with nowhere to swim. He’d stunted his star.
But the light was still there. Not gone, but obscured
by the darkness she fought for so long and endured.
What once was a wave was now a wall.
Any match, any flame. No light is too small.
She’ll find her. In time, she’ll open her eyes.
They’ll flicker, and burn, like a wave of sunrise.
They will burn, and they’ll burn till they stand. As a sun
not a moon of the earth. Dependent on one.
She’ll shine with the light that she finds, not which he gives.
and one day, I hope, the world she’ll eclipse.
The world lies alone and alone he’ll lie still.
He can't join the sun. He’ll never until
he can stop, take a breath, find peace in what is.
Not what has, or what will. He must love what is this.
She’s beaten the world, and the world can’t forget her.
She doesn’t deserve the world. God, she deserves better.
So, the world changes. In time, found anew.
The world will be better, so that, one day, I hope. Fuck, I do hope, that the world deserves you.
