the fact that the captain watched two women get married in the same fucking room he died in because he dared to harbor affection for another man. like. the fact that all the contact they got was the shared warmth of their hands and a first name. and now here, almost 80 years later, two women are kissing and dancing and loving and getting married. and living. are you listening..

Allow me to be cringe for a minute, but the ghosts being from completely different eras is soo important to me. Like they all come from different cultures, and yet they still care so deeply for one another, they dance together, they do silly little pantomimes, a caveman and tory mp play chess, a ww2 captain and a georgian woman have a father/daughter dymatic, despite how different they are, they share that they are all human, and that's what brings them together. It's about humanity, it's always been about humanity!

I had to cheat a little bit with the quote because the first picture was not a quote at all; it was some woman. So I had to choose the second one for an actual quote.

The painting is apparently "The Reluctant Bride/The Hesitant Fiancée" (1866) which is honestly a whole aro mood.
