very tired of this narrative that writers in this community aren't inclusive. joined a group accused of having cliques and guess what? the majority of writers were kind and welcoming. did indie a couple of times in the past with no prior connections and found new mutuals right away.

if you don't mesh with certain groups or writers that's ok. you don't have to be friends with everyone. but i do think some of you love to play victim when your own behavior is questionable at best. you feel lonely in this community but you only care about ships, you shamelessly face chase masculine characters, guilt trip writing partners when they don't reply fast enough, are lazy with replies and only give dry responses ooc...

Idk what popular opinion is on this but personally, I love Hong Hee Joo. I relate to her so much as a shy/reserved woman with a lot more thoughts and opinions than I am always able to express, in my case due to anxiety and being neurodivergent (LD). She’s different from those around her. She’s smarter and more resourceful than people think she is. She’s got incredible inner strength and loyalty. She can be quite bold and determined and will go to bat for things she cares about (her right to work, going into the lions den when her husband goes missing, etc). She’s also quite kind. And I think her relationship with Baek Sa Eon and the way she notices details about him is really cute and relatable too, especially as they learn to actually exchange intimacy and their relationship becomes rich and real. I certainly like bolder female protagonists, too, I’m thinking of unapologetic ladies like Hong Cha-young from Vincenzo — she’s genuinely so “cool” but in the end I just can’t relate as I’m an introvert and generally need to track lots of details and emotions, so I communicate more cautiously. I could never be like her and still “be myself” so it’s not particularly aspirational in my case. But Hong Hee Joo is different and I really appreciate the representation she provides. She’s not a doormat or weak like many other female protagonists out there who aren’t extroverted are often portrayed to be — even if outwardly people may assume that is Hong Hee Joo, it’s not. She’s reserved yes, but just behind that is a fierce strength. So yeah, I love Hong Hee Joo.
