Stakeout Homework

I’m sorry if this is hard to read on mobile or PC, I like doing page layouts for practice in case I decide to make my own graphic novel.

This took me 8 hours in total, from May 2 to May 4, after a period of really intense artistic self loathing. Thankfully, loathing has subsided! For now XD.

The most fun part to draw was the background in Panel one. I used to fear background, but I’m slowly starting to rlly like them!

Some cross-over/au details:

- All three boys are on season one of their respective shows, so Danny and Randy are 14 and Peter is 16

- This is Spectacular Spider-Man specifically (he’s my favourite)

- Danny and Randy go to the same school. Decided to mesh together Norrisville and Amity Park. Since Randy’s school is more relevant to his lore, I decided to keep their school as Norrisville High, while the city is Amity Park.

- They’re on a field trip to New York, where they met Peter.

I might make a follow up comic where Peter helps them with their homework. The lucky bastard is the only Smart Kid ™️ (afaicr anyways, I havent seen RC9GN in a while)

Ik that usually Jake Long is the third member of the trio, but I’ve never seen that show and Im a big TSSM fan, so yanno, wanted to build my own trio XD

I'm new to the Phandom, and was wondering who the heck is Wes? Did I miss an episode or something that he was mentioned in?

Basically. Wes Weston is this background character that appears for exactly one scene in the whole goddamn show.

He has no lines, he doesn’t do anything except stand and then run. He’s virtually the most useless character in the entirety of the Danny Phantom series.

The thing is, what the phandom realized, is that he has the exact same character model as Danny Fenton. He’s just a ginger instead.

They deadass took the MAIN CHARACTER’S model sheet, swapped the hair and eye colors, made him a lil taller, added a few freckles, and was like “yeah no one will notice this.”

Oh, but we did notice it.

So we were like “this is fucking hysterical” and all collectively—because, remember, what the hell even is canon in this show—that he was going to be a prominent character in fanon. And now he is.

His name, Wes Weston, comes from the class ring that Jack gives to Danny during the lil arc when he is dating Valerie. Jack engraves the ring with Sam’s name (because he thinks Danny’s dating Sam), and during a scene where Danny has to go chase after a ghost, he gives the ring to Sam to hold onto so he doesn’t lose it.

But then Sam holds the ring upside-down and so “Sam” on the ring becomes “Wes.”

The last name of Weston was just one of those, “Hey how dumb would that be if his name was Wes Weston?” “Lol that’s such a dumb fucking name I hate it.” “Ok it’s fanon now.” “Lmfao.”

So now Wes Weston needed a backstory. And because he looks exactly the same as Danny Fenton, and because we all know that Danny’s absolutely atrocious at keeping his double life a secret, fanon decided that instead of the town discovering that Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom, what if everyone just thought Wes was Phantom? Because, ya know, they look so similar? And Wes actually seems to have some athletic skill? (**See Edit for updated backstory)

And because it’s hilarious?

So that took off, where everyone thinks Wes is Phantom, and the A-listers think he’s super weird because he’s part ghost, and Wes is going out of his mind because he’s the only one (outside of the trio and Jazz) that actually knows that Danny is Phantom but no one believes him.

And oh man, does Wes try to prove it. He stakes out Fenton’s house, follows ghost attacks, brings cameras everywhere with him, but no matter how hard he tries, all his plans are foiled. Maybe a stray ectoblast breaks his camera, maybe all the pics he gets are super blurry, maybe Danny steals the memory chip from him—no matter what, Wes never gets proof.

And Danny? The general fanon hc is that he’s having an absolute fucking blast annoying the shit out of Wes with every chance he gets.

So yeah! Hope that helped! I fucking adore Wes as a phandom creation, and I’m glad his legacy has lasted all these years!

**EDIT: Over the years in phandom, Wes’s role in the series has changed from the people of Amity Park claiming that he is Phantom, to the people of Amity Park just regarding him as a crazy conspiracy theorist. Occasionally, the insinuation that “Wes is Phantom” is made, but it’s mostly seen sarcastically in phanon now. Wes has also been given a brother Kyle Weston who, as a foil of Wes, is a relaxed teen boy who does not believe in ghosts at all.

Cassette Beasts OC: Valentinus (Back)Story!

(Do I know how to translate Latin and I have a Latin dictionary? Yes. Did I for this? No, I did use google translate, so sorry if that’s wrong. I did not feel like writing Latin for this haha.)

Valentinus was found washed up from the ocean. Pensby and some try to figure out what he says, but have pieced together he fell off a ship going to (modern day) Spain. They can also tell from his attire he was a soldier, despite being no older than seventeen. They clocked him in the Second Punic War, mostly to how upset he got when he hears the name Hannibal.

He’s slowly learning the language, but at this point it is still a lot of guess work. He usually stays silent, giving simple, usually one worded, answers if he does understand.

He still wears his armor, but Eugene gifted him a jacket for Valens to wear.

Val is Ranger Level strong in combat, but hasn’t taken any sort of test due to not knowing how the process works or even what a Ranger is or does. He just knows how to fight and wants to contribute.

Valens ignores any questions he understands about his time in the Second Punic War, he seems hesitant and maybe even afraid.

Below are Val’s Thoughts on some of the other characters:

Kayleigh: neutral-friendly. He simply hasn’t gotten a lot of time to know her. Although he also wants to be a ranger like her.

Viola: Friendly, as they come from not similar but more close-in-time time periods. He’s apprehensive sometimes, as she asks him about his time in the Second Punic War and he doesn’t quite like talking about it…

Eugene: Friends! Although Val can’t understand him very much, they’re pretty close.

Barkley: who doesn’t like dogs?

Ianthe: Lots of respect, she’s extremely strong and powerful. Wants to become a ranger, although part of him doesn’t still understand what that fully entails. He wants to be active and help, and fighting is all he knows.

Gladiola: A mentor figure to him in monster battling, she likes to watch her techniques. She has taken him under her wing a bit, training him when he asks for help.

Pensby: Basic level of understanding, and doesn’t mind running errands for her to get supplies to make cures.

Felix: Friendly and Admiration, his animated Zotes confuse yet fascinate him!

Meredith: neutral, but a tad apprehensive simply based on vibe. He doesn’t dislike Meredith!! Simply a disconnect of time periods.

Misc:

- Clémence: Friendly and slight understanding, French is a Latin derived language after all! She got him to try a bunch of modern food. He especially loves chocolate.

- Skip: friendly admiration, they are a Ranger captain after all and was the first person Val met.

- Others: he’s pretty neutral towards most people.
