Someone should publish a pronunciation guide for bookish children with words like boatswain, victuals, epitome and so forth. It could probably just be a slim pamphlet, but it would save a lot of nerds a lot of embarrassment down the line.
#unusually i dont remember this being massive in my friend group at hs despite it being literally all booknerds who should have been doing#this. but i do remember one of my friends having trouble with 'omnipotent' & 'antithesis'. which make complete sense. i still have to#spell them in my head and concentrate on where to pronounce them to get them right.
