watching the X-Files is so funny to me bc it’s literally the most predictable thing ever. in this episode? let me guess, Scully’s gonna look after Mulder whos like a little puppy who won’t listen to anybody but her. the leash breaks and he sneaks into some sort of government lab, leading to the fact she has to come and bust him out with the excuse of he’s a silly little dog, don’t harm him please. if you harm him i will harm you. he’s like a replacement for poor Queequeg. tbf she’s also like a little puppy herself, just a lot fiercer and territorial. considering a collection of little episodes i get the large impression any girl who comes into his life after they are involved will be ripped to shreds.

i don’t know if this is a dynamic but if it is, it’s them. i love them.

I was thinking about what’s expected from girls when getting changed on a public beach. I love going to beaches, but I struggle with getting changed in/out of swimming suits because my kind of beaches are the really long, really open and busy kinds. But I’ve had many incidents when I’ve gotten snide little comments from the people around me, particularly men.

“why don’t you wear a bikini? are you not mature enough?”

“why do you cover up so much? it’s very un-feminine of you.”

“why don’t you show more of your body? you’re so pale, don’t you want a tan?”

“why don’t you just get naked to change? nobody’s watching you, and if someone is, they ain’t judging you.”

no, but they’re sure as hell gonna be turned on. I’m so sick and tired of girls of all ages being forced into what’s considered “beauty standards” to match the expectations of young men. no, I’m just here to have a swim and enjoy the beach and have fun. I’m not sorry that my body isn’t on display for you. I’m not sorry that I’m not distracting you enough, and I’m not guilty about it. I’m not here to be stared at like a fucking idol, I’m here to have a nice time.

anyone who’s pressured into doing something they don’t feel comfortable with, ignore them. You’re beautiful the way you are and you aren’t there to please anyone but yourself. If anyone’s been in a similar position or is currently experiencing it, don’t you dare feel guilty about not following through with anything and don’t you dare change anything about yourself, just know that men will be men but you will be a woman - and you have the power to your own voice. ❤️

It's been years and I'm still not over Scully crawling into Mulder's bed while clutching his shirt after he disappeared. It says so much, it's so intimate...

Overall, in that episode, and even in season 8 in general, Scully is seen soldiering on in the wake of his disappearance, which I find to be in character for her.

But we have this one scene that wordlessly tells you how devastated she actually is.

as my username suggests, my favourite episode is This Is Not Happening (S8 E14) and my favourite season is season eight, so I’m a huge supporter against the hate it gets. Which isn’t as much as it used to.

now, IMO, season eight is incredibly underrated but to an extent I understand the hate on it because it’s quite uncomfortable and even depressing to watch.

but I will NEVER, EVER, understand the hate on Dana Scully. I’ve seen plenty of people complaining she becomes too emotionally fragile, she never should’ve had her breakdown at TINH because it’s out of character, it’s BS she was still scarred during s9, ect…

sorry, haters, but I would like to protest that she is still incredibly f*cking strong. I mean, think about what she’s been through the whole show and her breaking point was only now? It makes her so, so human because every character deserves a point where they are never the same afterwards. She’s literally been through hell and back and she’s still standing and (maybe not as much as she used to) but heck, she’s still smiling. I would step as far as to say, “breaking point? What breaking point?” Because she’s almost exactly the same, only she cries a bit more and is a little less expressive in the humorous sense. She’s pregnant and she’s suffering from extreme grief and physical pain, even, (I’m looking at you Roadrunners), yet she’s still confident in the search for Mulder, she’s still badass and she’s still taking matters into her own hands.

she is OUTSTANDING, guys! And in season nine? She’s a single mother who’s had to cope with losing her lover AGAIN, (which maybe sparks some PTSD, but fair enough), protecting her child (which she eventually has to give up, making that decision even with the absence of the father) and balancing her tough job and whatever other sh!t.

I’m always gonna respect Chris Carter (assuming it was his choice) for what he did with her character arc, cos he made a pretty damn realistic character. And I’m always gonna respect season 8-9 Scully. FYI, this isn’t a hate post, I didn’t intend it to be. Anyone who disagrees, don’t take it wrongly, please, I’m just a fan sharing an opinion 😭🙏

I would LOVE Hunter Schafer to play Zelda in the live action. However, here are some other things I want in order for this movie to be a win in my eyes.

Link does not talk verbally. Let this be a non-speaking role for either a deaf actor, or a nonverbal actor. I need sign language.

Dark fantasy before silly comedy. I need it to be Game of Thrones, Lord of the rings style... with maybe a more family friendly spin- im thinking Labrynth or The Dark Crystal. No fart jokes, or I'll scream in the theatre.

Minimal CGI. Please, for the love of God, dont make the monsters CGI. At least not all of them. Give me Jim Henson style puppets! Again- like Labrynth or The Dark Crystal.

Recognizable villains and monsters. Dont make new monsters to fight, just because its a movie and you want to be different. I'd live for an on screen representation of one of the Ghomas!

If we're going to have Gerudo representation, it had better be done correctly. I need a team of at least ten feminist women to sit on the panel and make sure no atrocities happen when the male execs find out about the Gerudos whole shtick.

Anyway, that's my list. I think I've posted something similar before, but who cares? It's trending again, and I have opinions.

I was rewatching the hallway scene, right, and someone’s probably said this but do you guys ever just think that if Scully had never said “you don’t need me, Mulder, you never have. I’ve just held you back.” He would’ve never gave her that speech?

When she says that his eyes widen and he’s stunned, and in that moment he’s maybe thinking *oh my god, she doesn’t know.*

And maybe then he thinks that he has to tell her, and he does. He tells her that she makes him a whole person, that she’s kept him honest. That’s almost the same as him telling her that he loves her.

He’s astounded that she appeared to genuinely not know how he felt, and in that moment the only thing that was important to him was that she *knew* because he needed her to stay, he needed her with him.

Ignore me, I’m just constantly crying over them 😭🙏
