Dragon’s Writing Commissions OPEN ONCE MORE!

I need to make extra money for bills and food, so I’m opening up writing commissions! (Donations are also nice! Kofi link here or at the top of my blog.) DM me here (or @TheDragonLover on Twitter, or TheDragonLover#7325 on Discord) to discuss what kind of commission you want!

Examples:

Original fiction (slight modern-y fantasy, modern fantasy, bug world fantasy)

Fanfiction (FEA high school AU, FEF modern scifi AU, Horrortale post-pacifist, D&D character backstory, HK Queen Hornet AU)

I will write:

Original fiction (with client direction or at my creative liberty; OC and SI friendly)

Fanfiction (for series I’m familiar with, my DMs are open for any questions; AU, OC and SI friendly)

D&D narration and concepts (balance not included)

I won’t write:

Adult and child romantic relationships

Anything more than mildly suggestive

I may also decline a commission for other reasons. More information (current rates, process etc) can be found on my Ko-Fi! But with all that aside–

Helpful and Preventative Stretches for Writers, Artists, and Gamers 💪🎨✍🎮

If you type, write, draw, game, or generally use your hands a lot (especially if you’re prone to RSI or Carpal Tunnel!) try these stretches as both a preventative measure, and on the spot relief. Take care of yourself and your body, friends!

Start with hands up, fingers stretched out.  Stretch your thumb as far as you can over your palm. Hold and repeat 4 times.

Touch each finger to your thumb. Hold each for 30 seconds. Repeat on each hand 4 times.

Start with a fist. Open half way, hold for 2 seconds. Stretch fingers out, hold for 2 seconds. Repeat 4 times.

Start with one arm out, palm up. Pull your fingers back with your other hand. Hold for 10 seconds. Do the same with your other hand. Repeat 4 times

Start with arms up, palms out. Bend wrists down until you feel the stretch, but keep your fingers loose. Hold 10 seconds. Bend wrist upwards, until you feel it in your wrist and arm. Hold 10 seconds. Repeat 4 times.

Don’t worry, this isn’t a “I’m quitting” post, you can rest easy.

Sorry for a lot of radio silence! I know some of you are super excited to read more for the Waves series, and are waiting for arc two to come out. I’m excited too, I really enjoyed writing Light and I was ecstatic that others did as well! Your reviews and comments all give me life. I’ve danced in my kitchen a few times because of them.

We all know the events of the year 2020 has been difficult, so I won’t talk about all that. But I do want to admit that, a little before I started posting the first arc, I started writing and running a tabletop campaign for some friends - the same one I referenced in chapter one, actually. While I knew that would take up some time, I didn’t realize quite how much time until I lined it up on my schedule along with the two or three other tabletops I played in, my work schedule, my personal downtime, other non-writing projects, along with writing Waves... 

Yeah. I overloaded myself for a bit, which culminated in the delay towards the end of arc one. I was able to write at a semi-leisurely pace beforehand because I had no other big tasks requiring my time. Then the responsibilities I’d given myself started to add up and boy am I bad with math--

So for anyone afraid I might’ve died or given up, don’t worry! I’m still kicking! Since my last post about my progress, I’ve nearly finished the first draft of chapter five! But I can’t give a reliable time table of when the next one will start going up. I’m going into the meat of the plot, and I want to do it right. That involves untangling some plotholes and rewiring several things across all three routes, and then some, along with writing the fun stuff. I want the final product to be something I’m proud of that makes you all excited for that weekly email!

I’m still writing and running that campaign, but my schedule has cleared out a little. I’ve been trying to manage my time a little better now. Life is uncertain, but I know I’m not giving up on Waves anytime soon. I’m too invested in this damn thing - it’ll reach a conclusion somehow. I just ask for some patience.

And as a reward for said patience, I’ll post a sneak peek at my work-in-progress! So look out for that in the very near future!

It's funny, but also a legit writing tactic! No one will know that you wrote them out of order. What readers see is the finished product. Anything before that is your business.

I've done that quite a few times for Waves: Light, and others fics of mine.

You know when you can’t write that one scene and it’s stopping you from writing?

I give u full permission to skip that scene. Just skip it. Who cares?

Write the next scene! That ones way more fun any way.

🌟 When your OC loses all hope, who do they turn to first? What helps make them feel better? What calms them down and reassures them? Why?

☀️ What makes your OC genuinely happy? A person, an item, their hobby? Where is the place they’re happiest, or most at home? What is the happiest they’ve ever been?

🌙 If your OC could have one wish come true what would it be and why? Would there be consequences to this wish or would they regret it once they get what they want? What would they give in return for this wish to come true?

❄️ What makes your OC sad, so sad that they can’t help but cry all day? How do they cheer themself up? Does their sadness upset any of their loved ones too?

Browsing through more of my old art/doodles and I found this! Two attempts at designing a cover for my FE Fates fanfic, Waves: Light. The first has male and female Corrins, Azura and Takumi, and the OC/narrator, with a rat spirit summon weaving a ribbon between them all. The second is a shot of a table covered in various (symbolic) items, with the shadow of a hand over it.
