You have no idea how happy it made me to find this blog.

I've casually watched some of Tom Scott's videos for years, and today I randomly wondered which youtuber I watch has been on youtube the longest. It turns out it's not Tom, it's AmazingPhil (the Dan and Phil guy), but not by much - he and Tom both made their youtube account and their first youtube video in early 2006. AND they're both Brits of almost the same age.

So I thought, that's kinda funny, more similarities than I would have expected given that Tom has such a normal fanbase compared to the insanity that was and is the Dan and Phil fandom.

Then I looked on tumblr, and I found this. "Normal" my ass. You guys just hide it better, but deep down you're clearly also freaks, and that's beautiful to me.

and i love YOU random anon !! 🫵🫵 and yes i am very much aware that these two guys are almost the same age. they were in the same uni even for a couple of years (tom was the union president and also a pirate when phil was there. long story).

"normal my ass" lmaooo. well. i feel like both of these fanbases reflect the creators they are based on own attitudes ? admittedly i dont think ive ever willingly watched a dnp video in my life (said lovingly) but the impression i get is that they are unhinged individuals who openly encourage their fandoms insanity (ptsd flashbacks from the april fools pregnancy video i saw on my dashboard just yesterday.....). meanwhile tom "this persona is fictional" scott clearly puts effort into appearing Serious and Professional on his main channel. his style just kind of demands it and he obviously wants the serious educational people and institutions he works with to take him seriously which a lot of the time leads to people reacting with shock and bewilderment when they first watch his unscripted stuff and are suddenly face to face with the Truth !! which is that this man is crazy !!!!!! and so is (a subset) of his fanbase!!!!!!!!!! btw super glad to have you here anon, hope you enjoy your stay !!!!!!!!!!!!!! heres a lovely gif for you.
