( tom holland / twenty-one / he&him ) is that ( theodore caldwell ) ordering a ( white chocolate mocha ) at mocha? i heard they’re a ( paralegal ) who’s known as the ( polymath ) around here. however, they say ( theo ) is very ( pragmatic ), but ( headstrong ). well, better get their drink before it gets cold!

okie so first things first ,,ya boy’s full name is theodore dashiell caldwell but prefers the nickname of theo to those close to him bc it’s simpler and doesn’t like how proper it sounds ,,given in the public sphere he’s known by his full name but only those who get the Seal of Approval get to call him teddy,,, he was born in brooklyn, new york to virginia caldwell ( the current united states ambassador to the united nations and ex-chief executive officer of greenpeace ) and quentin caldwell ( current new york senator and democratic whip minority leader in congress )

while v democratic and liberal in beliefs, theo was always v uncertain about following a path that strayed away from what his parents expected of him since both are v established in the political world so theo always felt like he had to put forth this perfect appearance of himself so he was worthy to be boasted about by his parents to colleagues and political opponents alike with his academics, accomplishments, etc.

due to him being brought up in the public eye as his parents built their respective careers ( lowkey trash in viewing his parents as frank and claire underwood but with more chill rip ), theo didn’t have many friends so partly as a way to give him a hobby to pursue outside of school and to meet new friends, his parents signed up a 5 year old theo for language lessons and a soccer lessons ,,,u know ,, lil kid things ,,, so it’s here that begins theo’s love for languages bc he’s a nerd and a bit of a polyglot but as of now he’s fluent in italian, spanish, french, german, russian and latin ,, ur boy is currently learning arabic and mandarin

being raised by his parents meant that theo was brought up with the caldwell ambition and hard work ethic, believing in order to succeed you must work hard for what you want and that change can only be made in the world if you fight enough for it. this transferred over to theo’s academic standing who worked to keep up his 4.0 gpa


for real though,,,theo was the kid in all ap classes and managed to seem effortlessly cool but also was a giant ass nerd ?? ask him about harry potter, star wars or marvel ( bring up dc to him and he will rant off on why marvel is better ) and he’ll sure as hell have a vocal opinion ( don’t get him started on hp,,,snape was a bully and can choke,,,while draco is his fave that he’ll defend forever )


on top of him being a raging nerd, he was also a big activist while in high school and was that kid handing out flyers for an upcoming protest to the school board demanding for healthier school lunches and fair prices for such since the unhealthy options were much cheaper, and standing on cafeteria tables for change in school policies


at the time he was a smol in the local private catholic school so he often got beat up from the sports teams ( i’m just a lil emo picturing tom is the school uniform and internally crying nbd ) for protesting school fundings being unfairly distributed, more often than not benefiting the sports teams rather than the drama department, the art department or even better academic resources


im gettin emo thinkin of lil theo and lil tom wearing uniform blazers and being a lil politician in the making  r…ip me,,but yes so he graduates valedictorian and accepted into princeton as a politics major of which theo had to nearly threaten his dad not to donate money for a new library to sway his acceptance

it’s during theo’s time at princeton that he truly begins to find himself and grows more confident ??? gone are the days of string bean theo and bada bing bada boom enter tom’s spider-man physique bc theo starts taking more care of himself and just v self assured in his place in the world and just wanting to help people and make a change ?? for now he just wants to make a difference as a lawyer and maybe work for the state and maybe down the line turn political ,, but he’s debating whether to go aim toward corporate, constitutional law, or international humanitarian law

since the past few years in college have been super !!! especially throwing in helping out his parents with appearances, stress of keeping up his grades, and generally running off of caffeine and the determination of elle woods ,, theo is taking a year or so off to steady himself but he got an internship position at baker & mckenzie law firm here in chicago as a paralegal to get some experience in the field before going off to harvard law ,, plus his dad has connections that may have tilted the scale in theo’s favor for the job but theo is a bit ,, naive in his optimism 

overall though theo is the least bit pretentious person and is a p chill dude,,,understands his privilege and knows that not everyone is born into money like his family is,.,, loves helping people and just wants the world to be a better place ??? v openly liberal in terms of political beliefs and 10/10 would fight donald trump and jeff sessions in a heartbeat do it for the vine


likes to think he’s kinda cool but don’t let him fool u he is a Nerd ,,,will probably rant off to u about harry potter and why draco malfoy is not only the best character but why he and the slytherin house are done dirty and snape can choke ,..also list an abundance of reasons as to why he will defend tony stark until the end of his days ,,,also probably has a collection of iron man comics and harry potter wands bye

his sense of humor is the worst i swear legit it’s all pop culture references with a mixture of shitty puns and jokes beware ,, he’s extremely level headed though and knows how to make good decisions, pragmatic as shit but can often lead to him being very over-analytical and dwelling on things too much

v charismatic and loves talking to people,,,and this isn’t a personality trait,,,well maybe considering he’s fashionable as shit and loves cardigans and button down shirts and chelsea boots,,,but also loves to be casual in joggers and a light shirt,,,but his fave designers are paul smith, ted baker and givenchy

       amusement was Q U I C K to flicker across his features at the brunette’s words before his gaze dragged across the room despite having no real clue who he was actually supposed to be on the look out for. “who’s your brother so i know who to keep an eye out for ??” theo asked, chocolate hues stopping on the tray of donuts and a grin appearing on his face as he looked at the woman beside him. “hey, donuts are DELICIOUS so i say if you binge today and don't have any for the following week or so then i think you’re in the C L E A R. but be sure to save one for me, yeah ??”

“have you seen my brother around? because i’m planning on eating a whole dozen of these before he sees me and starts lecturing about diabetes.” aisha quickly took a bite of a donut, looking around to make sure mcdreamy was nowhere in sight.

kai had met theo at a protest and, if kai was being honest, they couldn’t remember what it was for. but, still, they’d met someone that shared their same interests and that was enough for them. at a time in their life when they felt they were powerless, kai needed theo to remind them that they weren’t. after grabbing their iced coffee from the counter, the name on the cup reading ‘kye’, they sat down at a table by the window and waited for their friend, counting each passerby as if they were counting down the seconds until their friend arrived.  

       if theo had to D E C I D E on some of his favorite activities, hands down protests or rally were high up on his list. just being around likeminded people who shared the same PASSION for a change in the political climate on certain issues. the environment was one he thrived in, loving the electric feeling in the air that still sticks with him from his first protest that he attended with his father. not to mention the friendships that were made with others in attendance -- that was how he met kai. it had been a bit since they had last seen one another but they shared common interests and ideologies that C E M E N T E D into a friendship. fast forward to theo stepping past a woman focused on her smartphone before entering mocha to meet with the brunette; making sure to have his order in his hand then making his way over. “what’s up my dude ??” theo exclaimed in greeting, a smile appearing on his features as he sat across from them and flashed him the wrong name on his cup. “apparently my name taio now so i think taio cruz may have some competition soon.”

                    it wasn’t his ideal way to drink, but he was having fun with the other male so far so he stabbed the bottom of the can and cracked open the top - chugging back the cold beer in a few seconds. once he had finished he tossed the can to the ground and belched, a hiccup following immediately after. “my oh my, that was not okay. haven’t done that since i was a senior in high school,” he admitted with a shrug, looking to the other and trying his best to focus his eyes on them. “don’t worry i’m not even drunk i swear. i can walk in the straightest line. i bet i could even say the alphabet backward,” he rambled in a drunken haze. “Z-Y-X-T-U-P…. wait.”

       for as much as theo enjoyed drinking, it was something he S P A R S E L Y participated in considering his days now consisted of eight hour shifts starting at eight in the morning. so not only did days have to align well for him but it also DEPENDED on his plans the day after and if nursing a hangover was manageable. hence why theo found himself nursing his mojito instead of necking four sour apple martinis like he had done a week prior at the mocha halloween party. his hangover the day after still lingered as an afterthought in his mind and theo wasn’t sure if he could physically handle going as hard as the brunette beside him. “oi !! not too bad though and you didn’t spill much.” theo replied with his own laugh, grinning over the glass of his drink. a snort was Q U I C K to pass through his lips at the other’s antics and he shook his head. “well hopefully the walking is one you can smash out the park since it’s more likely you’ll need to walk than sing the alphabet backwards.” theo paused before grinning. “if you ever wanna compete in the alphabet thing then i’ll take you on a CHALLENGE.”

       if there was one thing theo P R I D E D himself on it was his sense of style and general knack for being able to test his limits when it came to fashion. the generalization of fashion being considered feminine was one he ACTIVELY pushed back against considering wasting to dress nicely shouldn’t be confined to some bullshit assumption made by those ignorant few. REGARDLESS, the smile that bloomed on his features at charlotte’s words only widened in the passing moments as a light pink hue flushed his cheeks in both excitement and humility. “the fact that you even think that -- WOW -- thank you ?? but also .. can i record you saying that so i can rub this in hayden’s face when i see her so she knows i know how to dress myself.” theo joked with a chuckle passing through his lips before grinning back over at charlotte. “i mean -- i own a lot of adidas sneakers so you probably could buy a lot of them !! but if you want, i can take you on a miniature shopping spree and it could be like that episode of that’s so raven where raven gives that guy a complete makeover.”

though religion wasn’t necessarily a topic that cherie dabbled in, it was as if god herself opened up the gates of heaven when the familiar ‘mon cheri!’ rang out in the nearby vicinity. her head immediately snapped in the direction of the voice and once her mahogany eyes rested on theo’s face, a wave of relief washed over her. the tension in her shoulders immediately let up as he rattled off a story for his delay, garnering the attention of nearby tables that’d been sneakily pitying her from the distance before averting their eyes. leaning across the booth’s table, her hushed tone whispered,  ❝ you are a godsend. i’ve been sitting here for an hour, sucking down all the free bread. ❞ tucking the nail of her index finger beneath the rim of the bread basket, she lifted it slightly to display its empty contents.  ❝ tell me… how bad did it look? like a baby dolphin struggling to breathe out of water or… worse? i don’t know how much worse you can get after ‘baby dolphin’ status. ❞ dropping the basket onto the table, cherie’s dark brows furrowed after processing his earlier statements.  ❝ wait, is the vespa thing true? because that would’ve been the lamest way to go out: death by vespa.  ❞

       the I N S T A N T look of relief that took over cherie’s features made theo all the more sure in his decision to save his friend from the horrible experience of being judged by the retired elderly couples who seem to THRIVE in diners during the day. which -- did they ever leave because if that’s what theo had to look forward to when he aged then he could think of a worst fate as opposed to tuna salad sandwiches. chocolate hues brightened at the sight of cherie but his smiling features dimmed once she mentioned how long she had been sitting there. “an H O U R ?!” theo asked incredulously, eyes w i d e n i n g momentarily before flickering over to the bread basket in question.”what the hell ?? alright, who am i beating up ?? who’s gonna be catching these hands tonight ??” theo’s sour expression soon softened as cherie spoke again and he leaned forward, forearms resting against the coolness of the tables surface so their conversation was confined just to their ears. “uh --- maybe like shamu  level ?? but if anything, the pity that carol and george over in the corner were feeling probably shifted into thinking i’m an asshole. so there’s that to consider as a consolation prize.” he admitted, a chuckle passing through his lips before sneakily moving cherie’s glass of water toward him and stealing a sip of it through the supplied bendy straw. “now that part is not a LIE. i almost got killed by an americanized paolo !! but if i’m not getting killed in a cool way by like -- a G H O S T or something then i’d rather it be by vespa.” theo paused and twisted to his around to see where the nearest waitress was before looking back at cherie. “but real talk -- what are we ordering ?? or what does this place do good ??”

       his day was taking a S U D D E N turn that he didn’t realize he needed from just how busy the firm had been the whole afternoon. filing was getting him antsy with how isolated he felt from being in the same room for majority of his morning despite being surrounded by other legal assistants. so to say that hayden’s appearance was appreciated would be an understatement. “you know, i’m flattered that you’re asking for my opinion but we both know that sushi is the set decision already.” theo teased lightly and sent a smirk over to the brunette by his side as he slipped his hands into the pockets of his suit trousers. “oh -- OF COURSE. how’d you know that you were my favorite talking point ?? so what is it today ?? ralph lauren, ted baker or moschino ??” his grin widened as the two began to weave through the crowd on the sidewalk.
