here's crindys- crindy! we haven't talked much, but I see you as a really awesome presence around the server. you always seem to contribute to how open and safe and vulnerable this chat is and that is such a valuable contribution. i love how your fics are all so open and honest and beautiful interpretations of the characters. I loved Apprentice and it really sums up to me your approach to canon, in terms of really analysing the characters and their motivations and thinking about the real life effects of their experiences, which sometimes doesn't happen. the scene that really stuck with me is the one where Taako holds something out for Lup to grab unthinkingly, but of course she isn't there. It was like a little light bulb for me in that I hadn't really considered how his subconscious would react to the loss of Lup. so that was a really awesome thing you opened my eyes to, and that just shows you how powerful your fic can be. I love seeing your cereal emoticon around, it always gives me a little grin, and like I said before, you have a way of making people feel so comfortable in the chat that I think is incredible. you are such a beautiful presence and I hope you never forget it and here's riddicks- rids, we haven't talked all that much, but I love seeing your snaps on the snap group, both your face (and your killer makeup) and the beautiful horses!!!! your fics are so incredible, like renegades is such a beautiful story, and the way you write has such a rhythm to it. when I see you around on the chat I always know you're going to bring such a good vibe, either with goofs or sometimes with more serious conversations, making sure everyone is comfortable and supporting everyone so much. like that's such a valuable thing to be able to do. the chat wouldn't be nearly as good with your lil apple icon hanging around!!

Every since you joined the discord I’ve been blown away by your endless support and love for everyone there; you feel the good feelings channel with so many kind thoughts, and I’ve seen the way you reach out to those having a bad day. I’ve been a fan of your writing since the first time I read “Bad Luck,” which was long before we ever got the chance to chat. It continues to be one of my absolute favorite fics of the fandom; your creativity with the au makes the introduction of every familiar character so exciting. Your tiny Taako is one of my favorite Taakos; he’s written so genuinely and convincingly as a young child, I’m always amazed how well you manage to capture that perspective. I love his love of loops, and his attachment to his umbrella, and his love for Angus! (I waited with fearful anticipation for the fallout of the funeral and Taako being left at daycare for the first time!) One shining light of memory that stands out from the rest is the Adam Abingdam Incident, in which Adam Abingdam was brought into our lives through a typo and promptly earned a place in our hearts. I had so much fun with that conversation, and I’m very proud of my Adam Abingdam role - not just because it’s a silly goof, but also because it’s a reminder of a really fun day that I wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t met you in the discord! Your writing is absolutely phenomenal. I’m not entirely caught up on your longer work (it’s destined to be consumed in one day very soon), but I’ve seen lots of snippets of your writing on tumblr and you never fail to amaze. Hey Joss, it’s appreciation time! I hope you’re having a lovely day, week, month, and year! It’s a delight to have you on the server, I’ve loved the opportunity to participate in conversations with you! I’ve really enjoyed the fics of yours that I’ve read - I appreciate the emphasis on the relationship between Kravitz and Lup in “Too long a wait” which I wish was explored more by the fandom. I’ve thought a lot about the fact that Lup can’t physically touch her family until her body is returned to her and the struggle that must present to her, especially after spending so long in the Umbrastaff. I’d never considered that Kravitz might be able to provide that comfort to her; what a great way to show them connect as part of a family! Something that really demonstrated how much Lup is struggling is the idea that she can barely smell the food - knowing how much cooking with Taako meant to her, and how close she is without being able to interact is a great way to symbolize how Lup has been freed but is still at a distance from her family. I also read your fic “Here Is a Heart” and I just love the sweet scene of a Candlenights celebration. The angst and hurt/comfort fics are nice, but sometimes it’s such a refreshing change to see a fic that’s just happiness and good feelings. I loved the mix-up over the proposal! It was hilarious and absolutely something I could see happening with those characters. What I especially loved was the dialogue - everything was wonderfully in character. I loved this bit from Lup: “I swear to god if you do anything on our bed I will literally murder you Taako. You will make your sister cry. I will cry as I kick your ass, Koko, do you want that?!” Taako’s callback to “fully realized creation” made me laugh too - what a good, feel-good fic! I hope you feel super appreciated, and I can’t wait to see you again in the server!

Hey Rory, appreciation time for you as well! I hope you feel absolutely as appreciated as you deserve to feel - the server wouldn’t be the same without you! What I really like about your writing is how you write the twins together! The premise of “The Young and the Hopeful” is really intriguing to me, especially since I’m particularly interested in the idea that the family perhaps preferred one twin to the other (which makes the twins running away together all the more meaningful). I loved the way you wrote them taking care of each other when their parents didn’t care for them evenly; their relationship is so strong from the beginning, and something I especially liked was that even Taako, who has the worst treatment, resents the way Lup is treated. Even as children they know who really loves them. I also really enjoyed your fic “Alone Together” - I don’t know if the title is taken from the title of the Fall Out Boy song, but if it is it’s a very fitting choice! I really liked your descriptions of Lup as fire and Taako as ice - it’s so fitting both to their personalities and their magic. Especially Taako, whose magic is transformative like ice melting and reforming. You carried the theme well through the fic, showing them at their extremes without each other. I really love the idea of the twins finding their own way through magical education, and the advantage that their experience gives them - their creative thinking that helped them survive also helped them qualify for the IPRE mission, and I love that. You also hit me right in the heart with this line “When he stared at a fire, trying to get warm in the cold winters, he always felt odd.  Like there was a part of his chilled heart that longed to be warm again, that craved heat and hated the ice that covered it.  He hated it.” It’s such a small thing to remind him of his sister, and that makes it hurt so much more! I hope you’re having a fantastic day, and I hope we can talk more very soon!

oss!  I don't really interact with you a lot, since I've kinda been lurking on the server lately whoops, but whenever I have talked with you, you've always been so nice!  Also, I can't believe I've never read your fics before, that was an absolute travesty because they're fantastic and I've now binge read all of them.  Long Live The Queen has me completely hooked, I am in love with your characterization, and the fact that Kravitz has talked to both Taako and 'Edward' and has such different opinions of them is perfect.  I actually haven't read many TAZ royalty au's, even though I love them, but yours just feels unique and I can't wait to see where it goes!  Also uhhhh.....Fuck Sazed lmao, but that's a given. And Too Long A Wait had the Kravitz and Lup bonding that I had been seriously craving lately, its so sweet and I was smiling the whole time I read it.  Reading Lup be so vulnerable because she just misses being held....that's gonna be a fic I go back and re-read a lot.

One morning I woke up and you liveblogged taz to me so much tumblr gave up on trying to tell me how many messages you sent and it was fucking wild. If you asked me which of your fics was my favorite I’d have to say The Odd Ones cause I love literally everything about it. I look up to you so much and whenever you tell me I write good I feel a bit more validated in my executive dysfunction hellscape. I’m still reeling over that namedrop you wrote like seriously it hit me like a train on train steroids. I’m so glad I met you and I can’t wait until we finally meet and I can finally cash in on all those shin kicks I promised you. Hey Jalexy! It’s been a lot of fun seeing you around on the writer’s discord! Thanks for giving boom and me ways to customize the server to maximum non-readability – I’m sure we’ll use that information in totally responsible ways and not at all for fun and goofs. Your ideas for the potential Pacific Rim au were great – you mentioned that you like to make connections between the different stories and that’s one of my absolute favorite parts of coming up with aus. We should talk more about aus sometime! I love them so much, come and talk and share this au pit with me. (Then we can trick other people into writing them.)

I read your fic, “Raise and get Razed” and it was wonderful! I really like that you took a look at what necromancers might be beyond very goth and hiding out in caves; those are fun too, but the necromancers in your story are original and interesting! I love the idea of average people getting creative with a dark form of magic for relatively innocent reasons – I never would have considered a person using necromancy to help their farm, but asking a parent for advice using plants as a sacrifice are excellent ideas.

I think my favorite part, though, were the pun names and Lup’s reaction to them! I have no idea how you came up with so many but that entire section where the group is being asked for their names was wonderful. My absolute favorite line is this: “B- Buddy- Buddy Corpse? His name’s Buddy Corpse. It’s- it’s ironic how he- he died really c- cause I can admit that it sounds like bloody corpse but th- that’s his real god given name.” (Poor guy, how did he never notice this trend?) Lup going back to retrieve the bodies just so she could see if their names were also puns was hilarious and absolutely something Lup would do. Poor Kravitz is trying to be professional and Lup and Barry aren’t helping; it’s a mess and a delightful peek into their dynamics together!

Thank you for sharing this work and some wonderful experiences on discord, and I hope we can talk again soon! I hope you feel every bit as appreciated as you deserve to be!

I’ve also read your fic “Do You Remember Me?” that you’re collabing with hyperInactive, and I am so excited to see where you two go with it! I’m incredibly fond of aus, and especially those that explore what might have happened differently in the story with even a slight change. I really love the idea of Lup getting out of the Umbrastaff early, and this is the first time that I’ve seen it explored with Lup leaving the Umbrastaff during the Rockport Limited arc. (While I was reading I hoped that the au aspect was going to be Lup being freed early, but I was not expecting it to happen in that moment! I had to stop and try to remember if that was how the fight went down - and then the crab snapped the staff and I had a great “oh shit” moment.) That’s such a unique opportunity! Lup has the chance to see what’s happening on the moon base and react to it, but is also able to more obviously interact with events of the story in a way that she couldn’t in canon. There are so many possibilities here! I’m not sure what you’re planning with the rest of the fic, but there are several arcs filled with potential and I’m so excited to see where you go with it!

What I especially liked in the fic - something else I haven’t seen before - is Lup refusing to believe that her brother would have forgotten about her. There are a number of fics that explore Lup learning things from inside the umbrella, and in most of them she figures out almost immediately that Taako has forgotten everything, including her. I love the difference of, despite all of the evidence that might hint otherwise, Lup doesn’t believe it. (And the moment on the train when she wonders if Taako stopped looking for her after a couple of years broke my heart - she’s not angry, but she never would have stopped looking for Taako.) That’s such a realistic way to portray that realization; it’s the one thing that Lup refuses to accept until she absolutely has to, and that gives her moment of realization so much more impact. I’m very excited to see what you do with both this and other fics in the future!

"Jalexy, the apprecaition zone has led me to your Ao3 and i have never been more greatful. 'Raise and get Razed' was hilarious and all round a wonderful short read! Also the setting of the barn, and their reason for summoning (pumpkings, the first instinct when pumpins arn't growing is ask a demon. im.)  was great?? I loved it. The lup feels are so heavy in this one, and I can assure you I'll be binging the entire fic sometime soon. Cool. Well I would like to say that I read some of her fics and that her strongest skill, one I really envy, is her ability for description! It’s really easy to picture what she’s saying and it’s all so real seeming. Honestly it’s an amazing skill and makes her writing great in a way that keeps my attention and I just assume everyone else’s

Their angst is absolutely A+ and their tumblr has the perfect balance of fandom v memes, and i enjoy following them v much (although I don't understand their homestuck references, which i assume are very funny based on other experiences). They're a warm and funny presence on the discord, which is mainly how I know them, and they're always around to chat or to help generate Horrible Ideas. They are eminently quotable and the discord would be an emptier place without them.

Ive got my addition! Ive read and reread your gift for candlenights sooo many times!! I love your works, but that one in particular was so funny i was dying! Badass dysfunctional reaper squad is the absolute best, and I love how you write them! You’re a ton of fun to have in the chat, from the thousands of cursed jean jokes that get dropped to the fun ideas tossed around (even in the dangerous waters of the homestuck tag). Stay cool!!

Raise and get Razed was one of the funniest TAZ fics I've read!! Barry is a nerd, the characterization was spot-on, and the sheer amount of puns... I kept laughing through the entire thing! Also, I love your blog and blog theme,, it's so soft and nice to look at.

I hope this isn't too late but for galaxies good good feels thing I wanted to say that I knew them in the McElroy party server and they've always been extremely fun to be around and just a joy to be near. they always have soft, fluffy ideas that they execute beautifully, it's good enough to be published as a children's book, and honestly, their ideas are great for when you just want to unwind with a warm and fluffy story.

Time To Appreciate the Shit out of Alex!  Like, ok, you are just so good???? im giving up on anonymity here, you're gonna know its me by what I say.  If I tried to be vague and anonymous, I wouldnt be happy with what I said.  (Also this is gonna be super sappy bc i have two modes: Angst and Sap, and this sure as hell isnt gonna be the former).  Anyway, you are so much fun to write fics with.  Like, hands down I would write endless amounts of stories with you bc you have such good ideas, constantly.  Half the time our brainstorming is me sending you an idea that I think is decent but not that great, and then you sending back an idea that is just So Damn Good.  Your story ideas are super original too, and they're stories that if I saw them in a bookstore i would buy them in a heartbeat because I've seen nothing really like them.  And your writing never fails to make me laugh, because you just have this way of adding humor to stories that doesn't seem forced at all and I'm convinced its a whole different art form because I could never be as funny as you when I write.  And then, when the humor is super obvious in the writing it doesnt even feel wrong or clunky in any way it's just hysterical.

Your writing style is just so unique and I could read it forever.  Youve been one of my absolute Best Friends for four years now, and you've motivated me to write so much, I can never repay you for all the ideas youve given me and the beta-ing help and the brainstorming we've done that most of the time turns into us making jokes about Everything.  Do You Remember Me is one of my favorite things to write, and thats largely thanks to you.  You're just so supportive of all my writing, no matter what it is, and I hope that I'm doing a good job in return because honestly?  I think one of the reasons I'm so intent on making that fic perfect is because I want to make you proud?  You're just a huge inspiration to me and I really want you to be happy with the fics we make together.  And you'd better know that when you publish your first novel, I'll be the first one to get a copy because its gonna be amazing! Taako Is Dead But It’s Not Sad Anymore was inspired by your post in response to an ask, and it was my first piece of writing for taz and the first ever writing I ever felt confident enough to publish. Your memory loss Taako post inspired some of my now solid headcanons about the IPRE after Story & Song and all of your other writing is just so good I love every bit I read of it. You’re an excellent writer, a wonderful person, and the reason I got into writing and thus even joined the server in the first place. Hey blue! I love seeing you around the server! I feel like we always have some great and funny conversations, and it’s always great talking to you! And you were a really good sport about that whole us torturing you until you agreed to write the Alice AU thing, soooo… you’re pretty cool! my things for blue - heck i'm lov you??  like i originally followed you on tumblr a while back bc of those long headcanon train posts you'd do and i just fell in love with all of your writing!  seeing you being comfortable with sharing your ideas and adding to other people's ideas helped give me the confidence to be more comfortable doing the same.  also your ascension au is literally one of my favorite aus in the fandom and i could read about it for hours!  and finally, just you in general?  you're super nice and chill and always a delight to talk to!

Blue writes such a good Lup and such a good Taako that it makes me want to reach through my screen and grab their faces in my hands bc they feel so real.  Her fic 'Still There' just....really felt so in character that I just want to accept that as canon for how the twins dealt with the memory crap.  Taako and Lup are so important to me and their relationship is so important to me, and that fic especially just feels so right and I can imagine that sort of thing continuing for years before the dual memories settle.  I can Read That Fic Forever, its one of my favorite Twin Fics ive ever read.  In the chat, Blue always seems to be online (i cant tell if she doesnt sleep or if its just me haha) and she just feels so easy to talk to.  I could say that about the whole server tbh but Blue especially.

my thing for kit&sofia: i don't you know you very well but every time you're on you have something nice to say!!

Ok so their lup and taako system au was really good and they were so nice and kind in helping the rest of the server understand more sensitive things regarding the subject, they have some incredible ideas and suggestions (like that au in particular), and they're always very nice and welcoming when they're online. But Thinking Makes it So proves theyre really good at grasping and handling second person, which is incredibly difficult but damn they just,,,nailed it. And there's this gorgeous use of repititon with the phrase "you do not" throughout the entire piece as the things lucretia can't do get larger and larger until those three words at the start of a sentence have so much weight and meaning to them. Great understanding of sentence variation and other hard but important little rules of writing-theyve got such skill combined with great imagination and creativity!!!  "You do not sleep enough anymore to have nightmares. Instead, you work." is also one of the most powerful and in character lines for Lucretia I've read in a long time. Like damn not only is it gorgeous but that's HER! THATS LUCRETIA ADVENTUREZONE!

in your fic "but thinking makes it so" the repeating theme of Lucy wanting to save the world and then this: "You help, but you do not save the world.",, fuuuuuuck. fuck! just fuck me up. It's so so good. I really love how you split the fic into parts, with at the end of each section having Lucretia going forward, failing or not.

I enjoy getting to talk to you on the server so much, and I am so looking forward to your future projects! (I’m sure you know which one I’m talking about, and let me know if you have any more thoughts about it because I am already invested – what a fantastic idea for a story, I can’t wait to see where it goes! You are already making me feel some feelings, which is a good sign for lots of good emotions to come.) Your writing is so lovely; I love what you did with the second person perspective in “but thinking makes it so.” Lucretia’s feelings are immediate and so real, and the perspective makes it so easy to understand her thoughts as a reader. You mentioned Lucretia condensing libraries into her journals, and that’s an idea that encompasses so much of the feeling of loss that comes after the IPRE leaves a world behind – they lose so much every single time. And the part where Lucretia thinks “I have to keep going. This can’t be for nothing. I have to save the world.” is so powerful. That’s the desperation that keeps her going, all by herself – this can’t be for nothing. All of that sacrifice has to mean something. That thought is so lonely, and so very much something Lucretia would feel. It hurts to know how much she needed her plan to work; you did such a wonderful job capturing that feeling. I also really loved the way you shift between time in “as the tide” – it shows such a lovely comparison of the differences in this relationship, how it changes with the changes between Magnus and Lucretia. That’s such a fitting title, too, because the description of their relationship during Stolen Century is one of my favorite parts of the fic – “But when they are lonely, or stupid, or both, they come home to one another’s arms. Like waves, it’s in the push-and-pull that their love works.” That’s a beautiful line, and a beautiful way to describe the relationship, especially since the structure of the fic follows that idea – a push and pull over time, farther and closer but never entirely apart. Always finding each other again, through everything. I am so impressed by the way you tied the entire story together with this theme; it’s excellent and I can’t wait to see what you write next! Thank you for your kindness, friendliness, and thoughtfulness; I hope you have a lovely day and feel as appreciated as you should!

some things abt the positivity for kit/sophia!  i don't remember which of them it was but they helped give me a bunch of links to musicals when i asked and it was super kind and helpful and i really appreciated it!  also kit doing those character sheets for people in chat was really fun and sweet and something they didn't need to do.

Like, it ripped my heart out and stomped on it a few times, but you know, in a good way. You captured Lucretia’s struggle and loneliness very well. And those last few lines? Damn those hit hard.
