I confess I find the "Kristoph Gavin was always evil and manipulative and ultimately bad" headcanons/stories not very compelling. I can see the merit in expressing those themes sometimes but as someone who has close bonds with my siblings, the love you have for them can be devastating, and being able to explore that juxtaposition of knowing someone at their best, worst and ultimately that love born from protecting and having each other's back over a lifetime being betrayed is much more interesting. A Kristoph who is just Evil, smiling softly and saying he killed a man because he is evil, just doesn't hit as hard as a Kristoph who has loved but betrayed not just his brother's trust but also his own morals due to his own shortcomings, truly believing he is Evil and smiling softly about it. Like. The two barely compare. Kristoph can he controlling but show me how he used it to protect others and not just himself!!! Where is the love and messy humanity????
