As somebody who made "Ianthe is forcemasc'd by Babs" jokes in the past: yeah I agree.

Ianthe has this weird thing going on where everything she does/is is concluded to be the product of something else. She is this way because of her sister (is partly true) she is masculine because of Babs (might be slightly true but she was kinda like that before it.

I don't mean she is not affected at all. But sometimes the weird Ianthe stuff is just Weird Ianthe Stuff. She was like that from the beginning.

I don't know, that may be a personal thing but something about the "Ianthe is forced masc" thing makes me deeply uncomfortable. Because I do not think (and I may be wrong) it's true. I feel like, now that we know Ianthe is melting together with a *man* everything "masc" on her is tried to explain with Babs, without even thinking about if it couldn't simply be her actual personility. I for example do not think she wears white shirts and black leather pants because of Babs. It's nothing he would ever wear, because, to quote Corona, he looks awful in white. Also it's simpler than anything we ever see him wear. We portray Ianthe in such clothing since Always and I really think it's just character development because nothing she wears before fits her. Honestly, I do not not think he is a very masculine man either. He is pricky. He cares for his personal hygene. (I know men do that, I mean the amount of it with the pomade and so on and he definitely uses perfume in my head.) He is a little diva (affectionately). If I had to guess what's him in The Unwanted Guest I would assume he's in the open buttons of Ianthe's shirt. We never see her show of her bust size (in my rememberance) but he strikes me as a guy who'd like to open his shirt to reveal his upper body parts, especially if there's anything to show. I don't know, maybe it's because I know many women who are like Ianthe Tridentarius (and really, I think she's never been more "masc" than in the first book) without being possesed by the soul of a man in reallife, and to be perfectly honest, I'm uncomfortable with gender questions over international borders, because I feel like, those things are different for any country anyway... But yeah, I wanted to say that once, maybe anyone can understand that
