Note
A long time ago I left a comment on this post.
Naturally, I've logged in for the first time since then and have randomly decided to reblog it expanding on those thoughts 😂
I kind of disagree with some of the points in the original post! Here's why.
OP talks about Jessica taking Bella under her wing when Bella was a new student as an example of her being a good friend. I actually think this is a really bad example of Jessica being a good friend! A lot of scenes in both the books and the movies imply that Jessica only did this because she wanted to share the massive amount of attention Bella was getting, not only from the school as a whole, but also from the boys in Jessica's friend group. Jessica wasn't really trying to help Bella out so much as she was trying to get in the good graces of someone who she saw was becoming popular.
Additionally, Jessica knew that Mike Newton had a crush on Bella. Her asking Bella if Bella returned those feelings didn't seem like she was trying to follow girl code, it seemed like she was trying to see if Bella was going to pursue Mike. If Bella was going to pursue Mike, Jessica wouldn't have a chance with him.
Jessica was jealous of Bella. This was made evident time and time again, both by her actions and by the things she thought and said.
In Chapter 4 of New Moon when Bella asks Jessica to go to the movies with her, Bella describes how she and Jessica hadn't talked in months. Jessica wouldn't even greet her in the hallways anymore. Due to this, Jessica was certainly reserved to go with Bella to the movies.
To clarify, I'm not implying Jessica is a bad friend for being hesitant to go to the movies with Bella after they hadn't talked in forever (which was mostly entirely Bella's fault). I'm just rejecting the notion made by the original post that Jessica did it 'without reservation'.
Another point that I would like to make is that Edward had valid reasons to dislike Jessica that had nothing to do with misogyny. I'm not arguing whether or not he was misogynistic as whole, I'm just stating that's not why he didn't like Jessica Stanley.
Edward didn't like Jessica because he could hear her thoughts. He heard all of the disparaging comments Jessica made about Bella while pretending to be nice to her.
He didn't like Jessica because he thought Jessica was a mean person.
He also had to hear her 'fantasies' about him, which disgusted him.
This is not Jessica Stanley's fault, private thoughts are supposed to be private. But that doesn't mean Edward's at fault for not liking her because he CAN hear them.
I agree with almost all of the other points made in the original post. Bella's behavior was incredibly erratic, and she didn't have any real interest in being Jessica's friend. She mostly just used Jessica as a distraction or as a way to get Charlie off her back about not having friends. It makes sense why Jessica wouldn't like her or want to be her friend because of that.
Jessica Stanley was an average teenage girl, but that doesn't mean she was ever really a good friend to Bella. She was using Bella the same way that Bella was using her.
And Bella was most definitely loca 😂
Thoughts on Jessica Stanley
I actually 100% agree with fandom on this.
Jessica is a great kid.
She’s immediately takes the new kid in when Bella starts at a new school, she goes out of her way to introduce her to the school and include her in the friend group. When she suspects Bella is interested in her long-time crush Mike, she is absolutely lovely about it. She asks Bella about it, and it’s not a leading or loaded question at all. Only when she has confirmed Bella’s not interested does she decide to make her move. This girl respects the sister code.
When Bella becomes a zombie in New Moon, Jessica is there for her the second Bella asks her to be. No reservations, no last-minute bail, no fuss at all, she’s totally on board with going on a long drive and to the theatre with Bella. The girl is solid.
Of course, that trip went to hell because Bella decided to put them both in danger of what looked like dangerous men, specifically because they looked dangerous, in spite of Jessica pleading with her not to. Bella didn’t feel at all bad about it either.
Bella is consistently bad at seeing things from other peoples’ point of view, which is why she did that in the first place and then never realized Jessica’s side of things.
To Bella, the fact that Jessica had a problem with her after Port Angeles was a Jessica problem. To Bella, this was a small thing and no big deal anyway, the important thing is she saw Edward. How Jessica might have experienced it was never even considered.
More, she never had a high regard of Jessica in the first place. Jessica likes to talk, to gossip, and she cares about things that Bella find unimportant. Bella doesn’t dislike Jessica, but she doesn’t particularly like her either.
She made that very clear, however unintentionally, in Port Angeles.
Jessica was well within her rights to set up strong boundaries after that. As it is, she seems to be a person Bella could have squared up with if she really wanted to, but Bella didn’t want to.
(I’m not saying any of this as a moral judgement against Bella. Yes, her behavior in PA was shitty, but she was never interested in Jessica and that’s no moral failing, it’s just who she is.)
As for Edward’s rather uncharitable view of Jessica, that’s because he’s a misogynist.
So these are my five cents on Jessica, she’s a great kid seen through the eyes of people who view her unfavorably for reasons that are none of her fault.

My Theory About The School | School Spirits
So obviously next season's mystery is going to somewhat revolve around why so many students died at the school and what Mr. Martin is keeping from everybody. My theory is that the entire school is a manifested trauma-energy-scar. What is one of the most traumatic times in a person's life? High school. The trauma and negative energy from the students and teachers over the years accumulated and made it so the school could essentially "suck the life out of" the people going there. What's another super traumatic place for a lot of people? The hospital. The hospital is probably another giant scar, which is why people also are more likely to die there.

Rhonda and Mr. M
I'm rewatching the first season of School Spirits before I watch the second season, and I just realized how much Mr. M is grooming Rhonda. Like, when I first watched it I thought he was just manipulating her like he was with everyone else. But watching the second time and thinking about her story and how she thought the guidance counselor was just super caring and she was groomed by him before she died, watching her go through something similar with Mr. M is kind of sad. He's singled her out as special the same way the guidance counselor did, and is using emotional fear tactics to get her to stay in line.

My BookTok Takes
If you think BookTok is ONLY talking about certain type of books, your algorithm either hates you or you're not actually on BookTok you just follow people who complain about it, and think you're morally superior.
Books aren't bad just because they are spicy. Books have always had spice. Just because you find it pointless in a book doesn't mean that other people can't like it, and it doesn't mean the book is automatically bad. It also doesn't mean people are automatically corn addicts. Just try and find books that don't have spice and quit complaining that books have it at all. Again, you just want to seem morally superior.
I know a lot of people are going to expect me to say that if you only read spice then that is a problem, but honestly it's not. Not unless you're judging other people for not reading it or calling them a prude. It's not concerning if people only read spice because that's their business, unless they do something creepy and try to get a murderer off the hook because they put their weird fantasies onto him. My whole point with 2 and 3 is to mind your business about what people read, it's not your place to be concerned for anyone but yourself.
"I won't take book recs if you like XYZ series because you obviously have bad taste." Can we stop putting people into boxes? They might like a series that you hate, but you may mutually love a different series. If they have bad taste for hating the first series, then you both must have bad taste for liking the second, right? Everyone has different tastes, sometimes those tastes overlap. I love the ACOTAR series, but I also love Animal Farm and The Spellshop. People can like more than one genre. We won't all like the same books ALL the time, it doesn't mean we can't recommend things just to see if you would also like something.
I hate the anti-intellectualism debate. I personally love critically thinking about books that especially rely on politics and real-world themes, but there are people out there who just want to read for fun and that's fine. They're not anti-intellectual (let's be so for real, this is just another way to call people stupid) for not wanting to engage in those conversations.
Do what is best for your mental health, not what will make you feel like you've won a competition. If you love reading and breezing through books, then by all means set your reading goal to 1000. But don't feel pressured to set a high goal because you feel embarrassed or like you're lacking for not reading insane amount of books. Most people who read like that have the ability to do so because it's their job.
The book industry is not collapsing just because there are poorly written books and editing errors. Those have always happened, they just get filtered out over the years as the really good subversive books remain popular. Stop freaking out that people can like these books. Good books are still getting published. If you're afraid they're not being read enough then go out, read them, and make them popular. Boom, problem solved.
Anyways. I know this is an incoherent rant. I've just been seeing so many negative things about BookTok. BookTok is fine, but the constant judgement and inappropriate behaviour is unacceptable. Mind your business, if you don't like the same thing as someone else, scroll. And don't comment weird things on videos of real people just because they remind you of your book boyfriends.

Nobody at all asked me for this, but I shall provide anyways
1. Absolutely L.
2. Probably Misa. I like that she added an extra challenge for both Light and L, but she was also annoying based on our perspective of her in the show.
3. [specific character] was great. They were fairly smart, and it was interesting trying to watch them trip up [other specific character]
4. I like Light’s mom, she seems pretty cool. Kinda feel bad for her. Her husband goes through torment for years trying to catch a serial mass murderer and eventually dies doing so, only to find out that it was her son all along ~*iT wAs AgAtHa AlL aLoNg*~
5. This question is complicated because Light’s ideology about Kira was wrong. He used Kira as a way to crown himself as a leader. But I can’t say whether or not Kira’s ideology was inherently wrong. Wiping out a mass amount of criminals did indeed decrease crime rates. But whether all of the criminals that died deserved to, or whether any should’ve been killed at all is up to personal interpretation. On the other side, Kira also frequently threatened and killed police who arguably had done nothing wrong other than get in Kira’s way.
6. This is also up to personal interpretation. I guess it really depends on what you value more: intent or action. Did he have the intent to help people? Maybe, maybe not. But he still tried to catch Kira to stop him from murdering people. Are his actions justified as good if his intentions weren’t?
7. Yes. She may not have personally killed as many people as him, but she absolutely murdered a ton of people. I think she’s kind of the opposite of L in a way. Her intentions might have been good, helping the person who got justice for her parents’ deaths, but her actions weren’t. Having a cute personality doesn’t save her from the murders she committed, though.
8. I think [specific character] would either throw it away, turn it into the police, or write names in it.
9. I probably would start off doing the same thing that Light did. I wouldn’t take it seriously when I read the rules and would want to test it out. But also seeing the rules about writing in the Death Note and then passing on into nothingness after I die would probably scare me. My curiosity would eventually get the best of me and I would do the same thing that Light did and would write down a criminal’s name. After waiting to find out if it works, I probably wouldn’t use it for awhile. Then if somebody I knew made me mad I might, in a fit of rage, write down their name in the book. I would regret it a few days later and fall into a depression of guilt. But I would keep doing it every time I got angry, like a habit. I would then want to use it for some good to justify the murders I had committed, and would use it for bad people or people I thought were generally inconvenient, annoying, or troubling in politics. If anybody caught on to what I was doing like L did with Kira, then I would immediately stop using it.
10. I ship L and Light. Whether platonically or romantically, I just want them to always be together. An eternal battle to expose or conceal Kira’s identity together and appreciating each other’s intelligence is a very beautifully bittersweet concept.
11. I think [specific ship] is kind of toxic tbh.
12. I haven’t had the fortunate opportunity to consume any manga, and I rarely find an anime that I like. Death Note, Angels of Death, and Death Parade are the few that I really enjoyed.
13. L, all the way. But I do think Light, a villain, is a really fascinating main character.
14. Ryuk, he just chills and eats his apples. Entertained by Light’s borderline absurd plans, and waiting for the day that he has to kill him. Rem is cool, I just didn’t like her as much.
15. Near. I don’t really like Mello that much, I’m sorry.
16. This is impossible to answer. L and Light are too equally matched, Light just had a leg up with the shinigamis helping him and explaining rules to him. That’s why he beat L. Although, beating L at that moment in time was actually uncharacteristically foolish of him.
17. Meh, not as exciting in my opinion. It had a different vibe than the first one, what with L being gone, Light running the show, and the time jump.
18. I would love to have more media going into depth about Wammy’s House. It’s such an interesting concept, and it would be great to better understand Wammy’s boys.
19. Yes. Regardless of his “tricks”, Near succeeded. Although, it could be argued that L never wanted to catch Light so much as have a giant advantage against him in their battle. He lost too much and got discouraged, but I think he would have been okay with a longer battle trying to prove Light is Kira because Light was his equal and that excited him. So I guess I would rather ask if L was a worthy predecessor to Near.
20. I think it was a good ending. We watched L fall, then we watched Light fall. And with Light’s god complex it was nice to see him crumble.
21. I’m a broken record, but L.
22. L dying in Light’s arms, and the last humanity Light had dying with him.
23. Light and L up on the roof, L hearing “the bells.” It was such an honest moment between them.
24. Probably written down somewhere, but none that I can remember off the top of my head.
25. I love L the most, but I don’t play teams. Most of the fun of L and Light was their mind games with each other.

Random Encanto Thoughts Pt. 1 (sorry it got so depressing the more the list went on)
1. Dolores had to listen to Bruno talk to rats and put on fake telenovelas in the walls for years
2. The only reason Mirabel was unhappy about not having powers was because her Abuela frequently told her she wasn’t special and blamed her for not having powers, and because her family purposely left her out of stuff. You see multiple times throughout the movie that the only reason she actually wants powers is to fit in with her family and not be treated like an outcast.
3. The family shamed Bruno for having a power, and shamed Mirabel for not having a power
4. Casita and it’s magic was made as a way to protect Abuela’s family, but Abuela used her family as a way to protect Casita and it’s magic.
5. Bruno was shamed when he used his powers, but also was shamed when he didn’t use them for the family. Then when he used them for the family he saw that they would ostracize his child niece, so he hid in the walls for years to protect her. He couldn’t even protect her that way because the family still excluded and bullied her. Then when he got back he got no apology and instead thought he was the one who needed to apologize.
6. Isabela was worse than Abuela in bullying Mirabel. She saw the way Abuela treated Mirabel, knew the kind of pressure Abuela put on everyone, and blamed Mirabel for something she had absolutely no control over. She was mad that everyone had high expectations for her, meanwhile she saw that everyone made Mirabel feel like she was worthless.
7. The mom literally made no difference in this movie. If she would have been excluded basically nothing would have changed.
8. Abuela being redeemed wasn’t the point of the ending. The point was that she needed to recognize how her trauma was affecting her behavior and relationships with her family and change it.
9. Abuela literally gaslit Mirabel. She called Mirabel a liar about the cracks and went off on her about it, but she knew they were real.
10. Camilo has to be older than Mirabel even if they’re both 15 if she was the last one to have a ceremony before Antonio.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we started saying “we don’t talk about Bruno” as a way of saying “yeah, we misjudged that person and their actions got totally twisted.” Especially because it’s a sound on TikTok, people could be making compilations of various celebrities the media and the world misjudged with the song over it.

Oh Il-nam was Wrong
In the last episode of The Squid Game we see Oh Il-nam dying in a bed and he reveals who he is and why he was in the games. He said that rich people and poor people aren’t so different because they’re both looking for something to feel alive. This is rich prick bullshit, and the prime example of this is the contrast of why he played the games versus why everyone else played the games. He played the games because he was bored, everyone else played the games because they realized after they quit that they were just going to return to their crappy lives where they’re going to slowly die from being poor and in debt anyways. They figured it’s better to play a few short games for the shot at a better life than waste away over the course of a few decades. Rich people, even if they once came from poverty, cannot relate to the current struggles of the lower class. Their biggest struggle is excess in everything, which leads to boredom because they’re never challenged. And now I’m going to go on a bit of a rant on that, so I digress. People always claim that rich people shouldn’t be expected to pay a dime for anything because they worked hard for what they had. In reality, they came up with a system where the working class makes their money for them and they barely have to lift a finger. Then you have the working class where people will work two full-time jobs and barely make enough to live, and they’re called lazy. The rich will always get richer, and not because they’re better at handling money, but because they profit off of people’s hard labor and barely pay them a thing. It is disgusting that there are people out there with more money in their bank accounts than they or ten of their family members could even spend in a lifetime while others have bleeding hands working in the best jobs they can get which pays them less than $10 an hour. The rich spend thousands of dollars to attend events where they parade around the souvenirs of their wealth on their body and expect the public to fawn over them for it. They buy real rockets to play with like toys. And we all buy into this bullshit. A person should have to work to live, but no person should have to kill themselves slaving away just to barely survive. And the working class can’t even try to gain some type of foot hold for power to fix this because only the rich can afford to pay for the costs of running to become leaders. Especially in the United States. If you’re a nobody than nobody is going to endorse and sponsor you. This means that the rich are the people who are able to run for president. And not even just for president, a majority of pricks working in the white house are rich. Do you honestly believe that they’re going to have our best interests in mind, all the while they’re letting us suffer because they refuse to raise the legal wages to cover the rise of inflation over the last two decades so they can keep getting cheap labor out of us? No. Why do you think the poor are taxed the most? Because the money has to come from somewhere and they’re certainly not going to legalize it being forced out of their own pockets. Which is ironic considering the history of why we left Britain in the first place. Some rich people donate their money, but in the end they’re only going to give so much and charities can only do so much. To conclude, the government doesn’t care about you and neither does the rich, mostly because they’re the same thing. Which is a far summary from what I started off this post about lol. Oop.

Unpopular Opinion about The Suicide Squad Movies
The new one sucks and is boring compared to the first. I really liked the beach scene in the 2021 movie where they killed the characters they introduced and no one in the movie cared, it gave a better meaning to the term Suicide Squad than the original did. But the movie overall was a mess. The new team that replaced the ones that died in the beginning are all very bland characters, with the exception of Bloodsport, whose comedic moments and witty comments fell flat because they lacked personality. Harley Quinn who is always the funniest and most entertaining character on the screen was hardly to be seen at all. And when she was it was just to introduce a weird potential love interest subplot that went nowhere when she killed him. And worse than just being bad like the original was, it wasn’t half as entertaining as Suicide Squad. I genuinely don’t understand how so many people like it when Suicide Squad was better overall put together with its characters and plotlines (minus Joker and Harley Quinn). And another unpopular opinion, Birds of Prey was better than both of these movies. It had its problems, especially with the way it was chronologically ordered (which is also a problem I have with the new The Suicide Squad movie) and how the rising actions were structured, but it was a way better movie than is given credit. If you enjoyed The Suicide Squad, great. I just found it to be very boring and tasteless compared to the original.

Alberto feigns an aura of so much indifference to what’s going on around him all the while his ambitions were literally just to make Luca’s dreams come true and ride off into the sunset with him driving on a vespa while they live happily ever after ksandovknos this movie was too cute.

Unpopular Opinion About The Kissing Booth 3
It was actually pretty good, but the first two movies just didn’t build up to it correctly and it has a different tone than them. Not to mention the writers were incredibly self aware in this movie with the toxicity of the different relationships and they definitely did a good job of mending these problems towards the end.

I don’t know if this makes sense, but Robert Pattinson didn’t play Edward Cullen. He played the portrayal of how Edward Cullen would play Edward Cullen. And he played that portrayal very well.
