Hey! I really like your art and after seeing that post you made about drawing weapons I was wondering if maybe you have some tips on improving line weight?
I think line weight is very specific to everyone’s own style. Here’s a fishman to illustrate what I mean (because guess what print Ill be doing this month eyyy):

These all yield pretty different outcomes but out of all 4 I think the only “bad” one is the 2nd drawing with the thin outlines+thick details.
Going by the 1st drawing - which is how I usually draw stuff, these are some basic guidelines:-inner details should not be thicker than outlines-things that are closer to the viewer should have thicker outlines than things further away (esp. if there’s a lot of foreshortening going on, like a character reaching towards the viewer, etc.)-don’t try to cram too many details in far-away things, especially if they’re not the focus of the picture-if you work digitally, feel free to use a line smoothing tool, like Lazy Nezumi-draw each line with a quick, defined movement instead of lots of small, “hairy” lines. Curves can be broken up into several smaller curves for a more angular look.
That being said, when I work on paper and use technical pens for my lines, I go through them a couple times to give them artificial line weight. Otherwise they kinda just look like the 3rd fishman drawing. I’m actually waiting on some brush pens to get shipped atm because @soularch introduced them to me and now I want <___<

When I die I want to be buried with grave goods that make future archaeologists think I was of much higher status than I actually was so that my grave will be referred to as a princely burial and I’ll be remembered by some cool name like “The Colchester Barrow Princess” (I’ve decided that I will be buried in a highly visible barrow, possibly with a ship) and the National Trust will erect a small museum about me filled with entirely incorrect but cool sounding archaeological assumptions

based on extensive observation, I believe that my cats have only a tenuous grasp on how much of my body is “me”
It’s like, Head: definitely Big Friend, note eyes and noise-hole.
Hands: 90% certainty of Big Friend, 10% possibility of toy. comprised of two main parts, the rubby-rubby and the wriggly-scritchers. does Big Friend control them with her mind? the mechanism is unclear.
Arms, aka “Cuddle Snakes”: do these help Big Friend’s hands from getting lost? good place to sit.
Torso: ??? we have no idea what this is. smells like Big Friend but serves no observable purpose. treat as terrain.
Legs, see: “The Lap Conundrum”: 25% chance of Big Friend, totally uninteresting. WHEN LAP: 90% chance of Big Friend, excellently warm. where does the lap go? our finest cat scientists seek the answer to this mystery, but no breakthroughs as of yet.
Feet, aka “Twitchy-Kickers”: 10% chance of Big Friend, 90% chance of foe. all attempts to communicate have ended in hostility. Destroy on sight.

@rosemarypond If you’re going to call someone out, you might want to do it right:
The spherical earth was a concept as early as the 6th century BC, and formally agreed upon as a physical given in the 3rd century BC. It then slowly integrated itself into common knowledge until Ferdinand Magellan proved the theory with a practical demonstration in 1522 when he and Juan Sebastián Elcano completed the first circumnavigation of the globe.
a flat-earther just followed me and i literally blocked them…….. i really am that petty
