Okay so I’m an elementary school art teacher right, and I have this really fun game I made a PowerPoint for to teach like, emotions and intent and looking at the whole picture to first grade.
The idea is, when we count down and change slides, kids have to mimic one thing in the painting as best they can, whether it’s animate or inanimate. If there’s nothing in the shot for them to mimic (because I threw some contemporary abstract stuff in), they have to show me how the painting makes them feel. Easy enough, gets them excited to move around and vocal about their feelings regarding art, it’s very chaotic. I can tell pretty fast who’s got the emotional maturity to mimic things in a complex way, and who’s just enough of an abstract thinker to mimic inanimate objects early on in the game...
So the first picture is this:
Tumblr media
Napoleon Crossing the Alps. My favorite reactions are usually the kids who pretend to be the freaked-out horse, but 2 memorable occasions were the one where a student immediately scrunched up to be the rock in the foreground, and the one where a pair of girls, without any communication on their parts, decided to be Napoleon riding the horse with one as Napoleon and one as the horse. Basically one of them fully tackled the other apropos of nothing, it was hilarious
I’ll add more if y’all want or if I feel like it lol I have a bunch of stories from this one game

For the last goddamn time...
"Kill your darlings" means "if something is holding you back, get rid of it, even if it sounds pretty."
That's it! That's all it means! It means if you're stuck and stalled out on your story and you could fix the whole block by removing something but you're avoiding removing that thing because it's good, you remove that thing. That's the darling.
It does NOT mean
That you have to get rid of your self-indulgent writing
That you should delete something just because you like it (?wtf?)
That you need to kill off characters (??? what)
That you have to pare your story down to the absolute bare bones
That you have to delete anything whatsoever if you don't want to
The POINT is that you STOP FEELING GUILTY for throwing out good writing that isn't SERVING THE STORY.
The POINT is that you don't get so HUNG UP on the details that you lose sight of the BIG PICTURE.
Good grief....

no but as cheesy as it was the train scene in spiderman 2 is truly untouchable. spider man risks his life (again) for his city, and prevents a train from going off the rails, but passes out from exhaustion. four hands come up from behind him, and pull him into the train. the passengers look down at him, his mask off, and comment about how he’s just a kid. you can see it in their faces. he’s not familiar. he’s not memorable. he could have been any one. they give him back his mask, and help him to his feet.

My mom almost just ordered me a bunch of Woobles kits bc she saw this ad on Facebook:
Tumblr media
And saw these prices:
Tumblr media
And thought that was just too good a deal to pass up.
But wait! What's this?
Tumblr media
What on earth is Woolipop?
It's a scam, of course! But they did a good job making a seemingly legitimate shopfront, mostly by stealing official Woobles graphics. My mom caught this and didn't buy- who knows what she would have gotten, if anything? But yeah, little scam that you should know about if you're into crochet. Or want to be into it. Woobles kits are great to learn on, but they are expensive, and these prices really are too good to be true.

I don't even know where to start with it. I need a character to speak like her dialog was written by a chatGPT customer support hotline. I don't know what those guys sound like tbh.

Concepts for my two ancient pearl cerdae, who have been overcome by the growth of the pact-seed over their years of wanderings. The first one is enveloped in gnarled old wood without leaves; perhaps the growth is ironically sustained by the life force of the host at this point. The second one is covered in a rich, dense growth of willow leaves.

Here are their looks onsite (second one is a scry).

Hi! Hopefully you dont mind, but a quick car question.
Do paint scratches matter in any meaningful sense? Or are they purely cosmetic? Ive heard things will rust if the paint isnt intact but only ever from people trying to sell me stuff... so im suspicious.
Tumblr media
Fluffy duck friends for tax! (I promise theyre waterfowl, i work with them)
Oh those are some excellent birds.
Paint can be important but it kind of depends on what part of the car it's on and what environment you're in. In Southern California, where it's so dry that we generally don't worry much about rust, I've never been concerned about paint scratches. On my Saturns, which had plastic side panels, I never worried about paint scratches. There's a big chip/scrape on the roof of my subaru that rusty, so I'm going to want to fix that.
Basically the only ones to worry about are the ones that go through the clearcoat, paint, and primer down to bare metal. If you've got a scratch or chip that goes to bare metal, you are going to want to clean the scratch and seal it to prevent rust
What you need to do for this is basically use an abrasive to clean the area, a compound to fill the scratch, and a sealer to prevent water from getting in. There are tons of tutorials out there for how to do this, but it all depends on how bad the scratch or chip is. It's hard to give universal advice on something like this, but this turtle wax scratch repair kit is a decent all-around option for different kinds of minor scratches and this ifixit tutorial is good for repairs that are bad enough that you want to actually do a paint touchup. (Reminder: i don't use affiliate links, I'm reccing that repair kit because it's good for people who aren't comfortable using sandpaper on their paint job, i'm not getting paid for it but there's a lot of bad paint repair advice out there and this is a good option for minor scratches that isn't going to damage your paint)
The issue with rust, btw, is that it will eventually weaken the metal and it will spread. If you've got a chip that exposes metal and you ignore it, that exposed area will rust and then it will begin to peel and flake the paint around it as rust spreads under the paint; in places with weather where they salt the roads, this can be very destructive.
Also, for reference:
Clear coat scratch (just the top layer, can be buffed out)
Tumblr media
Paint Scratch (top layer and second layer, may need to be filled to hide it)
Tumblr media
Those first two are cosmetic most likely aren't going to cause any damage to your car.
Primer scratches/chips like the one below are the ones to worry about.
