Hello Everyone!

Let me be the first to say Happy New Year officially! I realize I didn't actually state it in the first post of the year, but oh well! It's nice to talk to you again!

From over here in Starlight HQ (and by HQ, I mean our computer screens), please know that Starlight Issue 2 is pretty much in full swing again! Yippee!

To kick off the New Year, and to celebrate, please take some production sketches from Issue 2 so far (plus one that looks like it came straight out of a movie storyboard leak)!

Issue One is now done and dusted, and we did have some seasonal messages planned, but ... y'know how the holidays are. We are now in the process of thumbnailing, lining, writing and mixing together Issue Two for your enjoyment!

We don't have a set date, but keep your eyes on this page in the coming months! I'm sure we'll have something fun by then <3

Nooo, that's so sad. Don't ignore my favorite actor, Sonic please

but I believe it's 'fair', after all Shamdow just ruined his entire reality in a small fraction of minutes /j. But serious- come to think of it, they are no longer friends. Shamdow isn't Shadow, he's just a complete stranger, so... Yeah, Sonic would probably ignore him for a long time, maybe.

And God. Stopping to think about it now: Since now Sonic/Nicky is out in the real world, I can only imagine all his fans seeing him on the street and being extremely happy and surprised that their favorite actor is going public — Something like the scene from Sonic X which everyone is shocked and the police just start chasing Sonic.

Sonic X is definitely a large inspiration for the next issue and this issue just passed - Sonic in the middle of a city he's marginally unfamiliar with? Crazy!

But yeah ... Sonic doesn't really know 'Shamdow'. He knows SHADOW. The ultimate lifeform! The edgy hedgehog himself! They've been through thick and thin together, and the Shadow he knows would never be anything like 'Shamdow' is.

To Sonic, he's very much like a stranger at the moment.

You're probably tired of werehog questions but I gotta know how did his costars react to that? XD I'm assuming they mustve been so confused cause none of that was probably briefed to them beforehand

I think after a certain point, people stop asking questions when it comes to the show's direction - as I said before, the more seasoned you are within the cast, the more accustomed you are with the random stuff that goes on behind the scenes LMAO

The reactions probably ranged from "This seems like a random thing to add to this season, but okay?" to "Are you kidding me? Now I have to adlib around random werewolf-ism????" - overall, a lot of confusion, quick script correction and on they went!

No time for slowing down acting around the fastest thing alive!

thinking about fakedow seeing sonic eat a chili dog for the first time and realizing that this guy can really just inhale those things and that there’s no trick or special effects - would he be scared? impressed? both?

Honestly, a bit of both! I'd hazard a guess that he's even a little envious because he wants to eat chilli dogs like that. He'd definitely ask for tips or tricks LMAO

So I was rereading the comic (as one does when they start thinking about a super cool comic) and I noticed that page 38 was missing it's Next link. Just thought you'd wanna know! Also I sooooo freaking love this comicccc. I can't wait to see what happens with Sonic and how he takes everything!!!

If the Werehog wasn't planned, how did the Gaia fight go down? That doesn't really seem like the sort of thing you can just set up if things go off-script.

The Werehog was one of those things that occured because of a combination of things - bad ideas, bad execution, a whole lot of grudges, etc.

But the people in charge are seasoned when it comes to dealing with Sonic - you've got to be adept at thinking on the fly when the person you're trying to fool runs a million miles an hour. The crux of the season was always "Dark Gaia/Light Gaia", it just so happened that Sonic .. uh .. became a werewolf.

Definitely not in the cards, but they made it work.

I bet this has been asked before, but how do the other actors feel about improv? I have to imagine that's what they have to do around Sonic 100% of the time, and for all of them who don't know what's going on, that's gotta be pretty taxing. XD

It's pretty much exactly as you describe - some think he's an eccentric method actor that thinks of no-one but himself, some think he's an extraordinary talent and are honoured to work with him, and some think that he needs to take a serious break from acting with how into the role of 'Sonic' he appears to have gotten.

The longer an actor has been improv-ing around Sonic, the more comfortable they get with it, but it's definitely a shock to more seasoned actors that join them as one-offs for villain roles or more niche rolls within a specific season.

Wasn't... Wasn't Rogue's name revealed to be Cassie like, a WHILE ago? Or am I just imagining it?

It was heavily theorized to be her name, but I don’t think we confirmed anything! (unless we messed up somewhere).

There's this character Haruhi Suzumiya who has godlike powers where whatever she thinks would be cool becomes real, and her friends have to convince her she's not special and it's not cool to keep the world from going crazy. This kind of feels like the opposite of that, where "they" want(ed) to keep Sonic feeling special and cool so his powers can keep the world (confined to the filming area) crazy awesome. I wonder if Sonic's powers would work the same if HE thought he was "just an actor"...

How one percieves oneself makes all the difference.

The world's greatest genius could still do nothing with their life if they thought of themself an idiot.

The world's greatest actor could really be a superhero if that's the only thing they've ever been told.

illusions and sonic in a state of metaphorical isolation? is this all happening during the 6 months he was captured? throwing stuff at the wall here but this level of mindfuckery is uncharacteristic for eggman

Like Sonic said, he's "pretty sure he dealt with [Infinite]" a while ago - still not out of the question, though. Anything is possible if everything is fake, after all.

Or maybe we just want you to be as confused and disoriented as Sonic! Mwuahahahaah!

I was really hoping to see omega I had this idea he was played much like R2D2's actor in star wars XD, though he could genuinely be a robot, seeing as we have seen the little bots that "Mr Robotnic" or someone on set has made. This leads to many more questions but I love the mystery and I can't wait to see more <3

I have a feeling that Sonic subconsciously knew he was on set, but never actually realized it. He tried to grab the rails to stop himself in the early pages, as if he knew they were there, but didn't realize it. He knew where the hall was and where to spindash, but never realized it. Sonic recognized the Halloween decorations, but never realized it. Sonic knew, but never realized it until he got out. The studio is hiding something, not just from the actors, but from Sonic as well. They don't want them to realize what is happening, and they may go into panic mode now that Sonic got out.

This is actually a really interesting observation! These asks always have gems of ideas, I love reading them!

Knowing Sonic ... I'm sure there must've been some occasions where he felt ... off. Maybe he never really pieced it together - where pieces of set design didn't feel quite like a real city, or a real forest, or people were a bit stilted - but there may have been a few things in the back of his mind that he just never realized.

But you're right: the studio is lying to more people than just Sonic.

Okay, this really could be a nothing observation.

But I get the feeling Sonic might not be aging the same as everyone else. He's still a teen... The closest two I can gauge who are in his general age range is Mighty and Ray. But they... They seem like full fledged adults while Sonic is still firmly a teen.

Even if I give the grace that they were older when hired, how come Shamdow is still not in Sonic's age ballpark? As an important costar as Shamdow is, you'd think they'd try to keep them close in age. Unless... That was a task easier said than done.

(Btw, I adore this AU and everything about it! I hope you are able to continue this fantastic story! I can't wait to see where this goes from here!)

Fun Fact! If you do the math, and assume that Shamdow was 15 at the time of filming in SA2, and add on how long he's been Shadow's actor? You can reach roughly the correct age for how old he is!

But yes - it's been 30 years and Sonic isn't like .. 40. Strange, isn't it? Definitely not a nothing observation!
