Vulnerability is kind of a buzz word right now, but I think it's because it's tapping into the zeitgeist. All of this nonsense about building a personal brand in order to succeed...that's not a way to live. Let's be real. And open. And honest. Sometimes we get hurt, but oh well. We're stronger because of it. And more often, it leads to something beautiful. https://ift.tt/2yGekW7

How does your life feel to you? There are so many think pieces on how millennials are on social media to brag about their branded (read: fake) lifestyles. But that's not how I see you guys using social media. I see us using it to connect. To get support when we need it. To share our expertise and save the day. To remind ourselves that we are never alone in this. And that's incredible. https://ift.tt/2YfwwoW

I know some people are adamantly against dark humor, but it's my favorite coping mechanism. A lot of times I ask myself: how can this be fun? what about this is funny? Sometimes I'd rather not have anyone overhear, since I don't want to offend anyone. But when life is absurd, what can you do but laugh? https://ift.tt/2K1zao5

That feeling when you can't wait for Monday to go in to work and get a break from caregiving Unless caregiving is your job or you left your job because of your caregiving responsibilities at home #ineedabreak #caregivinglife #sundayscaries #worksucks #garagesale #vhs https://ift.tt/2JjTnq0

You can solve a problem, sure. But it's the systems that create problems. They're trickier to change. But it's still possible. http://bit.ly/2J65OES

A couple of weeks ago in the newsletter I asked for the books that have changed your life. I'm working on putting a list together. Are there any you'd like to add? #hospitalmom #iamacaregiver #caregivingbooks #lifechangingbooks #shelfie http://bit.ly/2J0BNWM

I've been thinking about toxic positivity lately (which you already know based on the articles I've shared on Facebook and Twitter) but that doesn't mean there's no place for training ourselves to see the world in a way that encourages gratitude and celebration. I don't know if there is a greater purpose or a reason for anything, but there is a certain magic to experiencing the full spectrum of human emotions. Being happy - or grateful - all the time simply isn't possible for us imperfect creatures. It's okay to fall apart, to be miserable, to have a day where everything and everyone pisses you off. The more we fight and judge our emotions, the harder they are to get through. Lately people keep talking to me about how they need to get help because they're anxious and sad in situations where any reasonable person would be anxious and sad. I'm not going to talk anyone out of getting support, but being unhappy doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. #onthesoapbox #demotivationalspeaker #itsokaytobeangry #toxicpositivity #embracethefeels #lifeishard http://bit.ly/2IRSyUg

Taking care of someone else can be so isolating. It's weird how spending so much time with one person can leave you feeling so lonely and disconnected. We're not meant to be alone. There are a lot of people who get it -- there are millions of caregivers. People understand what you're going through, you just need to get out there and talk with them. http://bit.ly/2WOIeG8

It's easy to find reasons to feel like the world isn't a safe and welcoming place, but then there are spaces where everyone truly is welcome. What places truly are inclusive? http://bit.ly/2WCuLMD
