The Courtyard Lobby comes alive for the 3rd consecutive year from the 15th to the 24th of December from 10.00 a.m to 10.00 p.m with the much-anticipated Christmas Market. The market will transport you to the streets of Europe, with international Christmas goodies such as specialty breads, cured meats and much more.

Christmas is for the sound of Children’s laughter, and at Cinnamon Grand we have a treat for kids of any age, young or old. The Christmas Carnival on the 17th of December at 6.00 p.m promises excitement for the entire family with games, grub and lots of fun!

You’ll also want to make your way to the Tea Lounge between the 17th and 24th of December for a Christmas Afternoon Tea experience that will leave you warm and comforted in the Christmas glow.  While you’re in the area, why not stay for a time of reflection and reverie at the seasonal toast from the 21st to the 24th at 6.30 p.m. Minced pies, roast nuts and a glass of Mulled wine are on the house!

All you can eat Thai Food Festival at Cinnamon Lakeside

The Thai Food Festival is back for the 3rd consecutive year from 14th-24th of September 7.00 – 11.00 p.m! Cinnamon Lakeside’s premier Thai restaurant Royal Thai and the Terrace come alive with over 60, aromatic, exotic flavours of Thailand to bring all foodies an all you can eat culinary treat.

The MasterChef Ms. Bongkot Sabpong and the talented team at Royal Thai will create over 60 dishes ranging from authentic staples like Tom yum to more adventurous variants such as homemade Thai dumplings to take you on a trip to Thailand. The buffet will also feature all the traditional favourites; red, yellow and green curries along with a few of Royal Thai’s signature dishes such as seafood homok in banana leaf, a Lanon seafood ball and Crispy fried pork belly with Thai tamarind sauce for which the restaurant has received both local and international acclaim.

Cinnamon’s city hotels bag 70 medals at Culinary Art 2017

Cinnamon’s city hotels’ Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red showed the culinary prowess of their respective Kitchen and F&B Teams by winning a total of 70 medals at the country’s premier culinary competition Culinary Art 2017 organized by the Chefs’ Guild of Lanka, at the BMICH from July 28-30. Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo’s leading urban resort also won the coveted 'Most Outstanding City Hotel Team’ award and the' Gold Excellence Award for The Best Cocktail Creation.’ The hotels’ teams won these medals, in a fiercely competitive event, where 1700 of the country’s chefs, representing 165 hotels, met to compete for accolades in 34 categories of culinary art. Cinnamon Grand rewards outstanding associates’

Cinnamon Grand held its quarterly Associates’ Meeting for the first quarter of the financial year 2017/2018 to appreciate and reward noteworthy contributions of dedicated associates. The event held at the hotel’s Ballroom room on July 11, saw the participation of over 400 associates and heads of departments. The most coveted award, The General Manager’s Award was shared by U.V.T.M Rajakaruna from Laundry for his honesty and integrity in returning significant amounts of cash and valuable jewellery, found in clothing items sent by guests and Lalith Rathanasekera from Engineering for impactful assistance in creating over 125 Vesak lanterns whilst performing his normal job tasks. The Super Star Awards went to Indika Siriwardena (Front Office) for his customer focus and revenue oriented strategy and J Hareendiran from (Banquet Operations) for his exceptional customer service and commitment. The Grand Stars for the quarter were Sampath Thushara Bandara (Kitchen Stewarding), U.D.A Linton (Housekeeping), K.C.S Kumara (Food &Beverage) and W.T.C Fernando (Front Office). The ‘Grand Stars’ are nominated by each department head, and selected on votes garnered. `Super Stars’ are the nominees that have highest votes. A white lotus Vesak! - Cinnamon Grand Colombo

Premier five-star city hotel Cinnamon Grand wowed Colombo yet again with our beautiful creativity, decorating the Hotel’s driveway with 105 white lotus lanterns. Created by the Engineering team led by Assistant Chief Engineer Sudarman Perera, the lanterns made out of white silk material took three months to build, as this was done alongside other essential work of the Hotel. With the frame being developed by the Mechanical Division and the rest by Civil Engineering, the entire team contributed to ensure that the creations were ready on time.

The theme of this year coincides with the United Nations Vesak Celebrations hosted by Sri Lanka.

Following the traditions, our Village in the City, Nuga Gama host a dansala in its premises, serving a number of guests saruwarth during the evening.

Grand Soccer Sevens concludes with Angsana as Winners

Premier five-star city hotel Cinnamon Grand hosted the first sporting event for the financial year, Grand Soccer Sevens on Saturday 9 May at the Thurstan College Rugby grounds.

With 15 teams vying for the cup, Angsana Pain Killers won the tournament, having emerged to the finals against F&B Avengers. Kitchen Culinary Champs were recognised as Second Runners Up.

Man of the Tournament went to John Ragu of F&B Avengers while Man of the final was awarded to K.R.Travis of Angsana Pain Killers. D. Prasad of Angsana Pain Killers was accoladed as Best Goal Keeper.

Over 500 associates turned up for the fun-filled event which ended on great sportsmanship and comradery in true Grand spirit.

Premier five-star city hotel Cinnamon Grand unfolded a truly authentic Jaffna experience with the launch of the much awaited Jaffna Festival on Thursday 16 at the hotel’s completely transformed Village in the City.

The event was inaugurated by Tourism Development Minister John Amaratunga, in the presence of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairman Paddy Withana, John Keells Leisure Industry Group President Krishan Balendra and Cinnamon Grand General Manager Rohan Karr.

The one-of-a-kind event is a culmination of the intrinsic food, art, music and entertainment which is part of the rich culture and heritage of Yalpanam.

The 11-day festival is open for dinner on weekdays and for both lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays and is priced at Rs.2,600 nett.

A debut initiative to give metropolitans, diaspora and tourists a slice of Jaffna right here in the city of Colombo, the Hotel has brought down five ladies excelling in Yal food to prepare over 70 authentically Jaffna dishes using produce sourced daily from the farms and markets of the district, dancers from the district, artisans and spice manufacturers from Pungudutivu.

Cinnamon Grand Colombo emerge Joint Champions at the 34th TTHCS

Cinnamon Grand Colombo's cricket team emerged Joint Champions at the 34th Travel Trade Hardball Cricket Sixes (TTHCS) which was held on the 29th of October at the Thurstan Grounds in Colombo. Cinnamon Grand Colombo’s Ishan Jayarathne who scored the highest number of sixes at the tournament was adjudged Man of the Tournament at this event. Inaugurated in 1976, Travel Trade Sports Club is the leading sports club representing the travel industry in Sri Lanka.

The Cinnamon’s city hotels embraced a Caribbean theme at this year’s JKH Intercompany Rugby 7’s, held on 1 October 2016.

The annual rugby encounters saw associates from the city hotels having a fun time and the teams playing a good day throughout the day.

Cinnamon Grand Colombo were placed Runners-up after facing John Keells Office Automation (JKOA) at the final encounter of the ‘Cup’ category, while Cinnamon Red was placed runners up in the ‘Bowl’ category after facing the Transportation sector team.

Several fun games for the associates was also held at the event, with Caribbean King and Queen been chosen from each city property.

Cinnamon’s city hotels launch #CSnapColombo promoting ‘Destination Colombo’.

The trendsetters in the leisure industry Cinnamon’s city hotels – Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red – celebrating the World Tourism Day launched the pioneering #CSnapColombo Photography Competition.

The Photography Competition which was launched on Instagram on 27 September 2016 and opened to all Sri Lankans and foreign travellers, aims to highlight and rediscover the city of Colombo and its’ hidden gems through artful capture of places, art, culture and cuisine.

#CSnapColombo welcomes photographs by professionals as well as amateurs captured through any device (phone or camera) that showcases the striking stories of the city that goes unnoticed at most times.   

This one of a kind competition is backed with several amazing prizes from the Cinnamon’s city hotels. The first prize winner will receive a Rs.50,000 voucher to be utilised at any of the Cinnamon’s city hotels, while the second prize winner will receive a Rs.25,000 voucher to be utilized at any of the three properties. The third prize winner will receive a dinner for three voucher at any one of the hotels’ restaurants. 

Speaking regarding #CSnapColombo, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Sector Head-City Hotels Rohan Karr stated that, “This is primarily an initiative by Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside and Cinnamon Red to promote ‘Colombo travel’”. He further noted that, the competition is a launch pad to promote and create awareness on Colombo as a destination of its own, given its diver accommodation options, eclectic dining experiences, the dynamic art and culture, and the lifestyle. “It is about encouraging ‘Colombo travel’ and the many experiences it offers.”
