The Daily Beer - Good beer every single day.
6K posts
Since 2010, one day and one beer at a time, I post my notes on beers that I've had and where to find them. I rate beers on a purposefully coarse scale: 4 = Excellent 3 = Good 2 = Mediocre 1 = Bad Who am I?

RoHa Brewing Thursday IPA (Picked up at an Utah State Liquor Store in Salt Lake City). A 3 of 4. Pretty standard orange/citrus hop profile on this and a relatively clean simple body with a touch of caramel malt. Reasonably bitter in the finish.

Pure Moonlight Summit Hazy IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Lots of stone fruit and other tropical fruit in the nose on this, and much the same in the juicy body. Quite refreshing and really resembles juice in places with a nice lingering juiciness on the palate.

Epic Barley Wine Ale (Picked up at an Utah State Liquor Store in Salt Lake City). A 3 of 4. Yep, this is a class English barleywine. Lots of toffee and dark fruit and bready notes with some alcohol that fades in towards the finish. The nose is mostly malty but there is a touch of citrus and resin, and this finishes on the sweet side, as you'd expect.

Prodigy Brewing Inversion NE IPA (Picked up at an Utah State Liquor store in Salt Lake City). A 3 of 4. Relatively standard hazy IPA with tropical fruit and citrus dominant in the nose, and a body that's slightly soft on the palate with a similar profile. More bitterness than expected towards the finish, which is a nice touch.

Templin Familiy Brewing 210 IPA (Picked up at an Utah State Liquor store in Salt Lake City). A 3 of 4. Nice mix of citrus and tropical fruit in the nose on a very light and dry body. Quite high carbonation and refreshing on the palate. Not going to stand out of a pack probably, but the hop profile shines well on the lighter body.

Brü Daddy's Kickin' It Back IPA on tap at Yard House at King of Prussia. A 1 of 4. Something's wrong here -- very little carbonation or lacing, tastes oxidized, and only really some faint malt notes come through -- very little hop presence if any at all.

Salt Flats Brewing Tank Slapper Double Rye IPA (Picked up at an Utah State Liquor store in Salt Lake City). A 3 of 4. You do get some rye spiciness in the nose as well as some citrus and quite a bit of caramel malt notes. This is pretty big and malty and a touch unbalanced without as much bitterness as I'd prefer.

Beachwood + There Does Not Exist Elemental Existence IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Nice big tropical fruit and citrus in the nose with lots of stone fruit and berry as well. Lighter, clean body with much the same fruitiness, and a dry finish with a relatively aggressive bite. Really great hop profile that grabs the wheel of this easy-drinking IPA.
