(Advertisement) Finally! Another sour beer from the ugliest of all - Ugly Duck! But most important of all, is it better than Brabant? Short answer: no. But! It's still a good Sour Red Ale with notes of balsamico, vinegar, dried fruit and sweet malt. A well balanced taste experience! #xmasanomali #uglyduckbrew #sourredale (The above-mentioned beer was a free sample from Bryggeriet Vestfyen) (her: Ugly Duck Brewing Co.) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7EdaU2pbqX/?igshid=1usryc67nuw7e

(Advertisement) Indslev Brewery are known for their focus on wheat beers, and Julehvede is no exception. The taste experience is fairly light with malt (caramel like), banana, and spicy notes. A fine wheat beer. (Advertisement) Finishing the last Christmas craft beers. Willemoes Julebryg is fairly light with malty (caramel like), licorice and brown sugar notes. The aftertaste is mildly bitter. Average taste experience. Finishing some of the remaining Christmas beers. Christmas Ale from Fur brewery has a malty (caramel like) taste with a weird hoppy finish. Not really sure, what Fur brewery wanted to achieve with this craft beer🤔 💰 30 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) #furchristmasale #furbryghus #belgianstrongale (her: Fur Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B61BjH3JZEz/?igshid=1bovi8m0us5mi

I know, I know...I'm a bit late to the party, but this is my first Stille Nacht 🙄 And what a great Belgian Strong Ale! The taste experience is very well balanced with sweet notes of caramel, plum and raisins. The aftertaste is a little bitter and with notes of alcohol. An awesome craft beer and now a part of my must buy Christmas beers. #stillenacht #dedollebrouwers #strongbelgianale 💰45 DKK | 🏪 @beershoppen (her: De Dolle Brouwers) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6yOJP3pWo7/?igshid=xtbeczpwv66g

Unfortunately, I'm only able to recommend 2 craft beers for 2019. The first one is Maz (Mazarin) from Omnipollo and the other one is Brabant (Flanders Red Ale) from Ugly Duck Brewery Co. Hopefully, I will be able to recommend a wider range of craft beer styles in 2020🤞 (her: Kolding, Denmark) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6u_iLcpg46/?igshid=1ppzofu1xhlvl

(Advertisement) A hopped bock you say? 🤔 That is definitely something new. The taste experience is malty sweet (caramel like taste) with notes of fruits (from the hop). A mediocre taste experience. So, selling craft beers wasn't enough for you, Kihoskh😉 Beer: A well-balanced porter with notes of roasted malt, chocolate and a little liquorice. Simply put, a great porter from Pohjala Brewery 👍 Food-pairing: After reading the beer description, I thought that I should try some glazed gingerbread and milk chocolate with this beer. And you know what, it works pretty good. They compliment each other quite well. If @vielviel_mehr helped getting the beer to Tønder, then a big thanks goes to them. 💰 35 DKK | 🏪 @kvickly (Tønder) #deepspacexmasparty #pohjalabeer #imperialporter (her: Tønder) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6YsfSMJMXj/?igshid=13vz47dbxb48g

As people may have noticed, Fanø Bryghus have been stepping up their game in 2019. Which is why I'm excited about this one. Fanø Juleporter has a light roasted malt taste with notes of coffee, cinnamon and liquorice. An okay porter. Food pairing: Danish doughnuts (æbleskiver) with powdered sugar and this porter are an okay match. I believe some Christmas chocolate would have been better match with Fanø Julebryg. #fanøjulebryg #fanøbryghus #porter 💰 30 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Fanø Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6TjCa1ps7_/?igshid=w0mlfjdwts80

Beer: Barley Wines are one of my preferred beer styles in the winter periods. Hønisse has a sweet malty (notes of caramel) taste with notes of dried fruit and a small bitter aftertaste. Food pairing: Another round of rice pudding (risengrød). This time, I'll try some barley wine, as people recommend. Hønisse does work well with rice pudding, and I think you should give it a shot as well. I think a chocolate stout or coffee porter could work as well. #hønisse #brygmesterskagen #barleywine 💰 30 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Skagen Bryghus A/S) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Q7zASl1QN/?igshid=t9xmhfvt2wyu

18. December Beer: A dark, malty taste with small notes of nuts and caramel. The aftertaste is mild with notes of hemp, I think. Food pairing: went a bit on a limp here by pairing this brown / dark ale (including hamp) with port-salut cheese. It works okay, but I'm sure another craft beer would have worked better with the cheese. 💰 25 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Svaneke Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6OYVSnJp1l/?igshid=1lkzpjqqzc7rs

Beer: A new Christmas craft beer from Åben. Milk The Cow is okay balanced with notes of dark roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. However, I'm missing a stronger, darker/bitter roast. Food pairing: Barley wine seems to be the preferred choice for rice budding (risengrød), but I wanted to see how stout would work out. To be honest, it does work and the dark, roasted notes compliment the notes of milk, cinnamon and sugar. Give it a try. Åben, please make a DDH IPA for next year's Christmas 🙏🤶🎄🎅 #milkthecow #åbenbryg #stout 💰 35 DKK | 🏪 @beershoppen (her: ÅBEN) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6LtFNdFZWZ/?igshid=ll1rwg8kq8c1

Beer: a balanced taste of malt with small notes of caramel and some spices I can't recognize. A mild bitter aftertaste and an okay brown ale. Food pair: according to Brewers Association, brown ales can be matched with aged gouda. However, I might bought the wrong craft beer, because it is only an okay combination (my fault). What craft beer should I buy to aged gouda? 🤔 #funkysanta #midtfynsbryghus #imperialbrownale 💰 35 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Midtfyns Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6JVFJKpNqB/?igshid=1qxnprhyhbnfz

As we are getting closer to Christmas, it is time for some desserts as well 🎅🎁🤶 So, let's start with a craft beer from a brewery I haven't tried anything from before 🎉 Beer taste: Malty (caramel) sweet with small notes of cherry. A fine dubbel taste experience👍 Food pairing: Nørrebro Bryghus recommends this craft beer to Danish rice dessert with almond (risalamande) and I think it works okay. I guess a stronger taste of cherry would have have made the combo even better. #juledubbel #noerrebrobryghus #dubbel 💰 30 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Nørrebro Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6GqPqUFSKi/?igshid=1n3a2rhgcedml

No Christmas without a Ørbæk Bryggeri beer Beer: Hmm... This is by far the weirdest tasting bock I've ever tried. The taste experience is very sweet with malty (caramel) notes and way too much taste of clove. The addition of coffee and orange peel makes it a chaotic and unbalanced taste experience. Food pairing: No, no, no. This is a bad match, no doubt about that. The incoherent taste of Julebryg 2019 does not match this dish at all! Perhaps Christmas cookies could work with this craft beer🤔 #julebryg2019 #orbek_bryggeri #bock 💰 30 DKK | 🏪 @superbrugsen (Brandrupdam) (her: Ørbæk Bryggeri) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6EGuHSlecb/?igshid=qunx97dmf99d

Let's see how Herslev Bryghus handles the Christmas beer😄 Beer: The taste experience is malty (small notes of caramel) with a little orange peel bitterness and some some spices in the end. Fine red ale. Food-pairing: For those who haven't visited Denmark, make sure you try "flæskesteg" (roasted pork), when you do. Herslev Juleøl with flæskesteg (and the rest) is an okay combination. The taste of orange peel does not suit the dish (my fault for incorrect pairing 🤷‍♂️). #herslevjuleøl #herslev_bryghus #redale 💰 49,50 DKK | 🏪@kongchristianx (her: Herslev Bryghus) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6BmeHkl7Io/?igshid=1n0jklr939ws9
