Week 12- Critique

Notes from Alex:

Full bleed = more immersive

Cinemas 7-12 crop the top to focus on the lettering

Some cropping in a few images would work well

Close up of trump

Small details would be really nice Dust on the floor

Its got a lot of depth and range

Game on could be cropped and rotated

Last image is a bit grainy

Joel says the text should be limited

Small test plus image ???

Emil thinks the text is really powerful and useful But it’s about how you use it

Text could be more engaging

New Research

After writing about the story of sky world, i learnt quite a bit about the owner James Kwak in Jnj Management. After watching this video it revealed a lot of the reasons why sky world has declined since the change of ownership.

Photobook research

I spent some time looking at photo books on Mackbooks.co.uk

I really liked this one called positive illusions. I was drawn to this one specifically because of the vibrant colour.

I was also drawn to this one particually because it is similar to my own photobook, in terms of heaps of text and colour.

Week 10 Peer Critique (from Alex)

Title could be changed but he Iikes it

Strong images Don’t need a huge number of them just need to be powerful

Too many colours 1-2 colours He loved the blue colour match ie NEON

Week 10 - work in progress (photobook)

A rough overview of my photobook so far. Ive mapped out which images will be used in the final, but still deciding on a few extras (plus editing some). The writing throughout the photobook will follow a sequence from the design and opening of sky world -through the years it thrived -to its downfall - to its current state and future. These pages will be all written in my own writing but based off research ive found about the story of sky world.

Peer feedback Week 9

This week i talked to alex and grace about my progress and test formats. I showed them my photo essay trial, and photo book trial and told them that i am heading towards a photo book. Alex suggested to add some red pages/ blocks of colour in throughout my photobook along side the purple colours i had already in it. This would tie in nicely with my images, and the colours that pop in it.

Going forward i need to finish my text/ writing that will go in beside my images, as well as captions and titles. This will help tie everything in together.

Testing colour pallets - Week 9

Today i used some of my best photos to figure out the main colours in the images which could be a cohesive colour theme throughout my photobook.

Trouble in paradise library visit

After visiting the exhibition in the library, i found many things quite inspiring. I particularly enjoyed the way the exhibition was displayed, the way it was hung kind of organically. The horizon line being in line in some of the images was a really smart feature that brang the exhibition together nicely. I thought that the images at the top was what grabbed my attention the most, because it was the biggest and had no border. I thought that it was quite fun, going up several floors to find sections of the series, rather than it being all in one spot. I think it gave it more of an interactive feel to it/ more mystery.

Week 9 testing a photo essay format:

I played around in indesign making a photo essay template with some of my photos and adding text boxes beneath them. It was good testing out this format to see how i like it compared to a photobook.

I dont think this will be my final deliverable, but it was good to test it out with my own images
