Me, watching my kitten hold still for a suspiciously long time: Ollie, are you peeing on my floor?
Ollie: Not
Me: Are you sure?
Ollie, grunting through time and space to push out a chocolate mcmuffin wider than he is tall: Not

It's very easy to talk about how fkin' mad Stanley is during this part of the series, and he is, but...
I think he'd honestly also be pretty disappointed if Senku wasn't at least this difficult to foil.
This is Xeno's protege! Someone whose brilliance Xeno is impressed by and whom Xeno respects. If he couldn't hack it, that's just embarrassing, really.
And every time Stan makes a move here, he's obviously intended for it to go well, but fully prepared for it not to. He already has the backup plan in place, and the next move set up and ready to go. Nothing he does has a singular purpose. He's setting everything up to give himself as many options as possible in the future because he doesn't know exactly what Senku's going to do, but he's not about to underestimate his opponent. Senku already slipped past him once.
The rest of his crew does, a few times, and Stanley always shuts it down, reminding them that these kids are clever, that Senku is very capable, and that anything they think is impossible simply isn't.
And I love that Stanley's extremely confident but not overconfident. He knows what he's capable of, he knows he's brilliant and skilled and excellent at, like, everything. But he's not an impulsive fool, and he's not so arrogant as to think he can't be beaten—because that's how you get beaten.
And this is Xeno's Special Li'l Guy. How rude it would be for him to let Xeno down.
