Going nuts lately thinking about which characters in Black Sails are tormented by internalized homophobia and which ones just....aren't. Max has never been conflicted or hung up on her own sexuality for one second. Anne has to do two whole murders about it. Somehow Eleanor is entirely at peace with being the world's most unfortunate bisexual? John Silver would literally die before admitting he wants to smooch another dude. Thomas Hamilton is so famously without shame the writers made it half of his characterization. Flint's sexual hangups drive the entire plot.

flint eleanor awkward s1 scene you’ll always be legendary. Eleanor’s uncomfortably eroticized daddy issues on full display for all to see. Flint hearing her basically quote thomas verbatim at him in the pit of his desperation and looking at her like damn girl you sound alot like my inspirational dead bf rn. Then remembering he’s gay while she’s giving his sad drunk ass bedroom eyes and that she is unfortunately not his dead bf after all but instead a young woman he knew since she was a teen yet also respects despite her messiness. The affectionate forehead kiss nobody in the audience was expecting. Eleanor quietly processing that not only did she want to fuck her father figure crush. But he didn’t. The “wtf just happened”. The straightbaiting of it all. 10/10 all around
