MOON PHASES + NATAL MOON PHASE The moon phase you are born in has a lasting impact on your personality. When we understand the phases of the moon, we are better able to live by the moon and understand the energy that is already flowing. If you jump into a body of water that has fast moving water, fighting against it isn't advised. You can also use this same energy to plan your goals, meet your objectives, shine in the meetings and then take effective rest that allows you to avoid burn out.
FIRE/AIR SIGNS ARE YANG. EARTH/WATER SIGNS ARE YIN
ACTIVITIES DURING MOON PHASES
NEW MOON: Dream a new dream, align with your soul purpose, use your imagination, set intentions, plant energetic seeds into consciousness, listen to inner guidance. What do I want to create?
CRESCENT MOON: Create an action plan, get pen to paper, make lists, to do lists, take steps. How can I manifest dreams into form?
FIRST QUARTER MOON: Take action, check off the boxes, be fully present, attitude of gratitude, act like it already happened, get practical, grow your dream. What needs strong roots?
GIBBOUS MOON: Check your progress, recommit and focus your energy, trim the fat. What needs energetic pruning?
FULL MOON: Dream comes to fruition, celebrate success, dream's purpose is revealed. What is being illuminated?
DISSIMINATING MOON: Harvest results, share the fruits of labor, communicate with allies, share your wisdom. What have you learned and can now teach?
LAST QUARTER MOON: Focus on completion, tie up the loose ends, accept the results and reach closure, release the attachments of the monthly cycle. What has been released for me to grow?
BALSAMIC MOON: End of the cycle, express gratitude to soul and spirit, move into inner stillness, surrender, rest, accept nurturance. Sacred space of the soul- BE HERE NOW.
Create a life of abundant living by "doing" at yang moon and "being" in yin moon.

CANCER NEW MOON
Beautiful Luna rested in her dark moon phase in the sign of Cancer, home to comfort and motherly nurturance. Each phase of the moon carries a degree of the zodiac that it is sitting within. This moon sits at 14 degrees so we can easily look at our chart to see what house it will pass. Each person will experience this moon differently and some may not have any planets in the 14th degree of Cancer or touch any other planets, thereby making it a moon phase that doesn't have as much of an impact. I will post a video on Instagram and save it to my highlights so you can see how to access this part of your chart at any time.
This moon will make a square to Lilith and the North Node but in different signs. Lilith is in Libra and the North Node is in Aries. These are sister signs because they are opposites. This as a whole leaves the collective self-reflective and ready for significant transformation. Those born with their North Node in Aries (1967-1969, 1986-1987, 2004-2006, 2023-2024) are experiencing a chance to reinforce the purpose of their soul by going after their own self-development, life direction and purpose. Lilith in Libra will bring us face to face with our partnerships and relationships and the way that we show up in them. What about that dark side of ourselves that we don't reallly want to show to others? How do we balance the relationship to ourselves and to those around us? How to we make sure to follow WHAT it is we truly desire, while also being present and loving WHO we truly desire. The moon, our emotional responses, are tested during this time, represented by the square. How do we respond when we don't get what we want? How do we respond when our partner isn't understanding us in the way we wish they would? When answering these questions, don't only use the Libra energy of pointing to the "other" in these scenarios. Make sure to use the Arian energy of taking responsibility and seeing yourself clearly to make sure you can change what you have control over. Take everything else in stride and understand that others are also dealing with their own issues and projections.

Spiders have woven their way through the tapestry of human history, embodying intricate webs of symbolism across diverse cultures and literary works since the beginning of time. From the delicate balance between creation and destruction to the mysterious dance of fate, spiders evoke both awe and fear. Observed as celestial weavers shaping destinies or feared as omens of impending darkness, these creatures have long fascinated humanity. What exactly is the message behind the spider?

The mythology of the spider goes back to ancient Greek and Egyptian stories of the spider being the weaver of the world. West African, Indigenous and even Norse mythology supports idea that the spider was a creative goddess who used strength and her interconnectedness in life to transform. It has been said that the spider created the alphabet and taught us "spelling." Seems pretty magical. Let's discuss one of the myths really quick.
So, there was a mortal named Arachne. Her dad was a man in the Asia Minor (near Turkey) with all the best dyes, especially purple which was a hard color to come by and meant strictly for the gods. As she grew in her craft, Arachne created linens and intricately woven tapestries. She wasn't just an ordinary weaver. It was as if her hands danced within the loom and created stories that impacted the fates of those who wore her clothing.
As Arachne grew in her craft, the townspeople started to compare her to Athena, the daughter of Zeus and goddess of wisdom and weaving. Now a quick little something about Athena. She was NOT a girl's girl. She was wholeheartedly supporting the patriarchy at the time and led a battle of the Titans, giving her father strategy to win. Zeus, Athena's dad, wasn't just the most powerful god at the time. He BIG DADDY. We were all his sons, if you know what I mean. To be fair, Zeus wasn't the only god running around being forceful with his love-taking and often disguising themselves as revered animals to be more accepted by the woman they were in pursuit of.
Athena finds out about Arachne's bold confidence in claiming she was a much better weaver over Athena. While Athena could have approached this mortal, in her war gear with Medusa's head full of snakes embroidered onto her cloak, eternally petrifying her.
Instead, Athena disguised herself as an old woman to pay Arachne a visit. She pleaded with Arachne to consider what she had been saying. How dare she say she was better than the daughter of Zeus! Arachne didn't care one bit. In fact, she Donald Trump doubled down on it. This angered Athena so much she dropped her disguise immediately and challenged Arachne to a tapestry weaving contest. Arachne sealed her own fate, offering to accept any punishment Athena deemed appropriate should she lose the contest.
Athena began weaving a tapestry with the corners filled with stories of how the gods felt about mortals' over-confidence and lack of respect to the gods. She then included the few times her mother, Hera, petrified humans in the past.
Arachne made an entire tapestry dedicated to outing the gods' sexually deviant behavior and lack of morality despite demanding worship from the mortals. Not only did Arachne embarrass the gods but also did it in a beautiful and impeccable design. Athena even acknowledged the beauty and flawlessness of Arachne's work while simultaneously being outraged that she would make that public knowledge with no remorse in sight.
In a fit of rage, Athena destroyed Arachne's tapestry and loom. Now he is where the story goes two ways. Some say that Athena tormented Arachne until Arachne hung herself with her threads. Other accounts show that Athena did physically hurt Arachne with the intentions of killing her only to have pity. She acquired a potion from Hekate that turned Arachne into a spider, being forced to weave for all of eternity.
What do we learn as humans on a spiritual level? Where can we weave parts of ourselves into humanity? How do we weave ourselves into the things we create and what is the lasting image we leave?
MESSAGE FROM THE SPIDER:
Haste makes waste.
See things from another perspective.
Weaving Intuitive Thoughts Can Heal- W.I.T.C.H.

ASTRO BASICS: MODALITIES
To keep it simple, the modality is the quality of the behavior and responses to stimuli. As we previously discussed, polarities divide the zodiac into two distinct groups: yin/yang, giving/receiving, positive/negative charge. The signs are further broken down by the FOUR elements, THREE signs a piece, called triplicities. Last, the signs are broken down by THREE modes, FOUR signs a piece.
Imagine a zodiac chart as a wheel. We can break down the three parts of the wheel and find a correlation to the astrological concept of modality. Modality is essentially how we act under pressure or tension. It is how the energy of the planet moves within us. Cardinal signs begin new things, Fixed signs sustain things, and Mutable energy loosens structures and adapts it to new and changing conditions.
The rim of the wheel is the CARDINAL signs. It is what is moving first when the wheel begins to move. Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn all initiate the start of their respective season. Aries begins spring, Cancer is the start of summer, Libra brings us into fall while Capricorn begins our journey into winter. These signs all carry characteristics of starting, initiating change. These are the self-starters that really use crisis to begin something new. This energy radiates outward and is always starting something, not necessarily to finish it. That is where fixed signs come in.
The hub of the wheel is represented by FIXED signs. It is the stability that helps the wheel to keep moving. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius hold almost stubbornly to stability. Often late because things will move at their pace. Taurus moves slow, Leo enjoys an entrance, Scorpio uses their pace to their advantage while Aquarius wanted things on their own terms anyway. These signs show their strength through loyalty and consistency. Allow these signs time to change and prepare for the shifts.
The spokes of the wheel are the MUTABLE signs. Just like the spokes, mutable signs are the most exposed to their environment. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces have no problem moving from thing to thing. They help create the movement necessary to allow Cardinal signs to begin again. Being flexible and tolerant can bring a weakening of mental or physical boundaries and that is the lesson for mutable signs.
This chart is great to copy down in your journal to not only see how the elements and modes make up each astrological sign's description but to get a memorization of the symbols for decoding charts.

ASTRO BASICS: POLARITY
Before we begin, I would like to clarify explicitly that from here on out in my writings, I am not speaking biology or gender when I say masculine/feminine. I am also not speaking about a good or bad person when I say a positive trait or a negative trait. There will not be any spiritual bypassing that indicates the negative functioning as evil must stand beside the positive functioning as joy. I am strictly speaking astrologically in the yin/yang function. The poles of giving and receiving rather.
It seems like in the last 5 years being asked about your big three has taken over social media. The same way everyone wants to share their Sun, Moon and Rising sign is the same way each astrological sign has its own big three. To understand any astrological sign completely, you need to inherently understand its element, polarity and modality. Each one of these is going to give the signs more life and vitality and we can see how humans carrying that energy will typically respond to certain stimuli.
The principle of Yin and Yang from Chinese philosophy is that all things exist as inseparable and contradictory opposites. The pairs of equal opposites both attract and complement each other. Neither is superior to the other and, as an increase in one brings a corresponding decrease in the other, a correct balance between the two poles must be reached in order to achieve harmony. Air feeds fire. Water feeds the earth. These are the poles of astrology at work.
Polarity splits the zodiac in two. Modality splits the zodiac in three and elements split the zodiac in four. The diagram below is from Myrna Lofthus' Spiritual Approach to Astrology and gives a fantastic image of how each sign expresses through their element, polarity and modality.

ASTRO BASICS: THE ELEMENTS
The best way to jump into astrology is with both feet. Grab the journal and colorful pens you got the other day. This is going to be where you can take notes to begin organizing the elements, signs, planets, houses and keywords that are going to continue to build upon one another. The pictures posted below are things you can copy into your journal. The best way to remember is to do it in your own handwriting. This isn't just memorizing terms. This is also work in symbolism and understanding how the Esoterics had to communicate in the early centuries.

Copy the above image in your own handwriting. These are the first and oldest symbols we will be working with. This correlates closely with Tarot in that the Minor Arcana is broken down into four sections organized by elements. Fire is represented by the wands. Earth is represented by the pentacles. Air is represented by the swords. Water is represented by the cups. The best symbol to explain the elements together is the pentagram. This has long been viewed as an evil symbol or that others are signaling their allegiance to witchcraft with the pentagram. Simply untrue, the pentagram has long been a symbol for man. The five points of the star symbolizing the makeup of man. Spirit is the fifth element, or the quintessence as its definition in Latin. Often in astrology and tarot texts, there are only symbols for the elements. My notes in black ink above created an example easy enough for elementary students to know which symbol is for each element.
These elements are based on our primary response to most things. Our response to most things in life is to act, to analyze, to gain something or to feel.

FIRE ENERGY
Fire is a very useful, if not the most useful tool man has available to him. The Sun in included in that energy. It provides light, warmth and the conditions needed to grow food for survivability. Think of a fire uncontained. It is completely unmanageable and often the destruction is rampant. Eventually that fire could even turn on itself and put itself out.
Fire is the force of Spirit, an active life force that animates and energizes. Fire is the identity principle, trying to realize itself. One of the most important astrology principles is that any positive point when exaggerated can become negative. Enthusiastic and impulsive behaviors scream of the native's courage and vitality to live life to the fullest. The primary response of fire signs is to act. They are the epitome of do first, ask questions later. Considering facts or feelings is not what fire energy does. In this we can see how someone's idealism can also swing to the other pole of being a fanatic of one's own ideas, unwilling to cooperate.
EARTH ENERGY
The Earth herself is a very deeply layered and complex organism. So much of the Earth is buried within herself as we only see the top layer of dirt and grass. Earth energy is security in materiality. However, the Earth shows us time and again that we can pollute and use her resources thinking we are building a future. Only for Earth to shake and rumble and swallow up what humans try to form out of her crust.
Man is ultimately a builder, and we learn our lessons of consciousness through our experiences on Earth. Man's strongest instincts will always be to create something out of matter to prove his existence. For earth energy, this is building up of their resources, their physical body or their home and foundations. The primary response of earth signs is to gain something through experiences.
AIR ENERGY
It is the mind that sets humans apart from animals. The way we communicate and express our breath of life is specific to us. Thoughts become structures that we can then communicate to make social and intellectual connections. Air is the second most important to fire. It is a collective element that unites all humans and animals together. Our atmosphere is extremely important to Earth as it protects us from harmful rays, radioactive particles and meteors. The atmosphere is also a conductor of radio waves by which humans have communicated for centuries. Air being an element of the mind is significant to understand the layers. There is more than one way to communicate and think. I would argue the mind is man's most important tool. This will tie later into our section on manifestation as we can take each element to bring our dreams and goals to reality.
WATER ENERGY
The element of water corresponds to the emotional realm of feelings and intuition. Water is a powerful force on this planet. It covers over 70 percent of the mass of this planet. As scientists discovered recently, an ocean under the Earth's crust could provide more clues to the evolution of our planet. No other planet in our solar system has the water supply that we do. Man's body is also 70% water showing our likeness to Mother Nature.
Water is the "universal solvent." It can dissolve more substances that any other liquid known to man. The energy of water itself is so changeable. You can freeze it, steam it, liquify it and it can take on any shape, evaporate or flow. This is not unlike the emotions and soul energy of man. Emotions can be happy, sad, joyful or nostalgic. In order to be effective, water must know it's limitations.
Now that we have an understanding of the elements, we can build up to understanding the signs of astrology. Before we do that, jot down these journal prompts below and really let the element energy soak into your mind. You'll be able to reference these questions in the future as we breakdown the natal chart.

JOURNAL PROMPTS:
What element do I connect most with?
What element am I disconnected from?
How am I most practical?
What can I be most enthusiastic about?
How can I best communicate the way I feel right now?
How well do I check in with my emotions and regulate accordingly?

GET SOME PAPER, GET A PEN, LET'S BEGIN
The most efficient way to learn astrology is to start from the literal ground up and categorize things accordingly. It is scientifically proven that writing things down at least once as you are learning helps your brain to cement the information.
"A 2022 systematic review conducted by a doctoral student at the University of Louisville combined data from 33 studies to evaluate whether taking notes by hand versus typing affected how students performed on tests. The review found that students who took handwritten notes scored significantly higher on quizzes about that material compared to students who typed notes." - Psychology Today
Approaching a new study such as astrology, which uses psychology and a set of pre-programed symbols and archetypes, with an organized map is helpful.
The best way to learn this new skill is to make it fun for yourself. I am a journal and pen aficionado. I am obsessed with the look and feel of fresh ink on new paper. Find one that fits you and your energy. It doesn't have to be fancy. Plenty of composition books can be found at the dollar store. Use different colors of pens or markers to distinguish different elements in a pattern for your mind.
The biggest thing about astrology is organizing the symbols in your own mind that can remind you of what the "message" is. This is a discovery into yourself. If your motivation to learn astrology is to better understand yourself and your own motivations or patterns of behavior, the results will be so beneficial. I am not really here to teach you how to make a business out of it. I can, however, teach you ways to make the most out of your quest to unlock your own destiny. After 13 weeks, you should be able to look at your birth chart, transit chart or progressions and understand the planets, houses and aspects by the symbols on the chart.
One more tidbit until next time- enjoy yourself. This isn't a race to see how quickly you can absorb the information. It is really about how well you can piece together the puzzle within your soul. It is about a willingness to learn better ways to communicate, to plan, to rest, and to see noticeable wanted changes within your personal cosmic world.

For those who don't already know, my name is Erin. My passion for astrology, writing and art has led me here to share what I can in an easily digestible way. Astrology is an old language of symbols, archetypes and stories that can help us understand ourselves in a deeper way. Gaining in popularity over the last 10+ years, astrology is in every facet of our lives. Everyone speaks of the eclipses, the new and full moons and our sun sign horoscopes. The actual art of astrology is the practice of reading the movements and patterns of the planets and correlating them with life on earth.
There are so many self-made astrologers all throughout the internet and social media. How could you find someone trustworthy enough that you may never have met in person to read your chart in an empathetic and empowering way? It is a difficult task for sure.
Over the last 9 years, I have read over 300 charts. Many clients I continue to read transit or synastry charts each year. The last 4 years specifically I have tried to create a way that each client can simply learn the basics for themselves so that they do not need to pay someone to do their self-discovery work. Sure, it is easier and nice to have a conversation with someone and move on about your chart. But, if you are truly interested in self-discovery, learning your chart in your own intimately personal way and understanding your own ebbs and flows through life, your own timing for projects and your own understanding of transits will provide a greater depth to knowing yourself.
While money is a necessary tool we need in this life, I am not motivated by it. I genuinely enjoy the teaching aspect of helping someone understand the language of astrology and watch them apply it to their own life. My goal with this page is to create a fun and easy learning environment with pretty words and pictures.
Also, interacting within this platform or others, as I am on Instagram and Threads, is always welcome. Ask questions, get involved and let's flow through this thing called life together.
