The 4-year-old iPhone, is it still worth the buy? Released September 2013, The iPhone 5s is yet one of the most promising phone of its year, Sporting the infamous aluminum body from its predecessor, it also is one of the first few smartphones to include a fingerprint security feature for unlocking the phone and confirming purchases from the app store. Sounds fancy? If you're stuck in 2013, probably. But it's 2017 and Giants have already released their bestest, from The Samsung Galaxy S8 to Google Pixel Devices, Can this four year old four inch device still measure up to your needs in 2017? So let's start with what's bad, Personally I do not find anything bad with this phone except for its a.) Battery and B.) Screen Size a.)1560 mAh battery? Sounds like its from a 2012 android smartphone but it is indeed the battery capacity of this little giant. I know back then this would be an ample amount of battery for a smartphone running iOS (which is super battery friendly btw) and not a oh-so-consuming hardware down the core. But we do need to remember that some apps especially as time goes by requires not only more space but also battery to run some improvements and updates. Which is why if you're still using the 5s upto now and still got a bunch of updated apps, I bet you're having trouble with your battery lasting not more than 5 hours of complete usage. B.) Our smartphones aren't only solely for calling and texting, of course it does come with bunch of features for our life's leisures, and the screen plays a major league on this one, Imagine playing your NBA 2K17, watching your fave movies and others in a 4 inch screen, I mean probably most of you (esp with gigantic hands like me would go 'woah' on this one) at a price range of 150-200$ for a 4 year old phone, there would be still be a lot of other phones to consider if you're not satisfied with your 4-inch buddy without going tremendously beyond your preferred budget range, This matter can either be a good thing for others though, as they also prefer smaller screens for reachability during one hand usage. JUST. AS. WHAT. APPLE. MARKETED. IT. FOR. LOL So here comes the goodies A.) iOS 11 - Yep, You've read it right, apple confirmed It's supporting the iPhone 5s among its roster for eligibility to get a taste of the latest iOS (R.I.P iPhone 5 and 5c), ever since apple did their app store app shifting of obsoleting 32-bit apps, it hints that only 64-bit devices will only be eligible for the next iOS, and luckily for the 5s, the first iphone with a 64-bit processor, they're still on the pool of victors ๐ B.) Camera - 8 MP, f/2.2, 29mm, autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, just good on paper? No. For years apple have proven their quality when it comes to the camera game, their iSight lens plus their Retina displays make a good par for budding photographers or selfie addicts. C.) Screen - as mentioned, it still counts if you can do more with one hand, having a taller but not wider 4-inch display, you can reach each end of this device with your thumb at ease. D.) LTE - Though you still have a lot of devices to consider with the same spec sheet, remember that this phone even from 2013 supports LTE, which is not so usual during its era. E.) Fingerprint - No two finger prints are alike. Kind of explains it, security is most important for our smartphones and locking it with the key on our fingertips is pretty awesome. Right? So what's the decision? Yep, I'd still recommend it, there are backlashes, yes. But Apple is a keeper and unlike google who supports multiple brands and devices, Apple has a lot of space to improve and focus on supporting its devices (as long as it can) and as for the 5s, it still can do as much as you'd expect it. Thanks for reading! Have a nice day
