Every day I could weep thinking about Yukina spending her whole child being forced to repress her emotions - finally escaping to find her twin brother (supposedly the one person who should understand her better than anyone), only to get immediately kidnapped and put into a position where she’s forced to repress her emotions or have her pain profited from.

I seriously worry that her cheerful and easygoing demeanor is (at least in part) a deeply ingrained trauma response that no one’s addressing. And the person best fit to help her address it (and teach her how to get mad and fiercely defend her boundaries) is the brother who won’t go near her, due to his own trauma from the same people who traumatized her.

Episode 40 in a nutshell

There’s something so interesting to me about how Keiko and Kuwabara are the only two in the main cast who knew pre-series Yusuke. Especially in how they know him.

Like, Keiko’s known him since they were little and they’ve been close ever since, right? She was there before Yusuke started closing off from everyone, before those walls and hardness came in. Before their relationship grew strained and he tried to push her away too. Before she was the one getting him in class and telling him to be responsible and fighting with him, and watching as he started coasting through life rather then living it while she tries to hold on.

And Kuwabara didn’t meet Yusuke until junior high, he didn’t have that deep history with Yusuke that Keiko did. But he still fought him, again and again. He fought this guy who showed him the worst, literally beating him unconscious and he didn’t know Yusuke that much but he still wanted to know Yusuke and be his friend. Still saw someone he admired. Someone who he’d mourned.

I don’t know where I was going with this but I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it’s really interesting to me, as is pre-series yusuke as a whole.

characters my brain imprinted on at age 11

did some egg decorating with my mom and my gf today, and so here i am with some yu yu hakusho eggs i made!

first up was ~the jaganshi egg~ which absolutely took the longest. but im in love with hiei so i had to go all out <3 woulda been nice to have white-out or something so i coulda done the eyes with that instead of the clear crayon used before dyeing, but oh well!

then a kurama themed one, based on his rose whip! i had fun doing the vine/thorn swirl hehe

a puu for yusuke! and a simple kuwabara themed one with his pompadour LOL

finally a vaguely botan themed egg! i planned to do some cloud designs on it, but accidentally made the white strip thinner than i wanted to, so i just kinda messed around with it!
