You have got to stop referring to video games, fiction, drawings, etc. as "CSAM."

This defeats the entire purpose of the term "CSAM" (child sexual abuse material) which is that it's material of a child being sexually abused. The term was coined by anti-CSAM advocates because this material was being called "child porn," and it's not "porn." "Porn" generally refers to fiction, and CSAM is not fiction. It's real footage of real children being really abused.

"CSAM" is to "child abuse" as "snuff film" is to "murder." It is real filmed violence against a real human person. Games/drawings/fiction depiction child abuse as a plot point in a work of fiction are to child abuse as, e.g., murder mysteries are to murder. It's a fictional story in a fictional medium. No real human people are harmed in its production. You can argue -- and many people do -- about whether the fictional depiction "sends a bad message" or whatever, but it is not, literally, a snuff film or CSAM.

Referring to fiction as "CSAM" not only needlessly gives cover to moral panic and censorship; it also completely dilutes the harm of CSAM. The harm of CSAM is not that it's morally bad media that sends a bad message. The harm is that real human people are abused in its production.

people are so quick to compare kris' situation in deltarune to demonic possession, but in my opinion it's a lot closer to sainthood. having your will imposed on by a greater authority (the player metanarratively, but also carol and potentially others diagetically) with immense pressure on you to succeed, martyring yourself for a cause you can't fully explain to anyone because (you believe) they wouldn't understand, sacrificing your personhood for a "higher purpose", the themes of psychosis and disordered identity and being in a state of stress-induced crisis which were exceedingly common - and an implicit condemnation of the consequences of ignoring or recontextualising them as divine influence instead of making any attempt to meaningfully help the person experiencing them - in so-called saints, the imagery of being a cage for a soul formed of "human parts"... and at the end of it all, you were just an ordinary person whose suffering was retroactively made meaningful (and more palatable) by narrativisation and mythologisation. that's not possession, that's sainthood.

Today I was thinking about disability (which is…not infrequent lmao)

So, when I was a teenager, I had a shitty bike. No matter how many times we took it in for tuneups, no matter what I did, it S-U-C-K-E-D.

And I would bike to meet my girlfriend and then we would bike around (an unimaginable amount of energy now!!!). And I would occasionally complain about how shitty it was, especially when I was struggling to keep up. And my girlfriend would just kinda make fun of me (there are several reasons we are no longer together lol) and tell me I was just bad at riding it.

And then one day…

She tried my bike.

She lasted about a block, and she was cursing the entire time.

I wish I could get people to ride my bike. Mostly doctors, but other people too. Get on my fucking bike. Ride a fucking block. Tell me how this is fine.
