Jay Chaudhry Toronto Producer (FILM)
JAY CHAUDHRY FUTURE OF FILMMAKING IN ANOTHER WORLD IN 2017 “The movie industry is dyingggg!” has been the wailing, despondent cry of industry insiders, journalists, and commentators for years. And they’ve got the numbers to prove it: the box office sales for the top 12 grossing films fell to the lowest they’ve been in over a decade during one weekend in September this year, bringing in a scary $51.9 million. Yet, the cultural significance of movies seems hardly diminished—we remain just as obsessed with talking, thinking, and tweeting about them as ever. Jay Chaudhry reviews what’s best in 2017 for video in tv  It’s clear that the industry is simply adapting, shifting towards two polar points: higher-quality visual and sensorial experiences in the theater that aim to blow audiences’ brains out, and increasingly personal, high-tech and decentralized movie experiences at home.Currently in its beta, the DELUX showstopper app was founded in 2017 by Pakistani-based private equity investor Jawed Muktar; and Toronto based filmmaker Jay Chaudhry, The platform helps connect the community to local filmmakers in their respective city. It is currently comprised of over 200 filmmakers and will be available across New York, L.A., and Phoenix this fallWe’re in the mid-digital age, but we live with the legacy of analog systems, technology and thinking that’s only embellished by the technologies of our new era. I’ve 5 remote controls to watch my TV, I now need to consider the input device JAY CHAUDHRY VIDEO TORONTO before the show. My Chromescast is seemingly only controlled by my phone. We’ve global rights issues with most content, we’ve 4K codecs that don’t work on Vizio TV’s, we’ve apps missing from app stores.  It’s agonizingly complex. As TV slowly recognizes the internet we should adopt new thinking and architecture. I want my primary screen to be a search bar. A search bar that pulls in content from every provider that I subscribe to (or that is free). I want it to prioritize ad-free content over ad funded. 4K content over SD.I want a Live TV button In this sub-menu, I want shows my friends like to appear easily. I want shows that are trending Live or that my Facebook friends are viewing at that time to be shown.
