Okay okay, imagine. A boss rush like in Pizza Tower, like with the epic build up and angry music, but in a souls-like. Like, just imagine how satisfying it would be if like, you had this tiny little shrimp if a character fighting these giant bosses for the whole game, and the whole time they're being kind to people and helping people even as they're subjected to these rigorous boss fights and then at the end they beat the final boss and he reveals himself to be just fine and summons like all the previous bosses and the mc just fucking snaps and throws away their dagger and brings down all the bosses with their bare hands and each hit does half their health bar

A darkness was on the horizon. Everyone knew it. They could feel the death in the air, and recognized it from the prophecy for told many years ago. Something something sword from the stone something something The Goddess.
And you would, theoretically, be the perfect chosen one. Your sense of justice was strong, you had the physical capacity for a quest, and you at the very least had enough charisma to convince one or two people to help you.
But the thing was, you didn't really like The Goddess. Not one bit. Her whole thing with controlling everything always struck you the wrong way. It really tampers with the idea of free will.
So, you decided to mess with The Goddess. You found the stone before some stupid chosen one could, and, believe it or not, you couldn't pull it. You tried everything you could to destroy it, but nothing worked. But, the chosen one would be the one to draw the sword from the stone, right?
So, then and there, you decided. If you had the sword, nobody could pull it from the stone and become the chosen one. You had big muscles, you could do this yourself. So, with a little bit of leather around the blade and a custom sheath, you got yourself a.. hammer? Whatever it was. And you went off to defeat this "dark lord" yourself.
And yet an odd feeling sends chills down your spine. Like you'd been fooled. Like someone was lying to you. You saw through that quickly though, The Goddess was known for compelling people down the right, or rather Her, path. You would take your new weapon and stay the dark lord with it, even if you could feel something smiling smugly at you, just behind you back
...
Wield
The chosen one would wield the stone from the stone

Reminder to my future self reading through my posts after OMT is done: make that game about the main character, who is a hopeless romantic, discovering the beauty of familial and platonic relationships and deciding they don't need some nebulous soulmate to complete them because their real true loves have been at their side the whole time

Y'know, I need a piece of media somewhere that has a morality system that reacts if you kill literally everyone, and I need that game to acknowledge you as wrong, not only because murder is bad, but also because just murdering everyone is SO STUPID
Like, murder should be the nuclear option here, not just because it's evil, but it is so short sighted and comes with so many side effects! Like- oh, you needed help from this person? Well you murdered their dad too bad! Oh, you don't know who's trying to assassinate you? Maybe it's the guy whose brother you murdered! You need the respect of the populace? Good luck getting them to trust a murdered!
And that's only if you kill one guy! Imagine killing every guy, murdering out of convenience! God, it's like nuking every country who shows even the slightest opposition to you and expecting it to be a good game plan! It's like your robot breaking and throwing out the whole thing and replacing it immediately regardless of monetary cost because it involves less fixing! Like, wow if protagonists had the same plot treatment as villains than any pure evil route would be hard mode!
Tldr: murdering every enemy for the sake of convenience is really stupid. Like, logically

So, the game is going to take place over three "playthroughs", right? So, over the course of it, I want the story to gradually overshadow the combat and puzzles and such, but I don't want that all to get obnoxious after you have to do them over and over again, so I was wondering if it would be a good quality of life mechanic to make secret exits of sorts, the kind of thing you can't find on your first run through but would be clear the second time through. For example, maybe you get a tutorial for one of the mechanics required later, or find out what that one symbol means, or like on the second and third playthrough your earn abilities faster so maybe you need to use one of those. Idk
