RSVP: https://TIOF.Click/EventsRSVP AGENDA - Welcome - Introduction to BHR in Tech - Status of BHR in Malaysia - Introduction to DCDR + DCDR framework - Intro on the BHR in Tech Guideline - Intro on the BHR in Tech Brief for Malaysia - Q&A - Closing & Next steps The importance of human rights protection in the use of digital technologies cannot be understated anymore. Almost every day, we hear stories of how the lack of governance mechanisms in tech companies result in the misuse and abuse of users’ data. In Malaysia, recent revelations about a government-mandated COVID-19 surveillance app had sparked conversations around data protection, data ownership and the right to privacy in the age of digital technologies. This is one of the many ways that human rights respect is relevant to the technology sector. As advocates and proponents of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human rights (BHR), we foresee the necessity for a Data-Centric approach to protecting our data to ensure the Rights of our Digital Twins in the digital are as protected as we are in the analogue. In other words, what are the Rights that need to exist (but not yet) to protect ourselves from the potential harms of digital technologies? Be part of the conversation and share in the knowledge!
