“Not sure if it wasn’t a willingness....rather I didn’t have much time.  Once school was done there was the war, and then I was dead, so, not much chance then.”  James smiled slightly and shrugged.  “Still, I’d agree.  People should take more time for nature and animals.”

He chuckled at that. “I know, I just… Wasn’t sure if you’d believe me at first.” Albus smiled softly. “You will, I’ve already been brought up on wonderful stories about you, as was my dad. I would love that, yes!”

“That’s fair.”  James nodded a little and gave him another smile.  “This place has been full of miracles so far, so I’d pretty much believe anything at this point. Though wonderful stories may be a touch exaggerated.  I hope I don’t disappoint.”  James gave him a playful wink before grinning. “Alright, coffee it is then!  There’s a place not too far.”

Albus nodded, smiling shyly. “Yeah, my parents are Harry and Ginny.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Unfortunately the same could be said for you… I’ve always wanted to meet you.”

“I did only ever have one son, so I did assume you were Harry’s.”  James grinned, only teasing.  “Yeah?  Well, hopefully I can live up to the expectation then.”  His smile softened, nodding towards a cafe.  “Want to grab a coffee?  Get to know one another a bit?”

.｡.:*☆ “You mean, me faling from the sky like a stone? Yeah, for sure not very pleasant. Couldn’t even land on my paws, I am not cat, after all.”

he shrugged and then grinned. “But, hey, let us get the bike first, okay? We can still worry about the spell later.” 

“And being that Stags are flightless, I can’t exactly assist either.”  He laughed a bit before shaking his head.  “We’ll figure it out though.  Hopefully Lily will help.”

Grinning, he nodded.  “Bike first, spell later.  Lets see what we can find.”

“No, but I wasn’t ever one to try to understand creatures fully...though I suppose it depended on the animal.”

.｡.:*☆ “And, it was this big, and…..” Arthur made a gesture with his hands before bursting into laugher. “Alright, maybe not this big. But, I do hate spiders, okay? and this one did literally stare me into the eyes! I swear!” 

James chuckled and shook his head. “They’re not terrible creatures!  But they do have a habit of staring.  Were you able to clear it out?”

“Of course he won, he’s our son.” She didn’t know that much about him yet, but Lily was sure he’d have all the best parts of both of them. Just hopefully not the worst parts too. “I know, you’re right. I’m trying. I even talked to Sev again.” She wanted to rebuild a life here with the people she loved, she just didn’t know how. “We’ll work this out together.”

“I admire that surety.”  Especially since they themselves hadn’t won, but James was nonetheless pleased Harry had made it through alive.  “You did?  I did too.  Didn’t even murder each other.”  He chuckled a little bit before nodding. “We will, I’ve no doubt.  Everything will be fine now that we’re together.”

Albus nodded at that, smiling softly. “Coffee sounds good.” He’d come to enjoy it since arriving in Limbo. “I uh… Sort of. My name’s Albus. I’m Harry’s son. I take it you have met him already, right?”

“Perfect.”  James smiled at the man easily before listening to him continue, his eyebrows lifting in surprise.  “So, you’re my grandson?  Wow this place is wild.”  He grinned, shaking his head.  “And to think a month ago I never would’ve fathomed you could exist.  It’s a pleasure to meet you Albus.”

Albus smiled softly at the sight of the other. “Hello… I uh… I was wondering if perhaps you’re free to talk?” He figured now was a good a time as ever to meet his grandfather.

James had stopped when the male approached, something about his look feeling intentional.  When he spoke, James smiled, giving an easy nod.  “Of course! Would you like to grab a coffee or something?  I am..assuming you know me?”

.｡.:*☆ “Or, maybe we could transform one - you know, with another item, and the right spell. I am just not sure if that would really work out, on the long run…” Sirius missed his old bike. He had been getting it soon after the last school year, an old one that needed a lot of work, but it had made him very happy.

“Lily would be able to tell, maybe. She is the clever one in our gang, after all.”

“We could, but that is risky. We’d want the spell to hold, and if it failed or fell apart while you were driving it that could end very poorly. I’d like to avoid that end for you Sirius.” James chuckled before shrugging. “I’m sure they have them here.  Maybe even an older one you can tweak and rework yourself.”

James smiled softly and nodded. “She is the wiser of us, but we can take some clever credit.  We did create our Marauder’s map after all.”

“I suppose depending on what you go through in life, you kind of get out of it. I’ve learned to not be so trusting the older I got.”

“Also wise.  And a lesson I learned the hard way. Sounds like you’re learning the smarter life lessons early.”

.｡.:*☆ “Do you actually think it would be safe to start feeding a monster living under your bed?” The wizard asked, brows deeply furrowed in confusion. “I mean, it could possibly bite off your hand, one day… otherwise, it could maybe eat your car, if you let it starve….” 

“Um, I can’t say I’ve thought about it?  I’d assume the monster under my bed would have fended for myself.”

“You’re fine, I did share.”  James smiled softly at her and shrugged. “Lessons learned I suppose. Don’t be a dick anymore. Thankfully I’d like to think I’ve grown out of that stage.”

.｡.:*☆ “I was very lucky, I guess,” Bill gave James a nod. “Also with my wife still deciding to stay with me. Remus had told me a lot about the curse, and all, so, for a while, I had already been prepared to live off potions for the rest of my existence.”

“I would hope your wife would stay with you, even if you had been turned.  It’s a condition, but you’re still the man she fell for.”  James tended to get rather vehement about that point, always hating the prejudice Remus had received.  “I’m glad you don’t though. I’ve read it’s a gross potion.”

“He still had to fight Voldemort.” While she was proud of her son for doing what they hadn’t been able to, Lily was still upset he’d had to go through that. No child should ever have to. “I know I’ve been a bit… stupid about all this. Our friends are older, our son grew up without us, nothing makes sense.” 

“Yes, but he won.  And that’s more than any of the rest of us were able to do.” James smiled a little, still trying to see some bright side to the situation.  All of it felt bleak and crushing, but now that Lily, Sirius, and Remus were there, he knew he couldn’t break down like he would’ve if he was alone.  “It doesn’t, but...we’re here now, and all we can do is move forward.  Take care of our son now how we can and make sure nothing else could happen if it comes to it.”

“Well, the last time I caused lasting trauma it was so deeply held onto I ended up dead as well as my wife, so...I don’t really want a repeat of younger mistakes.”

.｡.:*☆ “Alright then.” Sirius figured there were worse ways to spend his afternoon, even though the sight of his best friend was still hard to handle. Everything they went through, only to be both up and alive now…

“I am still poor, though, so not sure if I would actually be able to buy one right from the spot.” 

‘Then we’ll just look, and figure out if there’s one you could like.”  James smiled a bit, knowing he could likely buy the other a motorbike if they found one.  He wouldn’t say that, and knew Sirius might try to stop it, but he had plenty saved up.
