Someone said to me today that it was unfair I was born autistic because I didn’t choose to be born this way. Yes that’s right I didn’t choose to be born autistic, but I don’t find the fact that I was unfair and I am not unhappy about being born with a differently wired brain. That in itself is not a problem and is not unfair, but I’ll tell you exactly what I do find unfair:
I find it unfair that I was born into a world that doesn’t understand me and fears me.
I find it unfair that no one listened to my parents and I went 12 years undiagnosed all because I’m a girl.
I find it unfair that I get treated differently from the people around me.
I find it unfair that I am mocked and laughed at for showing my autistic traits.
I find it unfair that the abuse autistic people face is turned into memes and no one sees a problem with that.
I find it unfair that I am punished for traits I can’t control.
I find it unfair that I am less likely to be given opportunities in life because whenever I mention my autism people become scared of me and don’t want to deal with me.
I find it unfair that I am forced to fit into neurotypical’s standers and I am punished for not doing so.
I find it unfair that I have to live in an ableist society and be treated horribly all because my brain is wired differently.

One of the worst things I learnt whilst trying to figure out social interaction was that I'm friends with so many people but that doesn't mean they're friends with me.

autistic culture is never being quite sure whether you were actually being rude/implying things without meaning to, or some asshole is wildly misinterpreting what you say and then getting mad at you for something completely unrelated to what you actually said
