Week 13 Videogame Fanart This one is from Nino Kuni 1 and 2. Blue is dressed as Oliver and Gold is dressed as Evan. They each have their corresponding fairies, familiars and Higgledies. They were the first games from the Studio Ghibli animation studio (known for spirited away, Howls moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro... etc.) . Ive been in love with Ghibli movies since I was a little kid so when I heard they were coming out with a videogame I was so excited, and they didnt let me down. The first game is about oliver, a boy from our world whose doll comes to life and tells him he is the only hope for the magical world. So he travels to the world of magic and becomes a wizard and sets out to fix peoples broken hearts and defeat the evil Dark One. Its a mix of turn based and comvat. You can fight with Oliver or use "familiars" which are alot like pokemon. Its very cheesy and juvenile, but thats half its charm. The storyline takes up alot of the game but uts lile playing a ghibli movie so it was worth it for me. Animated cut scenes in the Ghibli style make it really unique. Awesome tale of friendship and the battle between light and darkness. The second is a bit different. No more animated cut scenes but the fighting style is non turn based and more combat. The world is massive and youll be kept bisy with all the side quests. Instead of familiars there are Higgledies, which are like elemental kodamas. The story is about King Evan who is usurped after his fathers death and has to build his own kindgom with the help of Roland, a world leader from our world who gets mysteriously brought to the magical world at a convenient time to help Evan escape and buikd his Kingdom. Still a bit cheesy but in all the right ways. Lots of boss battles. I have yet to finish this one since its so damn massive. I love these games so much. Week 13 Videogame Fanart I couldnt pick one of these games.. I love them all so much. So I did a mashup of Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and the Last Gaurdian. These games were so damn good. Shadow of the Colossus came first for ps2, its a game with only boss battles. And they are freaking epic. You run around on your horse through the land of the gods trying to find the Colossi, find their weakness, climb them and kill them to revive some dead girl. The only dialogue comes from a voice in the sky. Ico is about a kid who is being sacrificed to the gods. He finds himself in a massive castle and find a girl in a cahe and they try to find their way out together. The girl is a bit dull, so you have to lead her everywhere and fight off the shadow men who try to drag her into the darkness. The Last Gaurdian is about a little kid and a giant adorable cat-bird trying to find their way out of a giant castle. Over time you develop a bond with the creature and you can give him commands and ride him around and make him shoot explosions from his tail. All these games are basically giant puzzles with some action parts. The graphics are amazing. The character and world design is beautiful. The soundtrack! Just go play them. Youll see. Week 13 Videogame fanart This one is from the Kingdom Hearts series. I started playing this when I was going through hard times. I was just a kid. And this game really helped me get through. I would play it every single day after school. I was so lost when I beat the game. Didnt know what to do with myself. For those who never played it, its a mashuo of disney and Final Fantasy characters. The main theme is about staying true to your heart and fighting the darkness that tries to entangle us. It brings you through the world of all your favourite Disney movies, along with an original storyline with original characters. You fight monsters with a giant key. Its super cheesy in all the best ways and you need to play it right now. So I decided to mash my challenge and my daily comic together today. Might do it all week? Week 13 Videogame Fanart I always have a difficult time not planning everything out. I always want to know where I am headed. But thats just not the way life works. Most paths are winding and have many detours. Through places you never thought you would go. I never thought my life would be the way it is now. I couldnt have planned for it. But Im glad that I didnt stick to my original plan. Once upon a time I wanted to have 2 kids and own a house by now. Be settled down with my partner and be an architect or an event planner. I never would have guessed I would end up tattooing, making comics and board games and live painting and be involved in local theatre. I never would have imagined I would be okay, or even happy living alone. I definately wouldnt have imagined my romantic life being what it is. This piece is inspired by Journey for PS3. If you havent played it, its a game with no dialogue and no fighting. It only takes an hour or two to play the whole game. But the soundtrack and the scenery makes it feel like youve lived a whole lifetime inside the game. Its so magical. Ive played it over 20 times now. And listened to the soundtrack countless times. Highly recommend it for any experience level. I like RPG games best because they are a story you can play. Ive learned so many lessons from playing games. This is only one of many. Often times we see life from only our point of view. But we miss the bigger picture. When we step out of own own shoes and imagine our lives from another perspective we see things in a new light. If I have to use a foodbank I feel depressed and ashamed. But from a third world person perpective I am blessed to have that option. If I have a messy house I feel ashamed but if I look at my life from a fan's perpective they see all the art everywhere, they see all the works in progress. If I look at a busy schedule I feel overwhelmed but a person with no job and few friends would see a full life with lots of opportunities. If I get the flu I feel sorry for myself for puking all the time but for a cancer patient they would see that I am lucky that it will end in a few days and I will be back to good health. Im not saying your problems dont matter. They matter alot. You are entitled to your feelings. But if you want to be happy, if youre tired of feeling down and ashamed and sorry for yourself all the time, all it takes is looking at things from another point of view. Life never gets any easier. I had a dream last weekend that I had a pet owl and a pet falcon. Ive been wanting to put them in Blues world for a while but hadnt found a way till now. They may change shape and/or size as the story builds itself in my brain. They definitely wont end up being pets. More of friends free to come and go. I have always relied on help from others to get by. It always made me feel really anxious and unstable to rely on others so I made a point of it a few years ago to become completely self reliant. Getting my own place, not relying on boyfriends or friends or family to help me with groceries or laundry or anything. If I had something that needed doing I would find a way to do it myself or pay for it to be done. But no matter how hard I tried, some things you just need to ask for help with, or atleast accept help when its offered. People will often suprise you with their willingness, or sometimes even eagerness, to help. Alot of people get alot of joy and fulfillment from helping others. Its important to let those people help you, but its also important to recognise that help and offer help in return. It doesnt have to be a trade system, noone owes anyone anything per say. But if you take and take and take and never give anything in return then you tap those giving people out and they might feel very empty. There is always a balance to be achieved. Dont keep count, just remember to be grateful for what you recieve and be on the lookout for opportunities to give back where you can. Last year I hosted a few couchsurfers because I had a spare bedroom and I like meeting interesting people with cool stories. And someday I want to travel and now I have a few good references. So I helped out some fellow humans, and in return they gave me a good word. Maybe they will even host me in their country in the future. Some gave me small gifts in return for staying too which isnt expected but it was nice.
